The food was so bad. Like..unbelievably bad. The water was the best thing we had. The noodles were overcooked and you could taste the MSG, the chicken lacked flavor, the dumplings were nothing special. Not sure what the hype behind this place is..maybe the drinks are good? Would not recommend at all.
Unique, amazing, flavorful food! Tuna spring rolls were my favorite.
Love the outdoor seating!! Felt like I had so much space which some places don’t have outside bc of limited space so really appreciate that! Food fantastic as always and actually got one of the non alcoholic drinks and added alcohol to it and it was amazing!
The staff are amazing, the setting is great as well. The food was pretty good. I enjoy the spot.
Very good food . Ambience great . Would def eat here again
It was very nice the servers had to many tables so he would take everyone order before ours I felt bad for him
He needed help
Everything was wonderful the customer service was EXCELLENT. The meals were delicious. The only issue was the lighting it was extremely dark and hard to see.
Birthday dinner was lively
Staff was a bit lethargic and not exactly how they used to be... the food was very salty and filled with
MSG this time around. A bit disappointed with the service...
I had no idea this gem was located in NYC. The food was delicious. I shared with my daughter but I’ll be back by myself so I can have it for two meals. LOL
The food was very good and fresh. The french martinis rocked.
Food was very tasty! It came too quickly (within minutes so I am wondering how fresh it was) however altogether it was great.
Service tooo Slow taking the orders... too fast bringing the food.
You don't enjoy the moment.
Did not enjoy my time here, won’t be coming back.
Best food ever. Cosmos were delicious and the price is amazing.
This will be my new go to spot in the MPD. My only regret is that I haven’t been here sooner! Food was delicious and without bougie “our restaurant is cool” prices. And don’t even get me started on the decor! Great for dates and girl’s nights. I will be returning...probably within the next three weeks lol.
Great food and service. Music was ridiculously loud, took away from the experience which was otherwise outstanding!
Our favorite restaurant. Fantastic every single time. The service is always impeccable and friendly, the food is beautiful, the atmosphere is cool. Love everything about this place.
Maybe I was expecting a lot but I was really surprised by my dining experience. Yes, it’s expensive, but so is Tao across the street snd I’ve had wonderful experiences there. My dining experience at buddakan started with okay appetizers and drinks and then moved on to an almost inedible sea-bass from over-seasoning, a luke-warm steak dish, and two very mediocre chicken dishes. One of them was basically a sweet and sour chicken but wasn’t as good and without any real elevation.
The ambiance is nice for a chic dining experience but that is the only place where I felt this was worth it. The server took a while to take our orders and also messed up the birthday dessert. He apologized but it was half-hearted. By the end I was just happy to leave. I wouldn’t recommend for the food or service- maybe get a drink there for the ambiance and feel.
A visually nice place but the food was average. The drinks were delicious. The service was very good.
It was a very nice experience in Buddakan NYC .
We arrived ahead of nime for our reservation at 3:16 pm .
We moved it to 4 pm to avail the inside dining of the restaurant. Rich at the reception was very nice and changed it . We came back and we were the first one to be seated.
Mat was the one to usher us downstairs, I was so amazed of the ambiance and the elegant decor especially the huge chandeliers. Very high ceilings and the table seating, very cozy and Wowwwwww with the candles... loved it!!!
Our lady server Elise was superb 👌👌👌
She’s very welcoming and courteous and professional.
She did great job, very attentive and accommodating.
Thank you very much Elise 💖💖💖💖 their drinks and food choices were great. My husband loved the Smoked sea bass , well cooked to perfection and also the shrimps appetizer, it had the crunchiness and a little bit spicy to it . We had the dim sum tasting tower that was okay and the Peking duck. We were so full but I did not want to miss the crying chocolate for dessert. Yes !!! It was delicious 🤤 and to my surprise, they served it as a compliment for my birthday 🎂 Thank you Buddakan NYC !!!! I was very grateful and appreciative of your generous hospitality 💖
I can’t wait to go back!!!! I really loved it !!! Definitely I do recommend this restaurant 💖 It was very convenient for garage valet parking, and near to Chelsea market where my husband bought me flowers 💐 Thank you 🙏
The food was excellent and in all fairness, the outdoor dining is not geared to be top rate - it was somewhat understaffed and slow. Looking forward to returning for indoor dining and expect the service to be top quality.
Food was delicious. Ambiance was amazing. Great date night here
Go Go Go if you have the money , a special event, or just want to be in a cool, posh looking restaurant with good music to dance in your seat to. The food was very well prepared. Our server was attentive, kind, and put you at ease. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great outdoor seating. Very tasty food. Wonderful and knowledgeable server.
lobster rolls were to die for! ask for apps and noodles to be served at the same time
Unique restaurant. Food is overpriced but it taste good. Nice atmosphere.
Buddakan is always a vibe. Great scenery, great people and great food. The only thing you can complain about is the pricing, but even with that you know exactly what to expect when you're going. Everything on the menu tastes from good to great. From the various dumplings (shout out to the oxtail) to the lobster fried rice and the shrimp noodles. There's not a miss, although some are better than others. I can't wait to go back.
Traveling from out of town. Would recommend
Best atmosphere restaurant in Chelsea
Overall it was a very pleasant experience. There was one large birthday party who were little loud, other than that, it was very nice. We had ordered Kang Pao Fish which could’ve been less sweet. Other food items were delicious. Would definitely go back.
The food never disappoints (though the cocktails honestly were too mild/diluted)
The portions are fairly decent and the flavors very well balanced.
Also for vegetarians not only are their decent number of choices, but they also try to change the dishes wherever it is possible! Big plus
I always like the vibe and the food is pretty good - but our waiter kept disappearing and we had to flag him down multiple times to wipe the table, order drinks, dessert menu etc. Overall the whole experience is a bit meh.
The food at Buddakan was never outstanding (one went for the ambience) but it has now deteriorated to the point that I won't be returning to the restaurant. Over fried, over sauced food--and still tasteless. No delicacy of flavors at all. I felt I was eating fried plastic, doused in sauce. How does this place survive with food like this?
Love the place. You must try their dim sum sampler
Generally, when I go to Buddakan, it’s an experience to behold. Beautiful, elegant, sophisticated atmosphere where people constantly want to take pictures and selfies to remember. The food is usually second to none, and service is top tier. What I got this time, was nothing but atmosphere and a loss of wander.
The food was okay. Starting with the appetizer, I got the short-rib and scallion pancake (thinking it was the actual rib, not a minced rib topping on flat bread). It was mediocre at best.
My drink, the “Tranquility” cocktail was watered down. I’ve had better drinks at the local bar, for 1/4 of the price.
My entree was the smoked sea bass which albeit was good, was overwhelmed with (can’t think of the shredded topping comparable to pickled cabbage at this time), but the smoky flavor was still a delight.
My side dish was the lobster fried rice, with a touch of saffron and too much cilantro. To top it off, it was luke warm to cool.
The service, however, was by far the worse I’ve received. I’ve had a better welcoming at McDonald’s than I did yesterday (Sunday, May 2). Perhaps, it was because I was eating at 10 pm, and the restaurant closed at 12 am. I find that service and food degrades the closer they get to closing.
This time, I’ll blame it on short staffing and COVID. As for my waiter Phillip, please train him to be more attentive to the needs of the guests. Thanks in advance.
Food quality has gone down due to covid, of course, overpriced items, and service was very slow, waited 1 hour just to get drinks and order apps. Some food items like the veggie fried rice and lo mein were not done well and tasteless. It took another hour to prepare the entrees as well.
Service was amazing! Food was soooo GOOD! OMG!!! Loved it! Great night out!
The lobster fried rice was very fishy and I couldn’t eat it. The oxtail and general tso dumplings were decent though.
