Small plates were mixed. Stuffed squash blossoms were the best. The Korean beef and terrines were so-so. The waiter expressed surprise that we were only having small plates, but it was enough for us. The buffalo bar desert was excellent as was the tea service. In fact, all food was served with a flair by a well-trained staff. The Iroquois Room was quite interesting, since it was stately and a classic style. The back patio was a far younger scene with a more modern vibe.
We hadn't been to the Buffalo Club in quite a while. As soon as we entered the dining room and were warmly greeted by the maitre'd we wondered why we had been away for so long. The room is elegant and warm. Our server, William, couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We felt like we were at home and will definitely add the Buffalo Club to our list of favorite neighborhood gems for all occasions.
Great service and ambiance
First time back in several years because I was not happy with earlier menu changes. It was fabulous. Service was amazing, as good as it can get. My salmon was fabulous and the caesar salad was just good. I prefer the lettuce cut-up and tossed into the salad.
But, it's a great spot for a date or a business meal.
It's our "local" place and we love it every time. The menu varies seasonally, yet is always creative and delicious. The patio and outdoor bar, in season, is a scene, and a "vibrant" late night spot on weekends. William is great.
Terrific experience! We'll be back soon. The food was amazing and the wait staff was incredibly attentive. I love the ambiance.
I got a call from the restaurant the afternoon before a sa
We had vegan dish that was excellent, good wine and great desserts. then we went to the club had good time, the DJ was amazing! DJ DiJital!!!
Always great food and excellent service in a very neat setting - both indoors and out. We’re fortunate to have the Buffalo Club just blocks away from home.
We have very much enjoyed this place in the past, but their main dining room has been closed every time we have gone for the last couple of years and the food was OK, but not anything to write home about.
Food and service was awesome !
Love this down low classic place. Professional wait staff and hospitalable Chef and Owner. Feel like they appreciate your business!
Been a long time since we were last there, but absolutely worth the wait. Great ambiance and original dishes that are out of this world. Dover Sole for two... Phenominal.
Terrific real food based on classic french cuisine
This place. THIS place. I've lived in the neighborhood for over ten years, and hadn't dined at the Buffalo Club until last night. How tragic that it took me so long to get there! The ambience inside (the Iroquois room) is incredible...very sexy, old Hollywood vibe. The food was so delicious (and I mean everything...from the bread and butter to the beef bourguignon to the sticky toffee pudding), and the service was impeccable. William is a fantastic and knowledgeable waiter, and we will certainly ask for him again when we return. Which will be soon! Do yourselves a favor and check out this fabulous gem in Santa Monica! You will absolutely win date night.
Sadly, disappointing. Neither the waitress or the bar or the busing staff had their act together. And the food was just ok.
The setting both inside and out is potentially great, but the Buffalo Club needs to be completely re-invented from the ground up, and managed properly, which is currently not the case.
Oh well...
Food was delicious, service fantastic and nice restaurant to catch up with friends!
I was shocked how good this restaurant was; I haven't eaten here in a couple of years, it was good back then. It's great now. The food was 5 stars and the service was super polite, never rushed us, glad to help out with recommendations.
Definitely on my list to return soon!
Old school interior - lots of wood and darker colors without being overbearing. Classic food (steak, beef Bourgogne) prepared very well, served tableside. Solid cocktails.
I had high expectations for a quiet dinner. We were the first to arrive at 6:30 and the music was very loud. We asked if it was always that loud and they offered to turn it down. That did not happen. We reminded them and still the music was far too loud to allow for a comfortable conversation. This is billed as a place for a quiet dinner. The music was nice, but should have been background, not the main event. Such a shame, since it is a lovely place, service was good, and our meal OK,
Always great and fortunate to have The Buffalo Club as our neighborhood place.
Great, as always. We love dining at the Buffalo Club. Each creative menu choice offers a unique taste and never disappoints. There's always a special or two to change up the seasonal menu. The Buffalo Bars, for dessert, are a chocolate lover's dream and set you up for music and dancing on the weekends in the garden when the weather is warm.
Great ambiance , food & Service
Everyone loved everything about the Buffalo Club, it's a Classic.
Will return
The food was not at all worth the price. Average at best and beyond pricey.
Old-school style, but nice conveniences and great service. We are vegetarians, but our server suggested a combo of small plates that made for a great meal. Very stylish inside without being overbearing or pretentious.
Great, as always. We are so glad to have The Buffalo Club as our neighborhood restaurant.
The main dining room is intimate and beautiful. The ambiance allows for quiet conversation and the food is delicious.
Had a dinner reservation but ended up eating at the bar (the bartender was very engaging so we just stayed put). Craft cocktails were excellent.
So great to find a place serving updated versions of the classics like Boef Bourgignon and Chicken Pot Pie. Modern menu too. Gracious non intrusive service. Great place for conversation - you can hear !
The food and service was outstanding. It was a slow Wednesday night, we were one of two tables there, so we were well taken care of!
They were out of everything I had on my list based on reading the menu online. When you ask for water they bring hot water from the tap. When you buy their bottled water it too is warm. Can they not afford a refrigerator here? The wait service is amateurish. The food is overpriced for what it is, but that was only noticeable because of all of the other things. We didn't go there to save money, we went for a birthday dinner - choosing it over Ruths Chris & The Pacific Dining Car. Won't make that mistake again.
I had booked this 1month in advance for me and my girlfriends 1-year anniversary. When we got there (30min drive fr Hollywood) it was booked for a private event but was got an option to sit inside their restaurant alone.. This was not what I had booked and are not pleased with their: Sorry
Fabulous place, great food, great music, great service, a rael egm. Would recommend it for all sorts of occasions.
Very disappointing. The restaurant was totally dead. When we asked to order our favorite dish they told us that they had sold out. It was apparent that this was not the case. A once exciting, trendy, foodie location has died down to nothing. Very disappointing.
The Buffalo Club is always amazing. We moved into the neighborhood a year ago and have made it our regular place to eat. From special occasions to everyday dining, the Buffalo Club is unbeatable. In Santa Monica, where you can walk to everything, there is no reason to walk further than a couple of blocks to find a consistently super meal. Chef Patrick Healy obviously know what he's doing in the kitchen of this former private supper club. The quirky Iroquois Room looks like an old speakeasy, beautifully appointed (and has pictures of Niagara Falls) hosts indoor dining in the cooler months, and the patio, with a cool bar, is perfect when it's warm. The Buffalo Club hosts music several (late) nights a week. We're too old to know when the music ends. If you like chocolate, try the Buffalo Bars for dessert.
We went to the Buffalo Club for a celebratory family graduation dinner.
Food was good
Service was good
Ambiance was good
Seemed like it had more of a club feel and would be much busier later.
We were one of a handful of groups having a meal.
great service, great food, great atmosphere. We were seated immediately and attended to well throughout our night there. The waiter was pleasant and polite and made some great food recommendations. This is more for the restaurant as he wouldn't have had control over it; I made the reservation online for the garden courtyard but when I arrived they said that it was closed for construction. The inside dining experience went well but it would have been nice to know that the courtyard wasn't available ahead of time.
The steaks were good and the asparagus and mushrooms were excellent. They had good service
The service was top notch, The food was well prepared and tasty. The noise level was a welcome change
We decided to find a new place to go for my husband's birthday. We celebrated with our 24 year old son and my 83 year old father. We wanted something special, with white table clothes, intimate yet hip. The Buffalo club on Olympic fit the bill. We were welcomed like we were members. The dinning room, with its leather booths, celebrated writers framed on the wall, art work and outstanding wait staff were very interesting and made us feel comfortable. Turned out my son had just been there the week before at an alumni networking event with his middle school and he was eager to go back! My father had not been there since the 90's and thought it was very cool. Best part was the food, the atmosphere and the wait staff! My husband felt celebrated and I felt like we had discovered somewhere new that we'll definetly return to special occasion or not!
