Buddakan - Philadelphia
service was very good, a little disappointed they only offered 1 dipping sauce for the eggrolls
when my wife and I lived in Philadelphia, Buddakan was our date night “go to” and always take the opportunity to visit whenever we are back in the area. The experience it alway festive, the food is alway good and service is always attentive.
Food was amazing . It was recommended to us by friends and it did not disappoint . Service wasn’t the best and maybe that’s an area of opportunity for the team to improve . Drinks were pretty great as well .
Everyone was responsive and friendly, from the hostess to our server to the bussers. Our server checked in with us regularly, but not so much that is was disruptive. He was willing to make suggestions when asked, but never forced selections. One of us is gluten free and when asked about options, our waiter quickly provided a gluten free/gluten sensitivity menu which had more options than we expected. We thoroughly enjoyed a house salad, crispy shrimp, dan dan noodles, and crispy calamari salad. The curried cauliflower was delicious.
Beautiful restaurant - perfect for a special occasion. Our server was lovely and I still dream about the Dim Sum sampler.
Tasting menu was extraordinary as always!! Edamame dumplings are always the highlight!
Buddakan was highly recommended by a friend. I found to food to be OK and the noise level was too much. You could not talk at a normal tone because it was just too noisy. The food was not special for a very expensive restaurant. I have been to a lot better. Good location on Market Street.
This is my favorite Philly special occasion restaurant.
First lunch at Buddakan. We’ve dined there many times. The food was great, the service great, the noise level is distracting.
Great, went for mother's day and my mother truly enjoyed herself. Food was great, service was a bit slow but it was Mother's Day so they had quite a few customers to accommodate .
King Crab appetizer was a delicious start to the meal, which in closed the Black Pepper steak, shrimp dumplings, and fried rice. Mint chocolate cake was delicious (although somewhat small, but was enough for us as we were full from the food!) The place itself is very scenic, perfect for a date, special occasion, or business meal. Definitely recommend the zen-gria!
My family and I truly enjoyed our mother’s day dinner. We were able to have a great conversation without being drowned out by noise. It was a great experience.
Everyone was very pleasant from the young ladies at the hostess desk as well as the waiter. As I was waiting for my guest to arrive, I was thinking to myself that it would be great to sit upstairs. Without asking, we were escorted upstairs by a very pleasant hostess. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you
Food was excellent as usual that's why my mom wanted to go back. Service wad impeccable.
I've been hearing about Buddakan for years now, but never actually went until a couple of days ago. I would say that the hype mostly matches the experience. The ambiance is the first thing that hits you in the face when you walk through the door. It's got a cool modern vibe that's simple, modern, and hip. The service was outstanding and our waiter was very attentive. Food came out very quickly for a restaurant that busy. The food itself was pretty delicious, although I'm not quite sure it was the "best" Asian fusion I've ever had. It was definitely worth visiting at least once. We'll see if we end up back there again.
Excellent choice for a dinning experience in Philadelphia, great food, great service, love it!
Bento box trays are warped. Spin—- accident waiting to happen? Window kitchen door should be cleaned. Details matter
Food great! Service excellent
Great food, service and ambiance. One of my favorite restaurants!
We did the chef choice, to much food but was great
Total ripoff. Food mediocre at best. Dumplings and fish over cooked. Da dan noodles soupy. Prices shocking given poor quality of food. Philadelphia has many options that are twice the quality at half the price.
We went for my husbands birthday and the restaurant called to confirm my reservation. They asked if I would like a sparkler put on a dessert if we ordered one. We ordered one for that reason but nothing was put on it or mentioned.
The food was delicious however the server was indifferent.
Wonderful evening from beginning to end. Loved the cozy booth we sat in. Our waiter, Joseph, was excellent at helping us navigate the menu. We had the shrimp bao buns which were outstanding with the dumpling sampler and lobster egg rolls which didn't disappoint. Perfect for 4 to share. Joseph helped us select the perfect amount of food for entrees to share including the branzino, lomein, lobster fried rice, charred beef dish. Of all the dishes, probably only the lobster fried rice didn't stand out as super flavorful. We enjoyed the donuts based on Joseph's recommendation. Didn't disappoint!
My lady friend and I had dinner on Friday evening. The food is outstanding and the menu variety is very special. We shared the dim sum sampler as an appetizer. All four choices are excellent. We each had fish as entrees. They were prepared perfectly. We had the wasabi mashed potatoes as a side. The meal is worth it just for the mashed potatoes, and I am not exaggerating! The desserts are very good. The noise level is higher than I prefer, but, I understand a top restaurant being full and busy on a Friday night.
Chelsea, our server, was amazing! The food was excellent. It was a great location to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday.
Very good. Good ambience. We have been before. The food is a little bland, but high quality.
Every time me I have been here, EVERYTHING about this place is stellar. The food, the ambiance and the service. Go make some memories...and have the edamame dumplings while you are at it!
Food was very good. Restaurant is dark and loud. Service was great.
We have been to Buddakan many times over the last 20 years and never had a bad meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who ask.
Went for our anniversary! Food and service was excellent!
Amazing food. The ambience is not near the excitement of the NYC Buddakan but the food was outstanding and equal to NYC. Some nice variations on the menu. Great service.
Sooooo gooood. Best food ever!!!!! Amazing service and the food is to die for. A bit expensive but worth it
Great food. Fun for kids, we went early 5/530 to avoid dinner crowds. Food was served quickly.
Felt very sick after this meal.
Food was too slaty1 disappointment in not receiving birthday dessert with birthday candle..It was my grandson's 21st birthday and he was clearly disappointed at lack of celebratory candle.
The best time to go to Buddakan is for lunch when it is relatively quiet. I cannot go there for dinner because the noise is so loud that I find it unpleasant to be there. But lunchtime is better. The food is delicious, especially the edamame dumplings. The miso soup is excellent, filled with bits of tofu but also mushrooms and some greens. I also had the barbecued spare ribs which were yummy. It’s also a beautiful place.
Tremendous dining experience!
I’ve eaten in the one in NY but wanted to try the original when staying in Old City, Philadelphia. Everything from the food to the service was outstanding. Surpassed my expectations. Fun atmosphere, delicious miso cod, Asian Cesar salad, shrimp lo mein, lobster egg rolls, all fresh and delicious. No complaints!
The food just isn’t that good, very salty. The NYC location is so much better. Very overpriced for the quality of the food.
You are definitely in for a good time at Buddakan. Great food and service. Can't wait to go back.
We really enjoyed our meal. Mine meal was lightly fried - Kung Pao monkfish. I should have realized that and ordered something else. We all agreed the best dinner selections were the sea bass and filet. Dumpling appetizers and rock shrimp were wonderful!
