Father/daughter special dinner was just what I hoped for. We had the lollipops, carrot dumplings, tuna spring rolls and crab sticky rice. Our waiter was excellent, drinks were delicious and the banana cheesecake dessert was to die for.
We went to Buddakan with high expectations, which is probably at the heart of our disappointment. We expected an oustanding restaurant, which is simply mediocre at best. When it comes to ambience, I caught a quick glimpse of the inside while waiting to be seated outdoors and it looked stunning. However, the outdoor area is cheap and pretty awful. I would highly discourage anyone from booking outdoor seating: it destroys any potential this place has for a good time. In terms of food, it was just ok. In fact, out of 4 dishes, two were not good(cauliflower lollipops and shrimp noodles) and only the black cod was worth it. In terms of service, its a resurrection story. The main course came while we were still enjoying the starters(both courses arrived in less than 30 minutes), which inevitably ruined part of the experience. After making note of that, we were compensated with a round of drinks, which was generous. Overall, would not come back and would not recommend. There are too many good restaurants in NYC and too few nights to enjoy them, making it difficult to justify wasting one on Buddakan.
Excellent service as always, and delicious food!
Buddakan was an amazing experience. Great food, excellent service, they had a live DJ with super nice music. We were a party of 8 and all came very satisfied with the whole experience.
We celebrated a birthday with outdoor dining and a shared tasting menu—it was all wonderful! (And the vegetarian in our group simply ordered a la carte.)
Son visiting took him for Peking duck. Delicious. We’ve been there quite a few times. Always delicious
Great ambience and fancy place for a nice dinner!
One of the best fusion Asian food in New York and maybe all over.
Great food good stuff
Everything was great! The service and the food! I highly recommend this place! Five star restaurant for sure.
Wow, honestly everything was fantastic. My partner and I were blown away by the amazing food, service and overall ambiance of the Buddakan restaurant. We will certainly be visiting again in the future. Thank you for an amazing experience!
My wife and I celebrated my 45th birthday and it was great.
Delicious meal and our server who was in training was amazing. Peking duck was delicious as was the dumplings and pork buns.
Always a fantastic time here with delicious food
Food was great, the server was really nice the only thing that I would change is the seating.. For 4 times in a row the hostess team didn’t put us in the downstairs floor even when we saw empty tables, We asked to the manager and she said el can’t changed your table next time I would really appreciate it if you guys try to accommodate us downstairs thanks!!
I've been a hugely supportive fan of Buddakan since it opened and go often. I held a party there just 2 weeks agoinside! Last night was one the worst outdoor dining experiences I have ever had in NYC. Chaos in every direction, not very clean, the noise was horrific, the food was first rate but the waitress accidentally dumped a bowl of salad directly on my dining partner - staining her sweater and blouse and purse ...all of which will have to be dry cleaned - and did not even offer to compensate her in any way and nor did the manager who was present. I was amazed at the sloppiness and lack of protocols at a restaurant of Buddakhan's stature
Overall it was good, not great as I expected. I didnt like the Peking duck for two, it was dry. I’m not a chef, I once followed a recipe for a Peking duck and it was waaaaay better. I’ve tried Peking duck all over the world and this is the worst one (for $70 usd I thought it would be good at least). I really liked the mixed dumplings appetizers for two. I would not come back since I don’t think the cost is worth the experience. Place is too loud. Service is really nice.
All the food came out in 15 minutes—dirty plates still on the table and no place to actually put the food. Foot itself was mediocre.
Servicio muy bueno, buen ambiente, buena comida China, bueno para compartir!
Josh was a great server
went to this restaurant with friends and the food was amazing
Loved the service, food and ambience was amazing!
Dinner with friends.
It was my first time. Everyone from the door all the way to the table was very professional, organized and nice. The food was delicious. Interior was great, it was a good romantic dinner, in terms of value it wasn’t bad at all, I was expecting it to be more expensive than it was. It’s a great experience and I’m definitely going to come again to try other things on the menu I haven’t tried. Thing that stood out the most is their service, very on point
Noisy, substandard food (fish almost inedible, duck salad bad). Service intrusive. Very noisy.
I never write reviews, but this time is totally worth it:
We enjoyed the night so much from beginning to end!!! The food superb as always, the service impeccable, ambience as nice as it can get! After all these years, Buddakan NY remains fabulous and continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in NY.
100/100 highly recommended!
Everything was great. We had an issue with the say sauce, it was uggly and and need to change the whole dish. That's a quite bit dangerous.
Great food great service!
The music was so loud, it was difficult to have a conversation. Energetic is the wrong word; annoying is Meroe like it. The service was mediocre. The food, however was delicious. The Peking duck was fabulous and portion was generous. I have been before and will come again, BUT lower the volume
Goodness, I could barely hear anyone at my table talking. The noise level was deafening.
Excellent as always!
My party was stuck in traffic and would be late in arriving on time for our reservation. The front desk (I think her name was Nada??) was understanding and so very nice in accommodating us a little bit later.
Brian, our waiter, was amazing! We were a party of vegetarians so he was very knowledgeable at making suggestions and offering substitutions. Also, he was great at going along with our party's antics on who would pay the check!
Only disadvantage was being seated outdoors but looking forward to coming back when we can enjoy the restaurant's ambiance/interior.
Oh, since Brian was terrific - how about giving him a raise!?
Amazing food. Outstanding service and great atmosphere
Great place to host special occasions. Food was good; staff was excellent. Great ambiance.
Not good communication amongst the waiters…
Food was great. We made a late reservations so the service felt rushed. However we had a great time. Little disappointed that our appetizers and main course came out at the same time. If you can’t accommodate us for a certain time please don’t make it an option.
