Buddakan - Philadelphia
I would recommend if you don’t have a shellfish allergy. If you do have a shellfish allergy, the menu selection is small. They also can’t make changes to items (like the chicken) to make is shellfish free.
Great food, great atmosphere. Service was really good without being over bearing.
Fantastic evening out. Wine was delightful and a great suggestion, food portions were surprisingly large. Ribs and pork belly buns were enough for us but we order more to taste the food.
I'd definitely recommend this place to friends looking for an energetic night out.
Great food and ambiance and our server Brandon was subtly attentive and seemed knowledgeable about menu items. My only complaint is he didn’t offer us a dessert for our anniversary, though we ordered desserts ourselves nothing was brought out to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I noted the occasion on or reservation. But overall it was a romantic dining experience. Oh the downstairs bar makes better cosmos than the upstairs bar!
The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! The only issue I had was we were seated upstairs and there was a table of what seamed room be drunk people that were yelling their conversation and screaming things repeatedly so that kinda ruined the mood/atmosphere
Here for a birthday. Did not disappoint
Food is creative and atmosphere is eclectic. Always enjoy seeing the Buddha.
This is an amazing restaurant! Our group ordered the chefs table. There was something for everyone. All the dishes were incredible. The sea bass was my favorite. It just melted in your mouth. The wait staff were friendly and attuned to our needs. It was the perfect place to celebrate our company’s first year anniversary. I have already told about a dozen people about our amazing experience.
We were enjoying a night out from business meetings. We had a wonderful night, the food was amazing!! They have also vegan menu which was very tasty with the flavors that characterize Buddakan. The ambience very nice as well. I would could back for sure when I am back in Philly ❤️
food was great, atmosphere was inviting and I would definitely return soon.
The food and experience were wonderful. Enjoyed learning about the different dishes from our server. Definitely try the Dim Sum!
I would def recommend this place when you're in Philly. The food was delicious, the portions are perfect. I personally didn't like the sashimi, I didn't think the topping or dressing on it was good but my bf liked it. I also found the broth in soup dumplings to be salty - and I like salt! We has a very delicious cocktail. The service was really great as well. The ambiance was really good.
Chelsea our server was amazing. The food came out quickly and most importantly it was delicious.
This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I come here from delaware every Valentine’s Day to come and enjoy the amazing food and ambience. The staff always do their best to accommodate me and my diet(I’m vegetarian) and have a vegetarian menu ready when I arrive at our table. Thank you Buddakan. Until next year! :-)
Everything was great, from the table to the server, music and food!
Good overall, hated our seating. We sat near the walkway and the front entrance. It was freezing. Food was amazing. Our waitress Ann was a sweetheart.
Exceptional is an understatement. Hadn’t been there in many years and forgot what I was missing. Can’t wait to go back! I will make this my go to once again.
Get the filet!!!!
The food was overall great and worth the trip. However, the waitress took way too long and she didn’t tell us about specials that night or give us any intro on the restaurant (since it was our first time) Our dining experience took over 2 hours.
Despite the minor hiccups we would come again for the food not the experience.
GREAT MENU, SUPER ATMOSPHERE, EXCELLANT PAN ASIAN CHOICES. GREAT FOR A DINNER DATE WITH THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE.
Last time I was there was years ago ....went last week & still as outstanding as ever. Place is consistently good & never disappoints & you are never rushed.
We always have an amazing experience at Buddakan. The food and service are consistently perfect. One of our absolute favorite restaurants in the city
My friend was in from Denver. It was her first time and she enjoyed it immensely. This is one of my favorite Philadelphia restaurant. Service and freshness of food keep me coming back.
Outstanding menu. Food did not disappoint. A little loud so hard to hear server.
This was my second visit to the restaurant. Everything was delicious!
I have been to Buddakan several times the past 6 months and it has always been excellent. I am never disappointed in the food or service. I am looking forward to return again soon. One of my most favorite restaurants in Philly.
Buddakan is FABULOUS. I had such a great time I will definitely return.
The food was amazing. I recommend the lamb chops. The service was great and I will be returning
Everything was great! The service, food, and ambiance was amazing. My only complaint would be, the music was so loud it was hard to hear my server and my husband. It was very hard trying to have a conversation during dinner.
Fun atmosphere to meet for an early family dinner on a Sunday. All of our waitress's recommendations were excellent.
Worst service I’ve ever experienced.
Expensive food and not at all worth it.
I can’t say the food was above and beyond any other I’ve eaten. It was fine but not over the top interesting or imaginative.
I've dined at Buddakan several times, and have always been happy. On this particular instance, which may have been a factor of it being Sunday night, the food was not nearly as good as usual. The lobster was overdone and the chicken was rubbery. On a positive note, the service was wonderful as always. I will be going back, I'm sure, just a bit disappointed this time around.
Waited over 30 minutes for our table. Food was great but very salty.
Trendy restaurant. Interesting people watching and cool decor, but food was not as good as it should have been for the price.
Way over priced for what you get. Then again, Steven Starr restaurants are over priced and over rated anyways.
We arrived early for our dinner reservation for 3 people and were seated promptly. The food was very good, and the noise level is what we expected - sufficient to have a conversation.
Our food arrived quickly after ordering, but our waitress /server could have been more helpful. We asked for food paring suggestions for our entrée selections but ended up (unnecessarily @ $28) ordered lobster fried rice to only later find out that (white) rice was included with one of the entrées selected. The server we had at a previous visit was much better.
FYI – If you are celebrating a birthday and inform the restaurant in advance, they will include a “free” sparkler in a desert you order and pay for.
Great service. Food was quick and individually prepared.
