Great outdoor seating. Very tasty food. Wonderful and knowledgeable server.
Traveling from out of town. Would recommend
Best atmosphere restaurant in Chelsea
Overall it was a very pleasant experience. There was one large birthday party who were little loud, other than that, it was very nice. We had ordered Kang Pao Fish which could’ve been less sweet. Other food items were delicious. Would definitely go back.
I always like the vibe and the food is pretty good - but our waiter kept disappearing and we had to flag him down multiple times to wipe the table, order drinks, dessert menu etc. Overall the whole experience is a bit meh.
The food at Buddakan was never outstanding (one went for the ambience) but it has now deteriorated to the point that I won't be returning to the restaurant. Over fried, over sauced food--and still tasteless. No delicacy of flavors at all. I felt I was eating fried plastic, doused in sauce. How does this place survive with food like this?
Generally, when I go to Buddakan, it’s an experience to behold. Beautiful, elegant, sophisticated atmosphere where people constantly want to take pictures and selfies to remember. The food is usually second to none, and service is top tier. What I got this time, was nothing but atmosphere and a loss of wander.
The food was okay. Starting with the appetizer, I got the short-rib and scallion pancake (thinking it was the actual rib, not a minced rib topping on flat bread). It was mediocre at best.
My entree was the smoked sea bass which albeit was good, was overwhelmed with (can’t think of the shredded topping comparable to pickled cabbage at this time), but the smoky flavor was still a delight.
My side dish was the lobster fried rice, with a touch of saffron and too much cilantro. To top it off, it was luke warm to cool.
The service, however, was by far the worse I’ve received. I’ve had a better welcoming at McDonald’s than I did yesterday (Sunday, May 2). Perhaps, it was because I was eating at 10 pm, and the restaurant closed at 12 am. I find that service and food degrades the closer they get to closing.
This time, I’ll blame it on short staffing and COVID. As for my waiter Phillip, please train him to be more attentive to the needs of the guests. Thanks in advance.
Food, ambiance and romance! The only compliant is that our server wasn’t as attentive but I’m not sure if that is a staffing issue due to covid
Both my son and my Birthday celebration but even though I wrote that down in the open table remarks as I made the reservation no one came to sing but they did for the table next to us oh well
Food was fantastc, music was loud yet enjoyable, great service and atmosphere
The food and service were great! We always love this place because the food is consistently good and we truly love the menu.
Fantastic as always. Their outdoor seating is also amazing!! Appreciate everything the NUC restaurants have done in these difficult times to still continue with their wonderful service and Cuisine while still observing the CDC guidelines!
Loved my waiter food is always phenomenal
Always a great time, cocktails are fantastic, desserts are superb.
This used to be our favorite restaurant, but post covid it is just not the same. Some menu items are gone, the taste of the food is not as good. Unfortunately, I won’t be going back.
Food was great. Felt comfortable in the dining room
Soooooo dark in there. We got seated at the darkest table in the restaurant literally could not see a thing. Our waiter was nice though, also thought they would do something special for birthdays but I guess not
Buddakan continues to be a beautiful and unique venue, however from my last visit a few years back the quality and taste of the food has changed.
Ordered the vegetables, they were cold, the pepper beef was hard, the lobster fried rice had no taste, on general, the food was less than ok
It was not the first time in that restaurant. This time (April 25th) it was disappointing - I have tried fried rice better in many local bodega Chinese restaurants, however never paid over 20 bucks for it. Don't order lobster fried rice - it is too dry. Drinks are watered down, so you purchase more. Service is slow, echo is horrible. We had a large group sitting by us and echo from their cheering was so strong, I could not hear myself. I would not recommend this place going forward to anyone as 250 bill was not worth it at the end.
First of all it was like sitting in a dungeon downstairs there was extremely noisy parties and echoes carried. The dumplings were good the Peking duck was subparAt best. You couldn’t even make pancakes the pancakes were a little bigger than a quarter size you could put one little morsel of ducking it I’ve never seen it ever like that that . The lo mein tasted like salt it was probably one of the worst Chinese dinners I’ve ever had for that price. I was extremely disappointed and so is my entire family. There is so many better Chinese restaurants in New York City this has just too much hype
One of my favorite restaurants ever. The food is great and the mochi donuts are phenomenal. I plan on going yet again in the future.
THE BEST RESTAURANT HANDS DOWN
We had a wonderful time last night at buddakan. Service was excellent. Covid-19 safety was top notch. We ate outside and it was comfortable and the heaters were perfect. The food came our piping hot and it was so delicious. Buddakan will always be one of my favorite NYC restaurants.
3rd time dining since Covid began - this time they seem to now remind you every time they come to your table how much time you have left before you “lose the table”. It was so obnoxious especially when the server would disappear for 15 minutes when you were ready to order. That’s not a stress I want to have when spending $300 for dinner.
Organized to eat here for a birthday and was not disappointed. I had been here before and Buddakan is consistently great. The hosts are kinda scary but they have to put up with a lot of bullsh*t from patrons so I don't blame them for being aloof. Our server was lovely and very friendly and the food and drinks came out super fast (as it was ready). Overall a really nice experience
One of my favorites to celebrate a special occasion with a group. Great service, delicious food and lively ambiance! Love that they can add extra pieces to appetizer portions so that everyone can have a try with having to order an entire appetizer. Desserts as cocktails are excellent as well!
We love the food at Buddakan in NY and always go there when we are in the city. I made my reservation way in advance, and I know that seating is limited with social distancing. Still, we ended up in the bar for dinner, right next to the DJ with very loud music. I should have complained and asked to be moved, but I was hungry and didn't want the hassle!
Always great. Still great. Bravo!
Love the vibe and atmosphere as always!
Service and food were great
Good place to celebrate an adult birthday! Yummy food and good vibes
Great group dining experience. Beautiful setting in the downstairs “library”. Tables spaced out during covid. Fun place to renter indoor dining.
Perfect restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Everything was delicious.
The food could’ve been better, needs more seasoning and flavor.
Amazing Asian fusion food. The menu is packed with flavor.
It was great food. Great friends
The food was delicious. The atoms was beautiful. Highly recommend the mochi doughnuts.
