My friend and I were promptly seated for our 6pm reservation on a Friday. The restaurant started to get busy soon after so I recommend a reservation. All the staff was excellent and the food was amazing. We shared the baby green salad, calamari, and the pizza with the prosciutto on it(sorry, I forgot the name). It was all delicious! We devoured it all! I'm upset that we didn't have room for dessert. The dessert menu looks great. There's plenty of street parking in the area. The place is BYOB. If you forget to bring drinks, the Prohibition Tap Room is around the corner. They'll sell you beer to go :) Enjoy! I know I'll be back.
Excellent pizza! Wonderful crust, tasty sauce options, and nice range of toppings. Good service, friendly atmosphere.
Super great pizza. Can't wait to come back. Huge fan of the napolitana.
Awesome spot! We wanted to sit outside, the host went down the street to prohibition taproom to get a table for our party since none were available. Food is great for the price, plus it is byob. Will definitely be back.
The folks at Bufad always take great care of us. Brought my family for a celebratory dinner.
Friendly service and attentive service
Great little spot
Creative offerings with good value
Simply put, Bufad comes through every time. Terrific place. We've been there numerous times over the past two years.
This is our 2nd time here in as many months because the food is fantastic.
Had been before and it was very tasty. This time around was just okay. The food seemed less flavorful and service felt lackluster. We were the last table sitting and felt quite rushed to leave. Everything was being cleaned and put away and even lights turned up, so we felt like we were being told to leave without actually being told. (It wasn’t that late/past closing time.) I’d go back since it’s conveniently located and byob is a plus but I wouldn’t rush over if not in the area.
Amazing service and delicious pizza!
A Neighborhood spot that never disappoints
We brought some friends with us for dinner before a show.
They loved it. Had never been or heard of it.
Excellent antipasto selection, two seasonal and creative salads and of course some of the best pizza the city has to offer. Not sure why it doesn't get more recognition.
Oh well, easier for me to go without a wait.
Friendly and attentive service.
Found this restaurant in an internet search for restaurants near Union Transfer as we were going to a show. The artisanal pizza was delicious as was the lemon ricotta cake. The burrata was good, but more brussel spouts than burrata. Good but make sure you like brussel spouts which I did. Will definitely return.
This is a small, friendly neighborhood pizza spot that is creative, has good ingredients, well prepared. Bring your own bottle and enjoy a couple of pizzas with friends.
I had very high hopes, but the pizza did not live up to expectations. The winter squash pizza had absolutely no salt and barely any flavor. Also the servers kept rushing us to leave before they were even closed and clearly before we finished our meal. We were asked three times if we wanted our plates taken up when we were not even finished.
Great service! Zach was fantastic and we loved chatting with him
Winter squash pizza AMAZING!
Bufad never disappoints. Super low key atmosphere and one could argue that it’s the best pizza in Philadelphia.
We went to Bufad for Sunday gravy. It was an excellent deal - a salad, tomato pie, pasta with meat and gravy and dessert. We also ordered Burrata, and that was served over Brussels sprouts with pine nuts, pancetta and raisins and it was phenomenal!
Unfortunately, they only had one person on the floor and he was hosting, serving, bussing and running which meant even though it's a small space he was quite busy, so not amazing the service I've come to know from Bufad.
The salad and tomato pie were amazing and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the gravy wasn't my favorite. I don't want to give bufad a bad review, but when you advertise Sunday gravy, the gravy itself better be awesome. The sausage was good, but the meatballs were only OK and the sauce was meh. Sorry guys, not my favorite time there.
HOWEVER, i've been to Bufad a bunch and it has always been outstanding. I've been there for brunch: amaaaazing! I've been there for dinner before a show at Union Transfer - outstanding! Been there just to grab a pizza - really yummy. This time, just fell short. So maybe they were just having an off day. Hopefully, that's it because it would be a shame if this was it's new MO.
Great host! Favorite spot. A++ service!
Got the Sunday dinner. $40 for salad, tomato pie, pasta, and dessert for two. Great value. Even better food! Service was great.
Nice restaurant, good food,,, small pizza but tastey
I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE: I have no idea how many times I have dined at Bufad, but it's often!! The specials are our usual go-to items, and last weeks braised short rib pizza was no exception. The service is quick and efficient and the food is consistently excellent. YUMMY!!
Great spot to grab dinner with a few friends, very cheap for a BYOB. It is small though so not recommended for large groups
Great pizza, must try corn pizza when in season!
I took my mother to Bufad for her birthday and I’m glad I did. We both had a great time and enjoyed our meal immensely. Bufad has a cool, laid back vibe and the food is fresh and delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
Definitely the best pizza!! Made to perfection.😍
Not sure how to rank Bufad. The food was delicious, but the experience suffered from the service.
We ordered the burrata appetizer and baby green salad, the margherita pizza with pepperoni for the entree, and the affogato and panna cotta for dessert. Food was perfect. The desserts were especially great. However, the service was pretty bad. First, they brought out the appetizers quickly which was appreciated. But within ten minutes of getting the appetizers, and before we finished either the salad or the burrata, we were served our pizza. They offered to take the appetizer dishes while we were still eating them. By the time we finished the appetizers, the pizza was cold. We felt very rushed and for no good reason - the restaurant had plenty of open tables with no one waiting.
Had the service and experience been better, it would have been a great meal. Next time, we will order courses individually.
The menu changed with the season and everything was exceptional! Great service as always. I’ll continue to dine here when I’m craving pizza!
Fantastic dinner; definitely try the seasonal squash pizza! Do note - not all the specials are actually pizzas. Pro tip - it's only a pizza if it has the word pizza in the name. :D
As a neighborhood place this is a wonderful location. As a pre Union Transfer Concert place, even better. The small plate of Buratta was delicious. I could have eaten two instead of splitting with a friend. Each homemade pizza was flavorful and large. Could have split the pizza and gotten another small plate. Very good value and service was attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely go back.
Just an FYI this is a BYO so make plans if you want a drink with your meal. Prohibition taproom is a few steps away so you can stop and fill up a growler (beer).
We started out with the burrata-highly recommend. It was like butttdder! Very well balanced. Next were the meat balls - they were a little dense and the sauce was heavy so I would pass on these. Finally we shared a pepperoni & wild mushroom pizza. I would do the pepperoni next time and try the margherita sauce (instead of marinara). The crust was perfect. The locations was small and warm. It is in an up and coming area so it can be a little sketchy. Uber/Lyft in and out. Plan on returning.
Great little place near union transfer. It's byob which is great. Pizza and salads are good. Service good as well
Very limited menu choices for brunch. Server did not write the order down and got three of the five orders wrong - twice. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so didn't understand the multiple food order mix ups. The food was just ok. Would definitely not recommend or return.
Love this place. It's our new pre-show dinner spot, just walkng distance to Union Transfer. Can't beat it.
Bufad is dreamy. BYOB, the pizzas are perfect, and there is always a creative appetizer to get your veggies in there. Go here, it's great.
This was our second time at Bufad and it did not disappoint. The fig starter was amazing and the server helped us create two amazing pizzas. Awesome little BYO we will be returning to in the future!!
Most of our food came out room temperature or cool except for the pizza.
Small Plates: burrata, meatballs, roasted figs | 3 out of 5
Pizza: merguez sausage | 4.5 out of 5
Will definitely come back for a bit of pizza.
The food is exceptional- truly delicious flavors. Service and ambiance were also wonderful. This place is small so I recommend making a reservation. I'm already planning my return!
The food was fantastic - we got salads as appetizers and 3 different pizzas, all of which were great. We were excited for this BYOB but they didn't have any wine glasses available when we were seated. The noise in the little restaurant made it hard to hold a conversation even though we were only a group of 4 at a small table. Seems like they have some growing pains to figure out but we all agreed that the great food was worth it and will return!
