Really outstanding dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday. Always a great time at Buddakan!
Consistently incredible Asian fusion food in a great atmosphere with fantastic service, even with limited capacity in the middle of this crisis
Everything was amazing the service, the food and ambience! Will def be returning thank you :)
Inventive, unique dishes in a gorgeous location.
After covid-19 the quality of the food is not the same
The dough of the dumplings was thicker that usual.they seems frozen
Amazing food and drinks , Deff worth the price !!!
They sat us in the lounge instead of main restaurant area so we lost some of the ambiance we go the Buddakan for. Overall food was great!
The hostess was very friendly, professional and kind. The busy boys were officiant and respectful. Our server was excellent as well. Food was super tasty. We had the shrimp dumpling, pork potsticker, duck for two and Chinese sausage friend rice. Did not not disappoint. Everything was delicious. We finished off our meals with a carrot cake and omg... to die for. Wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I wasn’t please with was with one of their signature cocktails “smoke” it was kind strong. I told the server and she said she’d replace them with a tequila lechee martini; which was great. I was just under the impression/ she made it seem like she would take the original drink off the bill. But it wasn’t. Either way we tipped fairly (25%) because the service was great. The drink was my mistake. Everything else was great. We were celebrating a birthday but will return for regular date nights.
Everything was pretty disappointing. The food felt like the ingredients were unincorporated. Lobster fried rice got sent back, pork buns were basic and the bun was stale, lobster egg roll was ok but not what you would expect. Overall it was bad, I was surprised at the low quality.
I love this place. Everything on the menu is delicious!
A classic that is a must visit when in NYC. Have been coming for 10 years.
Took my parents to buddakan for their anniversary and they absolutely loved it. The server was very helpful and had all the answers to our questions. Food is delicious Especially the edamame dumplings.
Great birthday dinner. Very friendly and efficient staff
The food was good, we enjoyed it. Unfortunately due to pandemic there is a limited capacity and we got seated at a super small table - no barrier and constant foot traffic passing by. It was like a makeshift table in the middle of a hallway. It was in the main hallway where the hosts were taking the people to their table. I shared my feedback to the manager and they didn’t seem too interested or cared at all.
The restaurant was well set up to comply with covid guidelines. The inside of the restaurant is huge and they definitely space everyone out sufficiently. They also temp check everyone upon entry. I felt super safe. The service and food was great.
I’ve been to Buddakan several times over the years and it’s always a great experience. The food is amazing quality and the atmosphere is like no other in New York! Unfortunately this time around, the service wasn’t great. We felt rushed the entire time with the food arriving on top of each other. Makes me think the server forgot to course out the meal. We were not even halfway through our dim sum when our main course arrived. I sent it back as we didn’t even have room for the food on the table and the food runner was confused as what to do with the food. I understand the time limit on the table but at this point we had been sitting for 20 mins. I cut the server some slack given everything going on but he was incredibly green and inexperienced. This is definitely something that needs to be addressed with the staff when the check average here is about $150 ahead on a casual evening.
I have been to Buddakan many times. This time was the biggest disappointment of all. I booked a week in advance, called to ensure we will be given a nice table and when we arrived we were given a dirty table in the entrance of the restaurant next to the dj. That is NOT what I had discussed with them when I called to confirm my reservation. The hostesses for the first time where rude, unprofessional and made us wait an additional 45 minutes past our reservation time in order to seat us to a better table. I understand there is Covid and limited capacity, but I do believe it is the restaurant's obligation to accommodate the guests since we had a reservation.
To add to this, and let me just say I used to LOVE the food at Buddakan, the food this time was quite disappointing. All of the dishes arrived semi-cold and not as presentable as they used to be... It was definitely not worth the value this time. I am not sure if I will be visiting again any time soon...
Too bad, this used to be my favorite restaurant and one of my top choices for dinner with my Hedge Fund clients or friends and family.
Buddakan NYC has an amazing ambiance both inside and out. The food has been consistently devious through the many years since I have been dining there. My favorites are the Peking Duck (the only place I enjoy eating duck) & the Edamame Dumplings to name a few. Definitely my favorite Asian Fusion restaurant in NYC! I wish they would provide cooking classes to the public.
First and foremost, Buddakan is my favorite. However, most recent experience was subpar. I don't know if its because of Covid, but plates were never changed, usually would be changed without asking at least once. Also all three hot dishes came out at the same time, you can imagine how many of them stayed hot after the first one was finished. Outside of these two issues, food as always great.
Great outdoor vibe and COVID friendly. Amazing food and service.
I have been to Budakkan before and I know how good their food taste! This last visit kinda put a bad taste in my mouth! Their food was bland, the hostess was rude, maybe she was overwhelmed with the many ppl she was catering to but that still didn’t warrant her taking 15 mins to get me a straw whiles the drink was infront me with the ice melting. When i said something, she very rudely tells me that she has been assisting other customers and hadn’t gone downstairs yet to get a straw so i will need to wait! Everything was chaotic and was kind of embarrassing for me as I had bragged to my friend that the food was good.
Lobster egg rolls suck
The Food was Bomb. The Service was spectacular, shoutout to Bryan. Loved the aesthetics and ambiance. Next time im in New York, I will definitely be coming back!
I had a great experience loved everything about it
Food was great. Would’ve liked to have ordered more drinks but were asked to leave due to another party’s reservation. Will come back once things loosen up.
Great service by the staff and beautiful place. But you go to a restaurant to eat... The chef's main ingredient seems to be sugar.
When comparing my experience with similar restaurant's..all that comes to mind is seriously what a letdown
The food at Buddakan remains top notch! Drinks are expensive fyi.
We had an excellent dining experience. Thank you.
We dined outdoors so noise level was commensurate with location. Service was excellent, food always good.
Great! The only thing that would have made our experience better is if we were offered a birthday special or options, ie complimentary slice of cake or dessert.
Missed several occasions to dine at Buddakan. I’m up upset I’ve waited this long I’ll be back promptly. Thank You for your services
Never disappoints - not even during COVID while sitting on the sidewalk. Best restaurant in NYC!
birthday dinner was amazing with friends
The best I love this placevwith a passion
Even with outdoor heating it wasnt enough. But service was really good, Brian was amazing
The food was great... the staff was very patient and cordial.. explained everything that we needed to know in a kind fashion
Amazing atmosphere, great Asian fusion food. First indoor dining since everything reopened and they did a great job, plus it was nice to be there without the crowds. Highly recommend for a classic NYC experience.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food remains at the same high level of taste every time I go. I love the new outdoor seating because of COVID-19 restrictions. Susana, our server on Saturday night was great. She was pleasant, attentive and made great recommendations when we asked.
The only negative is Buddakan’s policy during COVID. No matter how much money you’re spending by ordering food and continued cocktails; the hostess comes up after 90 minutes and informs you they have to seat the next reservation. A lot of the patrons were not happy (including my friend and I). People from other tables were making comments when they were leaving about the policy because they wanted to order more drinks and food. They seemed to be very strict about this policy on a Saturday night.
My favorite plates: Pork Buns, oxtail dumplings, tea smoked spare ribs and the chocolate malted tart.
Great food and service. Beautiful and sexy venue
