I decided to take my family of 4 there for Mother's Day Lunch. I made a reservation in advance and when we got there we sat in a high top next to the Bar. Now, I'm not one to complain but when I asked if there was another table available downstairs and the host said no. However, as we started to order drinks I saw other parties of 2 and 4 coming in and I heard her ask the other customers if they had reservations and they said NO. After about 5 mins she took them downstairs and sat them. I immediately went to the bathroom which btw is downstairs and saw two more empty 4 top tables available and the rest of the tables were taken with big parties. At this point I was furious, I kindly asked the host if we could possibly move downstairs as I noticed two tables that were available and she said they are reserved and both parties should be there in an hour. I said I also had a reservation and was sat at the bar tables and never had a choice. She said sorry and turned away as she had nothing else to say. Overall, the service experience definitely needs some attention but the food was good.
The service here leaves quite a bit to be desired. Our waiter made fun of someone at my table to start, which ruined her experience for the rest of the dinner. I don't think we ever saw him again until we had to ask for the check. The other staff were attentive and very nice.
The chairs in the bar are SO UNCOMFORTABLE! They are stiff and hard as rocks. I would NOT recommend sitting in the bar.
And to top it all off, the prices are expensive. I would say more than Iberico and Baba Reeba. And certainly not as good.
Very disappointed by service and over-priced menu. I had to get the waiter's attention several times even though the place was pretty empty. Also, the food was average, but the prices were high compared to quality of food. The cost for a wine by the glass was incredibly high, and the bartender's pour was ridiculous. We will not be returning.
My husband and I frequent Bulerias year round. They do have an excellent patio in the summer. We like to go here for a weeknight or weekend date night. The tapas never disappoints! We try something new almost every time and each time we gain a new fav. Our latest visit was for a date night after a long week. We wanted to relax. Unfortunately, there was a loud crowd that was disruptive. We were going to stay and drink for a while longer, but chose to head to another bar. The downstairs seating is a little too loud if there is a large group. Previous dinners way sat downstairs and it is fine. Upstairs can be ok if you are not seated by the windows. The big sign outside can reflect it's bright lights and be disruptive. I prefer the patio in summer! Looking forward to nice weather so we can enjoy it!
We were looking for good tapas, and this spot mostly fits the bill. (The only dish I regret is the grilled octopus - I'm a huge fan of octopus, but this one suffered for the preparation, as all I could taste was the char.) Friendly staff, a bartender working double duty waiting on our table (and cheerful about it), and proximity to our neighborhood all big pluses. Worth a shot. Be ready to spend about ~$40 per person.
The seafood soup was great, as was the Salmon crisps but the overall bar vibe left us feeling less than confident that we would return... the front is confusing as you essentially walk right into a wall, and for us- we had our stroller which we had to carry up stairs to eat so I don't know how they can accommodate strollers and or wheelchairs? It's an odd setup.
Great food! They were unexpectedly busy and a little light on servers, but managed very good service despite unintended short staffing. Sit on the patio while the weather is nice.
And, order the dates. Best method here! Bacon is crispy, but dates are soft and not overcooked/dry.
Overall, well worth it as a tapas experience. It is my new "go to"...
The food was great. When the sun went down, the lights outside were swarming with gnats and flies. It wasn't for or five gnats, but rather thousands of gnats. I tried to ignore them and enjoy the company of my fellow entendees, but I couldn't take the gnats crawling on my body. Pro-tip to Bulerias: Buy some bug repellent.
We found the food authentic (particularly the Flan) and tasty. Our server Manuel was attentive and knowledgable. It was a rainy night weekend night and the downstairs was closed so we cannot comment on the entertainment which we were told was on Thursday. Close to our neighborhood, so we will be back.
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time, being fans of Spanish cuisine. The food did not disappoint. We opted to sit downstairs to enjoy the flamenco show. It was a bit noisy but the dancing and music added a festive element. Our only issue really was trying to get the server to understand the drink order. It took three attempts to get a simple tonic order.
ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES TO GO!!! The food is amazing, the sangria is also amazing, and the staff is extremely friendly! We have our go to favorites and try something new each time. There hasn't been one thing that we thought was mediocre. I went there for my bachelorette party dinner and then for an anniversary with my husband. Now it has become our regular date night spot. It is definitely a hidden gem on Ashland!
My friend and I came here the other night and thought it was just okay. The décor is cute and the service was good, but the food was nothing spectacular. Stuffed dates were definitely the highlight, and I also thought the toasts with pulled pork with pretty good. Artichoke dish wasn't great; we didn't finish it. Pan con tomate and serrano ham was totally unremarkable. Sangria was fine. I think you can definitely do better with tapas.
Found this place through an online search, and it was highly recommended. We made a reservation to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We didn't realize that the restaurant had two levels and I think she would have enjoyed being on the lower level, where the scene was more vibrant. Overall, a good experience.
