Nick greeted us, seated us, and made sure that our water glasses were filled during dinner; great job, Nick.
Carla, our waitress knew the ins and outs of the daily's specials, and readily repeated them back to us as asked. She did not rush our ordering, in fact, I was surprised that there was such a casual, laid-back atmosphere for a Saturday night. Carla did not push the menu on us, in fact, we didn't see one for the first 15 minutes. She was quick to ask if our drinks needed refreshing and apologized for the long wait for our second drinks. (Not her fault) She did a great job.
The bread basket has two types of warmed bread and came with olive oil and butter crab bruschetta appetizer was delicious, as was the cream of crab soup (Lots of lump meat) and Maryland crab soup. The soup spoons were oversized tablespoons, I would look into ordering standard round bowl soup spoons. I ordered the catfish with crabmeat and creamy grits, and a zucchini squash medley; one of the specials. My wife and our neighbor both ordered London broil, rare and medium rare and they were cooked spot on. The wild rice was excellent. Other friend ordered Chesapeake chicken and was satisfied with presentation and taste.
We were too full for dessert but still listened to the choices. They all sounded great.
I was disappointed this time. Food was no where near as good as it has been and no one from the kitchen cared to come out and inquire why only 1 bite was missing from servings.
Bud's does not disappoint. We've dined there numerous times over many years since they opened, and it's not close to where we lived in Ellicott City! Def worth the trip. We have moved to FL but come into town to visit and Bud's is always on the list of 'must dos'!!!
We love Bud’s! Carla is one of our favorite servers. She has a great personality and is very helpful in choosing which entree we should do when we like so many things on the menu! The food as always is just so delicious! We love the grilled Caesar salad when it’s on the menu. Great place for lunch, dinner or special occasion!
Service was good, ambience good, we were celebrating my daughters birthday. My wife and I had a Rebun sandwich there was very little cornbeef and what there was of it was tough and hard to chew. My daughter had a French dip it was fine. My son-in law had a open faced prime rib it was fine. Deserts we had Choclate cake and Cheesecake and they were good. I have been in the hospitality industry all my life I hope this email is constructive.
Waitress was a little spacy but adequate. She stopped in the middle of our order to greet people coming in. She had double duty that day. Overall the service was fine. Three of us ordered Rib eye steaks and they were tasty. Another ordered scallops and she said they were very good. Owner/Chef greeted the diners .
Went to Bud's for my birthday dinner and enjoyed the best cream of crab soup around! the restaurant was quiet and the wait staff was on the ball. The owner came to our table several times to check on us and eventually sat down at the table next to us and had a lengthy conversation with us. Great food and very friendly atmosphere!
The venison was delicious. The service, as always, was excellent.
All around great place, Ken is the best Chef. We go here every year for Valentine's day and dates in between
I knew Valentine's Day was going to be busy so I went in knowing service would take longer. But what I did not expect was lukewarm food after waiting for an unreasonable amount of time. Appetizer (crab crostini) took 40 minutes and it was soggy and warm at best. The potatoes and asparagus were lukewarm, too. How could the potatoes be lukewarm when they were plated under a steak? No way was I going to send it back because it would have been midnight before it came back out. It was a bit disappointing given our past experiences. I hope this was just a hiccup on a busy night.
Went for Valentines day. The food was excellent and so was the service. Highly recommended.
If going to the pub probably fine but would not recommend the dining room.
Never disappointed by food or service. The owner always comes around to ensure you have an excellent dining experience.
Nice place to eat, make sure you get there early as the parking is awful. The parking area may hold 10 cars, however by the time we left (6ish) there were at least 20 and a produce truck in the lot.
First time there.
Will return and recommend to others.
Great wine.
Great prices.
Excellent, as always. This has become a favorite with all of our out of town guests.
The service is absolutely great, they let us know apprx when food would be ready, and the ambiance is very inviting. The food was eloquently presented and tasted even better than it looked.
What a great place! The drive is a bit out there but it was worth it and easy to find. The restaurant is adorable and cozy. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was really good! I enjoyed the cocktails as they were fun without being too crazy. We will definitely come again!
We took a family member for a 60th birthday to Bud's. She had never been there and was quite surprised when she walked through the doors. She expected a bbq joint, instead found a warm, inviting and casual, elegant dining restaurant. We all ordered drinks, which were prepared perfectly. We each ordered different meals and every one was pleasing to the eye and delicious. The staff was friendly, attentive and we loved that the owner/chef stepped out of the kitchen to ask folks about their dining experience. This is a fun place to dine and the relaxed atmosphere and food make it worth driving a little distance to get to. One of our favorite "newest" finds!
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Outstanding service! Food was amazing! Atmosphere was great and bartender was pleasant as usual! Love this place! That's why we keep returning!!!
Chef Ken and his staff make every visit a pleasure.
We enjoy traditions, and our previous traditional anniversary restaurant was destroyed in a flood. We very much enjoyed our meal at Bud's and we will definitely be back next year. I had a steak that was very flavorful (and not just from the rub). My wife had crab cake which she said was very well done and almost entirely lump crab meat. Prices were typical for a restaurant of this quality.
We have dined here often. It was a little busy so dinner took longer than usual. Food was good but is usually excellent. We will still return.
Excellent as usual! Ken does an outstanding job with his food choices and combinations! Best in Westminster!
We had a fantastic time. We loved that the owner came out and spoke to us. He made it a very enjoyable evening.
Our first conversation, when we got home from Bud's (about a 45-minute drive) after lunch with our grown son for an early Father's Day, started with "Wasn't that a great lunch -- when was the last time we sat down unhurried and had such wonderful food and conversation?" I could not have asked for a better experience as the "hostess" for our jaunt, from the on-line reservation to the final dessert and coffee. Excellent marks for the entire thing.
My first visit to Bud's was more than I anticipated. The dining room is exquisitely renovated, appropriate for an historic colonial structure ambiance. The food is beyond five-star quality. The service staff are gracious and dutiful. Personally meeting Ken and talking with him all evening was pleasantly engaging and highly enlightening for this newcomer to the Silver Run area.
Friday night has been our date night for many years and we go to many different restaurants in our area. Bud's has been one of the restaurants that we go back for date night. We enjoy the food and having the ability to talk to each other.
I love Bud's. Great food and great service. The regular menu is really good, but they always have really cool, great specials. The chilli and the peanut butter pie are two of the best that I've had. Either way, we just always have a really good experience. Super nice folks and really good food.
Crab and goat cheese cheesecake is worth the trip! Dinner and dessert were also wonderful. Ken, the owner, came out to make suggestions and an impromptu off menu tasting. Great experience all around!
Not what I was expecting for our 2nd visit. Our special anniversary celebration contained food not up to the usual standard for Bud's (My rib eye steak was nearly a third pure fat) and my wife's Chicken Chesapeake was very small for the price). Having eaten here before, I was looking to Bud's for a memorable meal on this special occasion but unfortunately, it did not happen. Was it that it was on Preakness Saturday which marred the ocassion?
Walking into Bud's is like coming home ! We are bar diners but enjoy great food. Buds has a beautiful dining room and also a great bar area.
My daughter and I stopped by for lunch on Mothers Day. I had the beet salad w/ crab cake and my daughter had a grilled Caesar w/ salmon. Both were excellent and the salmon was cooked as ordered
The bartender was attentive but not overbearing. And although is was quite busy, the meal was well paced. Hard to beat Bud's!
Have driven by Buds @ Silver Run for years when traveling and have always thought it would be a good place to eat, but never made it happen as it's out of our normal radius. Planning a spontaneous get together with friends, Buds seemed to be a mid-point for both couples, about an hour for each of us. WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!! Very upscale and fine dining but not overdone. Menu is creative and the Chef executes well. Comfortable atmosphere and a hidden gem for sure. Have already recommended Buds to several family & friends we saw the following day and would absolutely make the trip back. Totally understand why it's been voted Carroll County's best for multiple years. If you're in PA...even as far as Gettysburg, make the drive. It's easy and very well worth it!!
Homecoming
Once again we had an excellent meal. The grilled romaine sounds strange but is unbelievably outstanding.
Food is outstanding and Carla makes you feel like family!
An amazing meal and the server Clara was amazing and made us feel very welcome. A must if you are looking to eat in the Westminster MD area.
Something was amiss with the Open Table reservation system. When I tried to book online, the response was that the restaurant had no availability until 1:30 that Sunday. So I took the 1:30 slot and detained our gusets with small talk until the appointed hour. When we reached the restaurant, it was virtually empty. Next time, I'll call the establishment directly, bypassing Open Table.
Good food. We had filet, scallops, crab cake and chicken Maryland. Party of four. Service was attentive, with a little occasional prompting.
Catered to my wife's need for gluten-free, though choices would be improved with one or two GF desserts, especially given this was a combined birthday and other celebration occasion.
A little pricier than expected, but overall good.
Excellent service, terrific food. Parking lot is a mess, but that can't be remedied.
