combines the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th century Paris. The menu features fanciful interpretations of Chinese dishes and delights even the most discriminating palates.
we loved the restaurant but we had a 10 pm reservation and didn't sit down until 10:45. We were kind of annoyed with that but our waiter made up for it. The service and food was great!
Even better than usual (which is amazing), fabulous food, great service and surroundings. Will be going back x
Great experience! Went for a birthday and the share plates were great and they brought a cake out without asking.
Great ambience but the food is really mediocre. If you don’t mind the PFchang experience of Americanized Chinese food then this spot will be adequate. There’s nothing creative or authentic about the food. The service is just ok - feels a bit like a factory.
Adjectives can’t describe how AWESOME our experience was at Buddakan. From our greeting to bar service through our entire meal service everything, and everyone, was spot on. Our server did a phenomenal job recommending every part of the meal, with every dish perfectly prepared and presented. My colleague is a huge “foody” who raves about every aspect of our dinner. I can’t wait to go back!!
Sisters trip to new York
I have been going to Buddakan for 15 years and it never fails to exceed my expectations!
The food was delicious, yet still quite over priced. We shared a starter, had a main dish each, shared a side and shared a dessert and had a bottle of the cheapest wine. The bill was 250 dollars. I would only return for a very special occasion. The restaurant was dark and played fairly loud repetitive she music. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful.
Delicious food. Easy ordering for a large group. Very helpful wait staff. The space is gorgeous.
A little hard to find. : ) The door is not well-marked outside of Chelsea Markets.
Excellent food and service. Great to experience a place like this on a trip to NYC.
We were initially celebrating a birthday which turned out to be our engagement too.
We had an early reservation for 5.30pm, we were 10 minutes early and so waiting upstairs in the bar area.
We ordered a bottle of red wine and then the fire department made an announcement over the speakers as the building is linked to the Chelsea Markets. All good, we thought we were evacuating however the manager came over and advised it was nothing to worry about, great we thought however our initial server was more interested in chatting to her other colleagues.
Our wine came and she couldn’t open the screw top bottle, and when it was opened spilled it over the table whilst serving us in the wine glasses.
The fire department then made another announcement over the speakers that the ‘problem’ had been rectified and to remain indoors.
We then were left in the bar and had to be asked to be seated.
We were taken downstairs and thankfully were greeted by a friendly, attentive and on the ball server! (thank god) She made recommendations but wasn’t overbearing. We didn’t catch her name but she made the Buddakan experience perfect for our celebration. So thank you!
Food was exceptional, the service finally got to 100% when we got downstairs and so we would highly recommend.
Just need a few tweaks on the upstairs.
Wait time to get a table was one hour! Place too dark!
Still so much fun, food is very good and ambiance very lively. Excellent cocktails. A great option for a night out
Just Great, would come back whenever possible
One of the best meals I EVER had. Absolutely delicious. Fabulous variety.
We came for our wedding anniversary and this place did not disappoint! It is a beautiful atmosphere, food was delicious and the service was fabulous! Cannot go wrong with the dim sum and filet. For an added nice touch we got a sweet message in our desert telling us happy anniversary.
Less service than last week :-/
The food was exceptional. We had the pre fixed #2 menu that was perfect for our group of 8. It was a little loud and dark so hard to carry a conversation.
Very fun and good was great. Just felt rushed and the server assumed we were tourists but we are not.
The atmosphere was very cool. The food was amazing. Lots of gluten free options. The service was great and we would absolutely return!
Had low expectations, but our waiter was so friendly and attentive, gave great recs, the food was so so good (new favorite place for peking duck) the ambiance was fun but not so loud that we couldn’t have a conversation! Weve added this restaurant to our regular rotation.
We ordered a few dim sum dishes, and fried rice and congee. The dim sum was fine. But, the fried rice (very tiny pieces of meat and too salty) and congee (tastes more like instant rice porridge) were underwhelming.
Amazing all around !!
You chargé me twice and I still haven’t got the money back.
Really bad when You pay so much already and You have to pay double!!
But the food was good!
Yum! Great everything. VERY pricey though.
Loved the service and the food was outstanding. I would go back!
One of my favorite restaurants in New York. The tuna tartare rolls and rock shrimp are absolutely amazing
Service and food was phenomenal. Always a wonderful time.
When we go to New York city we always have dinner at Buddakan. It's a very good restaurant. This time and for the first time, we went there with our teenage daughters and they loved it too. The service was excellent, the food wonderfull (I specially recomend the black cod). Unfortunelly we did not had stomach for the desserts. Since we've been here 3 or 4 times before and know the place, our table this time was near the entry and it wasn't nice. The level of noise is what is expected for this kind of (very big) restaurant but it is the only thing that I disliked. The service was very good, as always! Probably because we are not americans (we are portuguese), we are not used to eat so much as it was recommended. We didn't follow the amount of food thar our waitress recommended but we still had a little more than we should...
Wonderful evening at a beautiful restaurant. Drinks were fun and interesting. We ordered a variety of appetizers, rock shrimp always a favorite, beef and scallion pancakes were very good. From the main dishes, we enjoyed Mala chicken, the beef dish was excellent, noodles were great too. Dessert, we ordered 2 chocolate desserts, also got the doughnuts, everything was great but the chocolate pistachio dessert was a highlight. All in all, a lovely evening, the staff was attentive and efficient.
The food was the best we had in New York, we shared 2 types of dumplings, crispy duck & ps cakes with a side of cauliflower. Everything was gorgeous
The food is simply amazing! It is a little bit on the pricier side but its totally worth it. Nice staff.
Great food, beautiful decor. Wonder drinks and wine list. Great place to share entrees. Best black cod!!
I had an amazing birthday dinner here on Saturday night. The music, staff, and food was amazing. Thank You Guys soooo much for making my evening even better
Buddakan is a "destination" New York restaurant; and it knows it.
$25 for a Gin and Tonic (because we chose a "premium" gin although were not told this) and a 30 minute wait for our table.
This was my 4th time and as always the food was amazing - just out of this world but the service let it down. Table service in the bar area was slow, not enough staff in there and then the table service was also not as sharp as it should be. The area we were sat (far right hand corner on the top level) was so hot...
Great fun and food! Love it!!!
