Buddakan NY Ratings and Reviews
Perfect for my Swiss stepmother - if a little loud (!) - but Buddakan delivered a glamorous feeling room, delicious food (and very easy; we chose the tasting menu so we wouldn’t have to pore through the extensive menu in the dark), interesting cocktails and an extremely helpful and friendly waitstaff.
Nothing like this in Switzerland - she felt that she’d been somewhere that only New York could provide
Very busy loud environment. Greeted and told to wait at the bar. Seated at our reservation time ina noisy space off to the side with a large group. Manager was nice enough to move us. Otherwise poor seating. Food is good... service was great. The food is good not great. The place is very lively if that is the goal for dinner. Wanted to try this restaurant by reputation once is enough
This visit was our second visit to Buddakan NYC, and it was arguably better than our previous visit two years ago. We came up from DC specifically to eat here. Our favourite menu item (General Tso's Dumplings) were still on the menu, the new things we tried were incredible, and the service impeccable. The young man serving us said one thing that made all the difference. Many servers will ask, "Are you finished?" as a way to ask if they can take your plates, but he said, "Have you fully enjoyed your meal?" This simple rephrasing felt so much nicer, and removed any rush we might have otherwise felt from our meal. The noise level is high and energetic, but the building design somehow allows you to have a relatively quiet conversation of your own, which allows it to still feel cosy and romantic.
My second time here and yet again the staff here took my food allergies seriously. They relayed my allergies to the chef and told me what I could and couldn't eat. After being poisoned two nights ago by another Asian restaurant, I was a bit nervous, but had a wonderful experience. Thanks to the wonderful staff, I was able to enjoy my dinner.
My two friends and I were visiting from Ireland and looking forward to our date in Buddakan. From start to finish it was the most amazing experience. The food was out of this world (those dumplings😋)excellent service with very pleasant staff and gorgeous cocktails too! Buddakan is a must for anyone visiting NYC!
Delicious food in spectacular venue. At times a little too dark for us, especially when using restrooms, but everything else was fantastic. We were celebrating our first dinner out as newly weds, and the staff made the night extra special. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. Thank you
It took quite a bit for them to seat us, which was irritating because I was super hungry but when they did I was happy because the food was outstanding. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The waiter was amazing, knowledgeable and asked about allergies and made sure that he accommodated us! The edamame dumplings and sticky rice were out of this world as well as the first chicken dish on the menu under the chicken section.
Cant wait to come back here! It’s amazing
Great atmosphere - seating is tricky but the space was huge so if you get there early you have a better choice. My waiter was outstanding but we felt as soon as we finished something someone swooped down and grabbed our dish - felt a little rush..
Buddakan is just great for a special occasion so I highly recommend it for bdays holidays etc
Overall I enjoyed my dining. I didn't care for the waiting that has to be done in the beginning even if one has a reservation. Other than that, the ambience was perfect, the decor beautiful, the service was okay and the food delicious!! The chili rock shrimps and lobster fried rice, deinifetly recommend.
Second time at Buddakan and have to say it has only gotten better. We had friends visiting from Tampa and thought this was a great place to get together for dinner.
Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, food and cocktails. The standout for me was the General Tso dumplings. The lobster and crab fried rice were also a big hit.
