Bufad Ratings and Reviews
Not sure how to rank Bufad. The food was delicious, but the experience suffered from the service.
We ordered the burrata appetizer and baby green salad, the margherita pizza with pepperoni for the entree, and the affogato and panna cotta for dessert. Food was perfect. The desserts were especially great. However, the service was pretty bad. First, they brought out the appetizers quickly which was appreciated. But within ten minutes of getting the appetizers, and before we finished either the salad or the burrata, we were served our pizza. They offered to take the appetizer dishes while we were still eating them. By the time we finished the appetizers, the pizza was cold. We felt very rushed and for no good reason - the restaurant had plenty of open tables with no one waiting.
Had the service and experience been better, it would have been a great meal. Next time, we will order courses individually.
As a neighborhood place this is a wonderful location. As a pre Union Transfer Concert place, even better. The small plate of Buratta was delicious. I could have eaten two instead of splitting with a friend. Each homemade pizza was flavorful and large. Could have split the pizza and gotten another small plate. Very good value and service was attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely go back.
Just an FYI this is a BYO so make plans if you want a drink with your meal. Prohibition taproom is a few steps away so you can stop and fill up a growler (beer).
We started out with the burrata-highly recommend. It was like butttdder! Very well balanced. Next were the meat balls - they were a little dense and the sauce was heavy so I would pass on these. Finally we shared a pepperoni & wild mushroom pizza. I would do the pepperoni next time and try the margherita sauce (instead of marinara). The crust was perfect. The locations was small and warm. It is in an up and coming area so it can be a little sketchy. Uber/Lyft in and out. Plan on returning.
Very limited menu choices for brunch. Server did not write the order down and got three of the five orders wrong - twice. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so didn't understand the multiple food order mix ups. The food was just ok. Would definitely not recommend or return.
The food was fantastic - we got salads as appetizers and 3 different pizzas, all of which were great. We were excited for this BYOB but they didn't have any wine glasses available when we were seated. The noise in the little restaurant made it hard to hold a conversation even though we were only a group of 4 at a small table. Seems like they have some growing pains to figure out but we all agreed that the great food was worth it and will return!
Pizza was good. I love all their options. Was with a few picky eaters so we got the margarita pizza and the pizza Bianca with sausage. I would love to try some of their specialty ones some time. Service was eh, asked for marinara sauce and we never got it. It was cold inside, too.
Always a wonderful meal with friendly service and delicious food. Bufad has been our favorite neighborhood byob; we have introduced many friends and family to their consistently exceptional wood fire pizzas, creative salads and delicious desserts. Having Bufad in our neighborhood has been a real asset!!
Summer on Your Plate: Bufad's seasonal summer corn pizza is one of the best things I've ever had. On the most recent trip, my dining partner and I combined it with a fresh tomato and watermelon salad and fresh figs roasted with gorgonzola. The flavors were distinctive and extra-fresh, a true example of summer on your plate.
This was our second trip to Bufad for Sunday brunch. The place is great. There is a nice selection of reasonably-priced and innovative items for brunch, and some delicious pizzas if you want to have lunch there also. The young lady serving us was very prompt and we got several coffee refills at no extra charge. Not a big place, so reservations are a good idea. Ample parking on Spring Garden Street. Try the Eggs In Purgatory!
Bufad is a decent restaurant. It's a very small byob. My pizza was pretty good except for a few burnt pieces on top. The crust could be improved by adding some sweetness to it. I typically love the crust on pizza but this crust I didn't really care for.
My family and I enjoyed a great breakfast here last weekend. There was ample street parking on Spring Garden Street. There was a nice variety of reasonably-priced and delicious choices, ranging from $13-15 dollars each. No extra charge for coffee refills, which is a big plus. small place. so reservations are suggested. You will not be disappointed.
This place is the pure definition of "neighborhood gem" and the value is exceptional! The pizza is both interesting and very well executed, but the rest of the menu is why we return over and over. The antipasti, pasta, scamorza, meatballs, and desserts are all outstanding.
