I booked BUFI on Open Table for my brother's birthday.
I have been previously and had a fine experience.
When we arrived my husband took the birthday cake to the manager I believe and was told "You didn't tell us about the cake". The manager then proceeded to say "what do you want me to do with it" I had to walk over and said I specified birthday when I booked on Open Table. I was taken aback because I had read reviews where people had had birthdays there. I didn't think bringing a cake would be such an issue.
I was then told there would be a cover charge of a pound per person. I said fine.
At the end of the dinner the cake was brought out lit with candles and we sang Happy Birthday. So it turned out fine in the end but the earlier experience made me feel a bit uneasy.
The food is consistently excellent, but we went early on a Sunday evening and there were a couple of items not available on the menu. This was a shame because the friends we were with asked for them! They did choose alternatives which they thoroughly enjoyed!
food was nice, service friendly and prompt, there are good size tables so not squashed. The only negative was that the gluten free pizza was not available and as it was a Saturday evening you would think it should be but GF pasta was available.
I went to Bufi a few times now, and every single meal and bite was very much enjoyable. I recommend this restaurant to everybody who loves Italian food or simply a hearty plate of pasta and a good glass of wine. A meal at Bufis fits every occasion and in this cozy restaurant you can't help but feel comfortable and like in Nonna's kitchen.
My favourite Italian/pizza in N.London. And that is saying something, as there are loads of ristoranti around here ..
Really lovely local authentic Italian restaurant; food great and service excellent
I haven't had such good pizza for some time. And that is saying something as competition is stiff in Finchley and surrounding areas - there are loads of good Italian restaurants. The staff were super friendly and I even got some extra grappa - just what I need :) Will definitely come back for more, and hopefully soon !
Empty apart from us . Food good. Service Good. The one toilet not working.
Seemed to have run out of some things.
Excellent value, notable for its very friendly service.
Good value & great pizza / pasta place in East Finchley
Good service & nice ambience
We had an early tea with our 22 month old twins and the service and food was perfect for a family with young children. The rabbit shaped pizza when down a storm with the children and the service was very attentive and flexible without being intrusive. Whilst slightly more expensive than your standard Pizza Express type family meal it's definitely worth it and I would recommend for a family meal.
Very average tasting food. Garlic bread had no flavour nor did the garlic butter that went with the dough sticks
The roasted vegetable salad was bulked up with salad green. The smallest of slithers of roasted vegetables. Tasteless mozzarella.
Wouldn't go back.
pizza with goats cheese and sausage about £12 but best pizza ive ever had
Always attentive lovely service. Pizzas are good but could have been a little crispier on the crust. Nice relaxed atmosphere!
Took my girlfriend hear for our 5 year anniversary. We were treated very quickly and were taken to a table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was served quickly and was delicious. Great range of food and was recommended meals too. Wonderful place to eat.
Service was good they catered well! But very expensive, and not t worth the value.
I went for the first time with a group of friends. We will definitely come again! Excellent pizzas with great quality dough and ingredients including specialty cheeses! Very filling and not expensive, and the food comes out fast! The ambience is just right for being able to hear eachother talk, but with nice background music. So it would be great for a book club or business meeting as well.
Bufi is one of our neighbourhood restaurants that my husband and I have been meaning to try for some time now. The food was good. I had one of the specials - the crab ravioli which was satisfying. My husband had a very nice looking pizza. It was quite substantial. The house wine was good too. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. A good place to catch up with friends or a casual date night before a movie.
We were welcomed by the manager who was very friendly and our server was delightful
Nice service. Great ambience
Will definitely be going back. Lovely place to eat good food and excellent service.
and the staff are too. Excellent Easter day visit with overtly sincerely warm, friendly service, outstanding buffalo mozzarella and a buzzing vibe. Something to chase the heavy hail/rain storms away over night and herald in the sunshine next morning.
I highly recommend the buff.mozz. margherita - cheese on last in true Neapolitan style - delicious (as are the zucchini friti) xxx
Grazie mille to all involved
Absolutely outstanding pizzas cooked in a wood fired oven. Some lovely starters (especially the squid) but make sure you leave rooms for desserts - the semifreddo is incredible as is the tiramisu
The pizza's and red wine here are delicious - always really enjoy my dinner at Bufi!
We like to go to bufi before the Phoenix cinema for a pre cinema meal. We all enjoyed our food but thought it quite expensive for what it was
I have been to Bufi many times and its never failed to impress. It has a great pizza oven and the food is always tasty. Nice sharing plates and other Italian themed dishes too.
Its a good local option for the people of N2 and beyond.
Food was great as usual and service tip top. It was a Saturday night and the only table was in the bar which was noisy due the music system. Apart from that ... great meal and we will return !
We visited Bufi italian restaurant for the first time this weekend with our 13 year old daughter. What a lovely find, an authentic italian restaurant with a lovely cosy welcoming feel. We had a sharing starter of different cheese and fresh bread with chilli jam which in fairness could be shared easily by 4 people not 2 and also had a starter of garlic bread pizza with tomatoes. Next time we would order less to start as the mains were delicious. We had fungi pizza as a main and my daughter had spaghetti pomodora huge portions and the pizza was the best I had outside Italy. We had no room for dessert unfortunately. Next time we will have mains and desserts. Staff were attentive and we will definately go back.
Staff here are friendly, its a loud restaurant so great for friends and family, I took my date and she was impressed!! the food was great, and the service was fast and friendly. i will definitely be returning with my new girlfriend!
a visit to Bufi negates the need for any Sky Package!
A warm welcome, splendid service from cheerfully intrinsically generous hosts, fantastic zucchini fritti, marvellous mozzarella on pizzas the staff in the kitchen really take care about, and a buzzing lively vibe make for a top afternoon/early evening entertainment.
WELL WORTH 6 STARS!
What better way to see out the weekend. Highly recommended indeed - thanks to all involved.
Excellent food and service in a local restaurant. Would recommend to all.
I went there with my children for early dinner on Sunday. The food was very good, especially pizzas. At 6.30 pm was packed, so the advise is better book in advance.
Bufi has consistently excellent food, service and ambience. The staff are lovely. However, for a local restaurant, it is very expensive. Therefore, it is a place for special occasions or treats, rather than regular weekly meals. This is a real shame that their pricing has gone up and up since they started. We will always go back but only as a special treat now.
Really delicious meal, loved the pasta, we both went for 'rigatoni, buffalo ricotta, tomato sauce, cherry tomato, aubergine' totally divine, followed by homemade hazelnut tiramisu. Fantastic service, really lovely evening.
Excellent quality and cooking. Good selection of dishes.
Ravioli dish was overly salty and inedible. Second attempt at making the dish - undercooked pasta and watery sauce. No apologies or attempt to check the dish was ok the second time round. My friend's burger was warm and bun was soggy. Waiters did not seem to be bothered. Will not return and definitely not recommend.
Even with light snow, and freezing sleet outside, and sat in rather a chilly breeze
(try not to be seated by the over opening door!), the top vibe, service, cheer and yes of course marvellous mozzarella cheese bring South Italy to Finchley. Excellent idea, will be back again once the thaw has set in!
Very salty food. Not overly kid friendly staff. Locals have chosen to boycott this place due staff attitude.
It's in our neighborhood and had been Recommended so we thought we'd try it. The pizza was outstanding, a thin crisp base with just the right topping so as not to make it soft and lumpy. The portions are generous and we had to struggle to get through the salmon. But the highlight of the evening was the service. It was warm and friendly. The two waiters almost seemed to care that you would return another day!!
Always a nice meal in this busy pizza & pasta joint.
The sharing boards as a starter are a good option.
