Buck's Fishing & Camping
Buck's is an terrific restaurant and would get far more attention if it were in a more easily accessible location in DC. For those of us in the neighborhood, it's a gem.
ALWAYS a great meal!!!!
The surroundings and the people who work there are terrific!
Great food, great, service, interesting decor, fun place
Nice variety of seasonal options. Delicious fresh fish selection and Impossible Burger. Good wine list with wide selection of pricing.
Friendly service and comfortable ambiance.
Wonderful ambiance, great food! It got pretty loud inside around communal table.
Terrific food but very loud.
Nothing special. Food ok; service better, but had to ask three times for water. Not great value.
Very good. Like feel of place. Definitely return
Absolutely terrific experience and food. Highly recommend Buck's. Scallops were perfect, as was the halibut my husband ordered. One of the best dinners out we've had in a long time!
Outdoor seating was just right for conversation. Halibut was moist and delicious. Fried oysters just like the beach in 1960. Service perfect.
Great neighborhood place and the best roasted chicken in DC!
We love Bucks! Neighborhood vibe and great food and drink
We are very lucky to have such a great neighborhood restaurant. Bucks never fails to impress with their amazing dishes!
This was our first visit and we enjoyed it and expect to make return visits. Onion rings were light (comparfed to other places that serve a heavily coated version). The halibut, fish and chips, and 1/2 chicken were all well-prepared and had great taste. While not a big desert eater, I coulo get the chocolate cake with Lewes whipped cream again.
Decorations were a surprise -- was expecting more of a tent/cabin feel. They had it decorated with cherry blossoms and lanterns. Nice.
Also, as they suggested, we got to their front door by going through Comet Ping Pong (which might be a pizza stop in the future.)
Food was very tasty. We waited 40 minutes after appetizers for dinner. We're told the kitchen was backed up. They made it right by comping a round of drinks for the table
We booked months ago for the quiet table in the back because it was a special event. When we arrived that request was not honored. The hostess said we had not used the right wording so someone else got it. No real apology, no nothing. We were out in the main dining area and it was very noisy.
Very disappointing they could not have bothered to let us know ahead of time.
We go to Buck's all the time and most everything is generally good. This time, the reliable burger was not as hot as usual, though my companion's fish and chips was outstanding as usual.
Food was very appealing and there was something for everyone's taste..fries, fresh halibut or carrot dip.
Service was good humored, attentive and helpful
Food was great as usual. However, we wanted a table further inside and there were several tables available but we were refused. Reasoning was others had requested those tables as a part of their reservation. We’ve been there several times and this is the first time we had heard of this. Also, the restaurant was very cold and we had to ask a couple of times to get the air turned down. As it turned out, we just remained cold.
Bucks is louder than i like. On the recommendation of the server i got the halibut. It was tasty, small and slightly overdone. My partners steak was sd odered. Fried onion rings fabulous. Their "famous" chocolate cake dessert was meh.
Went to Buck's when my parents visited. Great neighborhood spot. They know how to cook their fish!
Joined aFood and Friends event. Excellent food though limited but well curated menu. Same for wine and beer. Good choice for well crafted cocktails.
Very tasty food, very friendly service, and the outdoor seating is nice.
Took my mom there from out of town. She loved it! Also kudos to them for donating half of the night's proceeds to Food and Friends. Food was great. Waitress attentive without being overbearing. Food took a long time to come out, but was delicious. Definitely recommend.
Great neighborhood restaurant -- exceptional good and bar. Perfect for a drink at the bar, meet some of the neighbors, then top-notch dinner.
Buck’s is a great neighborhood staple with good food, good beer, friendly service. Reservations are a must. We made ours about 5 days in advance and were very pleased with our table which allowed for conversation amidst the happy din of the restaurant.
Just like Up North.
I'm not sure who was taking care of our table but he was absolutely phenomenal. So attentive, wonderful recommendations, and he shared so much information about this wonderful restaurant, it really enhanced the dining experience. The restaurant is so cozy and unique, I'd imagine they have trouble getting guests to leave! It's as if a florist and a cabin had a baby that opened a gallery in an old pool hall. And the foooood! The food was phenomenal! My group ordered the deviled ham spread, onion rings, mini corn dogs, fish and chips (the only item that wasn't a winner but still very good), muscles, burger, and scallops (the fennel gratin was amazing). Go and have a great time!
Father visit to DC
A great evening!
Outstanding in every respect. All four of us agreed that the service and food were as good as each can get! We shall return...
Love the ambiance in this place. Its like you have stepped into another world - filled with people enjoying great conversation and good food. The cocktails aren’t bad either.
Friends get together
Just love this place. Always consistent. Always delicious. Always charming. Always
Just ❤️ this neighborhood restaurant! Food, service, ambiance = perfection.
Everything on the menu is exceptionally good. It's a quaint neighbor location without the pretense. The atmosphere is perfect for a dinner with friends who love great conversation with an excellent glass of wine. This is an old world style menu that stays true to its origins. The wait staff is charming, helpful, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The only thing they are missing is good coffee and/or espresso. You will not be disappointed.
Decent place with great decorations. Our server was a little odd...seemed to downplay a lot of the dishes. Recommend the beet and mozzarella salad and the brined pork-chop.
Disappointing. The fish was over cooked and the flat iron steak tough. Not even the fries were good! Service anything but attentive.
Thanks Maggie. Also really enjoy the ambiance, decor, and the food is very good.
