We brought family in town on vacation and everything was great! Service for our group on a Sunday night was very attentive. There is something on the menu for every taste, so it was perfect for a group.
Truly great food and excellent service! We will definitely be going back.
The food here was incredible. I had the lasagna, my friend had the scallops, and we shared the mashed potatoes with chives and the biscuits with salted honey butter. (She also ordered a very interesting and delightful cocktail, which I sampled.) We could not stop eating even after we were full, or talking about the food afterward. We had marked on our reservation that we were there for my friend's birthday, and after the meal, we were given a complimentary (tasty!) sorbet with a candle in it. We were also dying to try the confetti cake, but were just too full. (Next time!!)
Our waiter was wonderfully attentive and courteous, right down to bringing a full pitcher of water to keep our glasses full. The decor and atmosphere were lovely, and the prices were a bit high but SO worth it. I would recommend this place any day!
I have been in twice before and love the food, and my parents are relatively particular. They were floored by how amazing everything was: taste, original menu items, speed of service. Everyone. I have never been asked to bring them back to a restaurant (they like trying new things), and they said they want to come back the next time they visit the city.
It was recommended to me that I take my mom and mother in law to Bud and Marilyn's for their fantastic brunch menu. I am glad I took that recommendation. Two of us had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes, which were the right mix of sweet and fruity and didn't have an overpowering lemon taste. My mom had the Crunchy Almond French Toast, which she was super sweet but very good (for all you sweet over savory folks) and my wife had the Chilaquiles Verdes. The service was fantastic as well. Next time, we will definitely get some cocktails as well.
Fantastic meal! Thank you!
Service was great. Food and drinks were amazing! Loved the 1960s feel. Will definitely go back.
Great food and service
Interesting little hipster place with retro decor and top notch food.
Food was good, however the restaurant was too loud.
The lunch my partners and I had was quick and to the point. I especially love the many options they have for non alcoholic drinks.
Love Bud & Marilyn's especially for its lunch. They don't have the matzoh ball soup for dinner and it's my favorite in the city. It's a creative take on a classic. They also do great sandwiches.
David was excellent waiter
This place was amazing. Danny, our server was perfect. The noise level wasn't too nuts (we could talk), and the food was all amazingly flavorful. We got the cauliflower, the Nashville hot buns, and the seared scallops. All were fantastic, even if I couldn't understand half of the ingredients. Very fresh tasting, nothing overbearing, and all agreed with my fussy palate. And the food and cocktails came out quickly. Highly recommend.
Had a great window table. We were seated a few minutes before our reservation time. David, our server, was so friendly and attentive. It was a wonderful evening
Great way to start, continue, or end the night. I‘ve been here a few times and I‘m never upset, drinks options are wonderful as are the delicious dishes
Excellent service and food. Really enjoyed my meal!!
The flavors of our dinners were incredible! Just WoW! Wish we lived closer.
Service was great. They offer some really refreshing drinks for the summer. My scallops were cooked perfectly.
This place is just not that good.
We arrived at Bud & Marilyn’s on time yet we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table. I put on my reservation that it was my husband’s birthday, yet no one acknowledged that it was. Our waiter was okay at best; we hardly saw him. Overall, it was just okay. Pretty bummed that no one acknowledged my husband’s birthday, when I specifically put that that’s what we were celebrating.
We had a great table by the window, which was good for people watching. The Sunday brunch was great. The Apple French Toast was delicious and the Beet Salmon Board was fantastic. I recommend the grapefruit mimosa rather than the Bloody Mary. Great meal and a fun time.
We had an amazing dinner! My best friend and I came here for dinner and drinks Friday night and I was blown away! Everything was perfect, the drinks are unique and delicious! And the food! Goodness you have to see for yourself!
I definitely recommend the pork buns appetizer! I was blown away! And for drinks, Marylin’s cocktail was spot on! For dessert we had the confetti cake! Our mouths are still watering from it! We will so be coming back!
Took my mom and aunt here since it was on Philly’s top ten restaurants; it didn’t disappoint us at all! Great food, service, and atmosphere! Will definitely visit again.
Food was outstanding. Definitely have to get the Cheese Curd app. Delicious! I had the fried chicken, which was a huge platter with leg, thigh, breast of chicken; a couple buttermilk biscuits; and pickled zucchini. Other guests had the meatloaf (wonderful) and the hot buns (sliders) with pulled pork and hot chicken. The funfetti cake for dessert was a winner too.
Went on Thursday night dinner at 7pm. Place was packed when I arrived and noise level high. Happy hour was wrapping up! Got seated and order cocktails and hot pretzel roll for and app. Very good. Dinner we ordered the grilled "brick" chicken and a soft shell crab special. These appeared very soon...almost too fast! What was apparent to us was the decoration/seasoning; this meant that the chicken plate was covered with chopped parsley or other green, in addition to having some of the "sides" on top of the chicken pieces. This is great if well executed to create good visual for the food. This look more like covering the plate with green! The soft shell crabs had some of this but was not covered. However, the crabs we served on a bed of pearl barley and vegetables...along with a large amount of olive oil. It was a pool of oil under the barley. So eating the crispy fried crab soon became soggy and less appealing. Not sure what the goal is with presentation here. I will try the retaurant again, as the Pu Pu platter (appetizer) looks great along with some of the stuffed rolls. Just need to come later or at 5pm so I can miss the noise level. Cocktails are worth the visit.
Great meal, service and staff. I have been here before and love this place.
We had a really delicious meal at Bud and Marilyn's! The atmosphere is very welcoming. We had an 8:30 reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived. The server greeted us shortly after being seated and offered drinks. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Mai Tai Spritz. My cocktail, Les bons temps, was a bit heavy on the herbal liquor, but otherwise enjoyable. The food was the real winner. The hot buttered buns are every bit as good as advertised, and a nice size for two to share as an appetizer. The fried chicken entree I had was, without a doubt, the best fried chicken I've ever had. The outside was light and crispy, the inside hot, juicy and delicious. The biscuits that came with the chicken were good, especially when topped with their homemade hot sauce. My wife really liked the meatloaf. I of course sampled it, and it was delicious. The meal. As an whole was outstanding. The service was friendly and the price was reasonable for the quality and amount of food. We will absolutely be back.
Very disappointing. We have eaten here since it opened many times a year. I think Marcy and Val need to spend some time here and get it back on course .
Great as usual! Sara was also a friendly waitress who did a great job!
Despite the raves about the fried chicken, we thought it was over cooked and dried out.
Food combinations were interesting but some flavorings were a touch overpowering. Mint in sorbet as example.
Everything was wonderful as usual. The staff even combined two reservations for us.
Very pleasantly surprised at our visit. Very trendy look. service was excellent and fast service. Food was excellent!
Fried chicken sandwich on a buscut is AMAZING!! Seating is a little close together but over all it was a great experience.
First time there. For starters, we had the pretzel buns and perogies. Wow!!! They were great. Main course of hot buttered buns were awesome. My wife had the lasagna which was equally great. We Can't wait to go back.
The food was very satisfying. Marilyn's fried chicken was delicious and wasn't too greasy.
The food at Bud & Marilyn’s never disappoints. It has become our favorite place for lunch
Bud & Marilyn's has been a favorite of ours for the past few years. We've eaten here many times and never had a bad experience! The service is always on point, the atmosphere is great for a simple dinner or date night, and the food is consistently great! We love the cocktails and entrees (especially the fried chicken!) but the Cheese Curd appetizers and the biscuits here are what keep us always coming back for more!
Truly enjoy my visits to Bud and Marilyn’s before a show/concert. The fried chicken and accompanying biscuits are AWESOME!!! I am not a zucchini lover but enjoy the zucchini pickles. Can’t promise a quiet meal can promise a delicious meal.
