Bully's East Prime Bistro Sports Bar
Bully's East is conveniently located in the heart of Mission Valley. As you enter, you feel the warmth of the rich mahogany bar. Locals have been gathering here for four decades to enjoy their favorite beverages and great bar food. It's also the perfect place to view a sporting event. Since its establishment, Bully's East has served more prime rib than any other San Diego restaurant, preparing only USDA Choice, Midwestern, corn-fed, aged beef. It also offers many healthy dining options. Chef Luis Martinez and his culinary staff continually create new dishes, taking advantage of the freshest local produce and seafood to bring diners the best possible culinary experience. Enjoy fine dining in this relaxed environment with over 45 years of experience and tradition. Make sure you save room for Bully's sinful desserts like the Chocolate Lava Cake.
I’ve been a regular visitor to Bully’s for many years and Saturday night was the first time I’ve EVER been told I needed a specific reservation to sit at a booth. I did have a reservation just not for a booth. I’d say I’ve been to Bully’s 200 times in 35 years it’s never been a requirement. Instead they tried to seat me at a table that was set for, I think 8, maybe 10 people. Where is the logic in that. Three booths needed to be bussed, I asked if I could wait for one of those and was told no. Oh, and the Manager was not available to clarify the requirement. I ended up leaving, going to the Butcher Shop and spending my $100.00 there. Not the first time I’ve had an issue with staff at Bully’s. Sad really as I do like the food
We had a really great time at Bully's East. The food was so delicious, Prime Rib and a New York Steak. The drinks were spot on. The only thing that gave this review a lower score was the fact that we had the booth in the back by the restrooms and kitchen so there was non-stop noise and traffic, but we will definitely be going back.
Fun times with friends and food food. Celebrated my husband's birthday here for dinner. He got to watch football and they had drink and food specials.
Great Food and Service ! 🤗
We went on saturday night. We had reservations at 8 oclock. Got there about 15 minutes early, got acouple drinks at the bar. Our table was ready on time. Service was good. Appetizers and entres were good aswell. Will definitely be back.
I love Bully's!! Best prime rib in town and always great service. A San Diego classic.
Small plates offer some good choices. I had seared ahi-- delicious--and added a bistro salad. He had the Porck chops from.the specials menu, what a great price! 2 huge chops at $17.
Bullys East is always a safe bet. Try it for brunch, too.
I'm a bit disappointed they marked me as a no show and now I have to argue for my 100 points. Next time I'll be sure to remind the hostess.
Why use Open Table if its gonna be a hassle? This is not the first time a restaurant has ignored the Open Table verification.
Bully's can be depended upon for grade A prime beef. One in our group at the beast, 2 had NY and one had the 16 oz prime rib. We also enjoyed the Ahi small plate, some very fresh calamari, the gorganzola and pine nut salad and a couple of us had the YUMMY clam chowder soup. Plenty of clams in the soup, not overly creamy and a wonderful full developed flavor of other seasonings. Overall Bully's is delicious food without the pomp and circumstance of fine dining and the servings are large but not Claim jumper large so you may be bringing home leftovers...so you can enjoy it twice. It's surprisingly delicious.
Food was just OK. service sucked. Had to send one dinner back, was just to horrible to eat even if it wasn’t a $40 plate.
Hands-down the best prime rib in San Diego. The bartender also makes an awesome Manhattan!
This was a great, unexpected experience. We usually eat dinner at Bully’s, but the breakfast was fantastic and for reasonable prices. We highly recommend it, informal, tasty, and easy!
Manadarin oranges that were served in salad ordered were bad, actually fermented. Advised server and she seemed to care less. Server was not too friendly , seemed annoyed with her job
Prime rib was excellent as was the service. However, the info on Open Table was misleading and wrong. There were no Early Bird specials as advertised.
Great food, drinks and ambiance,
Never lets me down!
I’ve been a regular visitor to Bully’s for many years and always enjoy dinner there. This time, unfortunately, the New York steak was very tough and full of gristle which is not normal.
I have eaten at this Bullys at least 100 times. They have recently added a 3% surcharge to offset labor charges. I will not go back until the surcharge is discontinued.
I love Bully’s, great food & menu. Fantastic service, fun atmosphere. 4 out of 6 of us ordered the prime rib, and while tender and flavorful, all 4 cuts were luke warm. A little disappointing to say the least. We had waiting awhile, so only one of us returned the meat to reheat.
We went for my mother-in-law’s 96th birthday. The younger people in the had joined the online membership at previous meals, but my mother-in-law doesn’t have any access to computers so why sign her up. I guess you only get a birthday dessert if you’re a member. So when I asked for her birthday dessert they acted all funny and came back with it. Then I found they charged me $5 on my bill. Otherwise good food and good service. There were 5 of us and 3 of us had breakfast cocktails, so we had a decent sized bill, not too happy with that customer service.
Great prime rib.
We visit Bully’s East whenever we’re in San Diego for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. This trip it was for breakfast. Our breakfast wasn’t as good as it has been in the past - potatoes were cold, the ham was sliced like sandwich meat - not the normal portion for “ham and eggs”.
The waitress was very unpleasant. No smile, friendly attitude. We mentioned in reservation celebrating birthdays. Bus boy recognized not waitress. Good decent. Mostly just a blah experience.
Excellent food, we had dinner three times in last three days, during our San Diego vacation. Personnel very kind, great place where to eat
Bully’s is always good!
Food wasn’t the greatest. Ordered a spinach and feta omelette. Hardly any feta. Ordered prime rib, wasn’t good. Had a horseradish crust which sucked all the moisture out of the meat. Ordered a baked Brie appetizer, which was really good until we found a long hair underneath. I’m so surprised given all the reviews saying how great it was. Just not my favorite and disappointed.
Great food service was great
I went to Bully's after making a reservation for 10:15 p.m. on OpenTable, only to be informed that the kitchen had closed and only appetizers were available. According to OpenTable, the restaurant was open until 11. My wife and I had been in the hospital for five days with the birth of our first child and she was craving a rare steak. After explaining this to the manager, he was not moved in the least, and didn't offer anything for us to come back at another time. This is definitely not the level of service I have come to expect from Bully's, and quite disappointing for a restaurant supposedly known for late night dining. The next day, I had a voicemail from the manager letting me know that the kitchen would be closed at 10:15, but I did not get that message that night (or else we would not have driven out there). We wound up dropping over $70 at a Korean BBQ place that was more accommodating to two late night diners. Bully's loss.
Why does OpenTable accept reservations at times that the kitchen of the restaurant is not open?
Another great time at a classic San Diego establishment.
Food was very good. Service during meal was ok, but waited ten minutes for the check to be presented after table cleared. Then waited another 10 minutes after I provided my card. There is no excuse to have a patron wait 20 minutes to pay their bill. Too bad. Good food & yet, a frustrating end to the evening.
Good food at value prices. Easy parking. Pub, bar atmosphere. We will be back.
Unfortunately I had mentioned that this was our 45th anniversary when I made my reservation and it was not acknowledged in any way... Also I requested that the Bacon Butter be left off my sliders and it was a mess to eat because it was all over the plate and buns anyway. We didn't expect to be having to watch MMA boxing during our intimate dinner - it was repulsive... we would have asked to have the channel change to a baseball game or any other sport but didn't feel anyone would care...
Sea bass was on special and probably the best I ever had. They also had a salad with watermelon and cajun shrimp. The spice was over the top, but I was able to send it back and get it less spicy. Still not sure I would order it again--the shrimp just wasn't good--but I loved the watermelon salad. Bully's is consistently good.
It was my husbands first time there and he was very impressed. The food was perfect and Great Atmosphere
Great watermelon/shrimp salad - surprisingly refreshing Bully's East didn't. Ultimately, OpenTable gave me credit for the dine and all's well.
Great experience as always. The prime rib was great.
This was a special birthday for my adult daughter, so she had steak and lobster. She did not like the steak.
We had a great time - wonderful food and great service (thanks Casey!).
Nothing special at Bully’s. Nothing different. Just an average place for dining. I want to preface that we didn’t drink there...just ate dinner.
The food was delicious as usual & Stephanie was a fabulous server!
Overall great experience.
