combines the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th century Paris. The menu features fanciful interpretations of Chinese dishes and delights even the most discriminating palates.
Great place for special occasions and just because you want a great meal
A modest entrance opens into a chasm of a sleek and vast - almost palatial - connected rooms of two floors. A welcome counter was staffed by 4 people, one of whom checked off my reservation and ushered us to the lounge to await a service person to guide us to our table. A few minutes later, we were seated and, since it was my friend’s first time there, someone came over to greet us and explain the family style menu, offering to answer any questions.
I venture to say that there is not one item on that menu that I wouldn’t want to try. I had my favorite appetizer Short Rib and Scallion Pancake, cut in 4 shareable pieces, as promised, Gai Lan (another veggie combo), and Chilli Chicken completed what turned out to be our first round. Finding ourselves trying to decide if we were wanting a little more savory or if we were ready for dessert, we ordered the Duck Salad and Carrot Cake. The duck salad was graced with crispy bits of duck, not exactly what I expected, but light and delicious nonetheless. I only took a sliver of the cake since sugar is not my friend but I can attest to the lightness and full flavor enough to appreciate my friend doing justice to the rest.
The drinks menu happily contained a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. My favorite is the Cucumber-Mint-Lemongrass slightly fizzy combo. My friend ordered a Japanese Gen Matcha off the separate tea menu. We also finished off the meal with more tea, each time served in a personal pot, perfectly brewed.
Service here, to a person, was professional, friendly, efficient and responsive without being intrusive. Our waiter was personable, patient, and easily found when needed.. From door security to coat checker to Maître D’, we were greeted with smiles and treated with respect. No one was “too busy” to help - and make no mistake, they were busy! We were there from 6:00-10.00pm, taking advantage of a true dining experience. Great date/friend & special occasion place. I’ll be back for sure.❤️
Amazing food and staff super friendly .love love love
This was my first time at Buddakan. We were in town for the NRF conference and wanted a restaurant with delicious food and ambiance. This place was perfect we had the best table we could of asked for and the food and drinks are to die for. The service is amazing and the restaurant is beautiful.
It was good
Cannot come to New York without having dinner here. My favorite restaurant!
Very nice food, best steak I have ever had, nice cocktails too
It was amazing I brought my boyfriend for his birthday and the staff was amazing
Never once had anything less than a stellar experience here - food is unreal, and the service is among the best in NYC.
The service was hit and miss, we ordered dishes with no pork specifically and received 2 with pork!
The timing was hap hazard.
The food quality was text book good.
This restaurant was an experience. You hang out at the bar/lounge for a couple minutes until your table is ready. The service was excellent, and the food even better. I highly recommend the oxtail dumplings for the appetizer, they melt in your mouth. You share the food with your table here, for example for two people we got 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and a side of noodles. It all came out to about $150 and worth every bite.
Excellent meal. Great service. A truly enjoyable evening.
It is an experience going to Buddakan! Tucked away at the corner of the Chelsea Market building, you feel like you are entering a nightclub with the dim lighting and lively music. The food is delicious and served like art on a platter. I especially recommend trying the tuna tartare rolls and prawn toast! The wait staff at the bar and dining area are gracious and helpful.
The check-in process when you enter the restaurant could be better - there are about 4 staff at the counter but only one individual on right checks you in. Once you're in, everything else flows seamlessly.
It was our 47th wedding anniversary and everything was just perfect. We arrived early and were seated early. Our server was most accommodating and informative. We had mentioned that we were too stuffed for dessert, but he brought delicious salted caramel gelato, which he told us was soy. Delicious! We will be back.
Really good at all levels, atmosphere, food service.
O loved the restaurant e the service !! This wonderful!!
Lively, energetic, diverse crowd. Food is a bit pricy, but delicious. The entree portions are definitely shareable. Service was excellent. A consistently great dining experience.
We celebrated our birthdays at this wonderful restaurant... was the perfect place to come and loved everything about it.
Great meal. In town for business and recommended by a local. Encourage you try the family style per person menu so you can try all kinds of different appetizers, main meals and dessert. Everything was delicious!
Great service! Appertizers better Tham entrees. A little bit too expendive and too load music..
Must in NY City! One of the best Asian fusions I’ve ever tried. Perfect food and service. Unforgettable experience!
We celebrated our daughter’s birthday in style. Our son was familiar with the place, so we took his recommendation. The space is very impressive, but a little loud for some of the more “senior” members of the dinner party. Everything else was near perfection. The server was very helpful, the presentation of “family style” starters and main dishes was well managed (i.e. we had time to enjoy each preparation, rather than having everything arrive at the same time). The cocktails were great, and arrived in a jiffy! I found the wine list well thought out, and fairly priced. But, best of all, the food is absolutely wonderful! It’s not cheap, to be sure-but well worth it for a special occasion! We’ll be back!
This was my third time here. It was so amazing the cauliflower lollipops are absurd i dont know how they are so good! The service was very attentive! I wasn’t sure of my waiters name unfortunately which is upsetting because I’d rather say “ excuse me _____” instead of saying excuse me sir. I feel it’s more respectful anyway the service was great and the food was better the music has like a deep house vibe which is fun but it’s not too loud where u can’t hear the person(s) sitting across from you. All in all a 5 star rating out of 5. I’ve been 3 times as previously stated and can’t wait for my fourth!
Exceso de ruido y de aire acondicionado
Amazing energy at this place, excellent menu, perfect for dating, or just having a great time! i never get tired of this place!
Awesome restaurant, you will not be disappointed!!!
Incredible food. The edamame dumplings are incredible. Love this place.
Amazing birthday celebration! Great food! Great Service!
A group of us from Toronto took a trip to New York for the weekend. This is by far one the best restaurant we have ever been to. The food was outstanding, our server was beyond fantastic. Everyone was super friendly and the service was by far the best we have ever received while being in New York. The ambiounce is great, a really cool spot for any occasion. Our server offered us a tasting menu where you get to try pretty much one thing off the menu and accommodate the amount of people we were with so each of us were able try what we ordered. We went with menu 4 and we were able to make substitution, it was a lot of food but well worth it. We will definitely be coming back and will be recommending buddakan to everyone!
Great food and service was great. Shanna was great. Very pleasant, genuine, patient, great smile, and very attentive to allergies, etc. thank you!
Food was delicious, service was amazing. Fun place!
I had one of the best waitresses ever. The hosts were very accommodating. The food was delicious and the ambiance was superb.
So amazing I had such a great time definitely recommend this place to everyone my favorite restaurant in the world the food was incredible so worth it I’m obsessed with Buddakan definitely going back again
The waitress was great at making recommendations and was considerate of my food allergy. She was so nice and the food was great and came out very fast.
Overpriced, overrated “hip” restaurant where you pay $17 for fried noodles to be among instagram people, listening to way too loud music.
Everything you pay for is the large and overdone ambience and “hip” way too loud music, where they should pay more attention making sure the food actually is worth the ridiculous prices.
Will not be returning.
Couldnt fault it.
Food was great and the restaurant is beautiful. Helpful servers and great atmosphere. I think the light over my seat was out so I couldn’t see my food though, it’s dark in the restaurant
We really enjoyed our meal, w/ the exception of the chicken. It tasted like soap. Everything else was absolutely delicious! The black cod was spectacular!!! The general taos dumplings were amazing! The atmosphere is really cool! We would absolutely go back again!
First thing that grabbed my attention is the ambiance of this low lit - ornate decor restaurant in the Chelsea / meat-packing district. I was searching for celebrities amongst the beautifully dressed patrons (as I heard they frequent this hotspot.). My husband & I had the Peking Duck for 2 and it was a great choice! Absolutely delicious and ohhhh so tender! The service is excellent and also- the lounge/bar area is a very cool design & drinks are made to perfection. Highly recommend 👍
Stupenda location ma cibo non buonoooo
