Overall very good tapas. Absolutely loved the Dátiles and Paella, but my boyfriend didn’t enjoy his pincho de carne (he said was too salty).
Food was great, service was impeccable- helpful with deciding on type and number of plates, attentive but not overwhelming.
Great date spot with quick service and great food.
Excellent service ! Delicious food! Really good prices
Fantastic service, great food
The management hasn't updated menus in so long that the servers aren't able to properly do their jobs. They did their very best to find us a bottle of wine that fit what we were looking for, but they had to search for it. This means that management isn't paying enough attention to the guests' experience nor their wine program. The wine list seems great and provides good value, but the maintenance is lacking. The bottle we decided on was served at proper temp, so ownership has invested there. The food was so salty we didn't each much of it. It is so unfortunate because their menu is creative and interesting to read, but the execution just isn't there. Service itself was great. It is clear that the servers are just working with a management team that doesn't have it all together.
We love Bulerias! The DÁTILES are the best anywhere! Peach margarita with a shot of Brandy - Plátanos Caramelizados! OMG!!!! Don't miss this place - a Chicago treasure!
Great food and friendly service. I recommend the papas bravas, the chorizo and the gambas al ajillo. Good wine selection, the only issue is the temperature of the red wine bottles (54°F) as I like mine room temperature (around 70°F).
This was our second time there. It was a less than optimal experience for us. When we got there, there was only one server (other than the bar tender who didn't ask us a thing) who was scrambling around. We waited for a bit before he came over. Then seemed so frazzled and confused. Wasn't the most 'warm welcome'-ing experience. After we sat down, it was quite a while before he brought menus over. Then more of a wait to ask for drinks. The food was not bad...portion sizes rather small but that is tapas for you...so that's fine. All through the evening, the HVAC kept blowing on and off loudly. Also, there was a Flamenco dance performance on in the basement. Super loud banging is all we could hear. Not a peaceful experience at all. All in all, I would say, it was okay....we won't be going back there again most probably (but never say never , I suppose ;-) !)
The steak options were delicious, but stay away from the salmon and the calamari. The calamari was extremely chewy and what is advertised as great salmon pieces is the smoked salmon from the deli packages.
Great menu, great food, great service. Atmosphere is a somewhat lacking but the food makes up for it.
The service was highly lacking (it took over 30 minutes to get the bill) and the portions aren't enough for two people to split.
Great tapas experience overall. Sangria is customizable with extra shots of brandy, etc. And the food choices had tapas classics but with many unique items to choose from as well. We also found it to have a very respectable amount of vegetarian options as well. Food and drinks were both outstanding and the service was very prompt.
For the price, there are better places out there. Friendly tip: they don’t honor happy hour specials (4pm-6pm) if you have an open table reservation.
nice food! We love the seafood here!
Dinner was great. Wonderful portions
I enjoyed Bulerias. But living on the south side, I have options closer to home that are just as good. But If you're in the area, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Back for the 3rd time and again - awesome.
Always a good dinner spot! Food is great and wine is reasonable.
Service was exceptional. The dishes are SO good! We went for a late lunch, ordered a few plates and wanted to keep ordering! Will definitely be returning!
Always an amazing experience! Great food, drinks and environment. Love sitting on the patio!
Food was great, like e different sangria options.
The service here leaves quite a bit to be desired. Our waiter made fun of someone at my table to start, which ruined her experience for the rest of the dinner. I don't think we ever saw him again until we had to ask for the check. The other staff were attentive and very nice.
The chairs in the bar are SO UNCOMFORTABLE! They are stiff and hard as rocks. I would NOT recommend sitting in the bar.
And to top it all off, the prices are expensive. I would say more than Iberico and Baba Reeba. And certainly not as good.
I decided to take my family of 4 there for Mother's Day Lunch. I made a reservation in advance and when we got there we sat in a high top next to the Bar. Now, I'm not one to complain but when I asked if there was another table available downstairs and the host said no. However, as we started to order drinks I saw other parties of 2 and 4 coming in and I heard her ask the other customers if they had reservations and they said NO. After about 5 mins she took them downstairs and sat them. I immediately went to the bathroom which btw is downstairs and saw two more empty 4 top tables available and the rest of the tables were taken with big parties. At this point I was furious, I kindly asked the host if we could possibly move downstairs as I noticed two tables that were available and she said they are reserved and both parties should be there in an hour. I said I also had a reservation and was sat at the bar tables and never had a choice. She said sorry and turned away as she had nothing else to say. Overall, the service experience definitely needs some attention but the food was good.
Very disappointed by service and over-priced menu. I had to get the waiter's attention several times even though the place was pretty empty. Also, the food was average, but the prices were high compared to quality of food. The cost for a wine by the glass was incredibly high, and the bartender's pour was ridiculous. We will not be returning.
We went for my daughters 25th birthday. We were greeted warmly upon entering and the good vibes kept coming. Our waiter spoke just enough to make it authentic without loosing us.
Service was excellent, food was delicious. I would go back.
The food was excellent I will definitely come back
My husband and I frequent Bulerias year round. They do have an excellent patio in the summer. We like to go here for a weeknight or weekend date night. The tapas never disappoints! We try something new almost every time and each time we gain a new fav. Our latest visit was for a date night after a long week. We wanted to relax. Unfortunately, there was a loud crowd that was disruptive. We were going to stay and drink for a while longer, but chose to head to another bar. The downstairs seating is a little too loud if there is a large group. Previous dinners way sat downstairs and it is fine. Upstairs can be ok if you are not seated by the windows. The big sign outside can reflect it's bright lights and be disruptive. I prefer the patio in summer! Looking forward to nice weather so we can enjoy it!
Great food and service made a multiple birthday celebration enjoyable and memorable.
Small tapas spot, with very good food. We were able to find tasty options for vegetarian and vegan diners. Tight quarters, restaurant layout, and reflective surfaces make for very loud environment. Easy walking distance to Music Box and Mercury theaters.
Great food & great service! Love this place. I heard the Flamenco Nights are great as well
Always great food and loads of fun! Sangria is a mist-habe?
We were looking for good tapas, and this spot mostly fits the bill. (The only dish I regret is the grilled octopus - I'm a huge fan of octopus, but this one suffered for the preparation, as all I could taste was the char.) Friendly staff, a bartender working double duty waiting on our table (and cheerful about it), and proximity to our neighborhood all big pluses. Worth a shot. Be ready to spend about ~$40 per person.
Food delicious, especially the bacon wrapped dates! Wonderful service
Amazing food and great drinks! Glad we tried this place!
Probably would have been a good place, but the company Christmas party was downstairs and the staff didn't pay attention to us.
Good place for Thanksgiving with friends.
The food was great, wonderful service and good value. The place was very quiet for Thanksgiving so maybe would go some place with more people on a holiday. Otherwise highly recommend.
The food is great, I'll even commend the olive oil on the table. The service was a bit haphazard but not bad. We've gone again for lunch as the food is really good.
Good wine list too.
The seafood soup was great, as was the Salmon crisps but the overall bar vibe left us feeling less than confident that we would return... the front is confusing as you essentially walk right into a wall, and for us- we had our stroller which we had to carry up stairs to eat so I don't know how they can accommodate strollers and or wheelchairs? It's an odd setup.
