Buckheads - Richmond Ratings and Reviews
After spending the day visiting the VMFA, my husband and I took my mother-in-law to dinner at Buckheads. The location may seem a bit off-putting, but don't let that discourage you from going inside. The food is exceptional; the service was wonderful; the prices are very reasonable. Buckheads has an old fashioned decor, kind of neighborhood clubby, woody, English - very comfortable. Would highly recommend Buckheads.
The Beef here is amazing. Soft as butter. Cooked to temp exactly. The salad dressings were not outstanding. The Bernaise was a little blah. The potatoes (potato cake and the potato du jour) both good. The grilled veggies were great. Lets face it...you come to Buckheads for Beef and it never disappoints.
Food and wine was excellent!
Attempted to order a bottle of wine, the first 4 choices was out of stock
Ordered Steak Au Poivre, waiter ordered filet and tried to get me to take it without the peppercorn crust- overall waited 50 minutes for our food.
The waiter brought us an appetizer however we were allergic to its incredients
The waiter brought us a dessert- app and dessert were comp’d.
While we appreciated the waiters attempt at rectifying the issue, no manager visited our table as one would have thought.
We also arrived 20 minutes early, purposely, with the intention of intending getting a drink. We were told they would get us when our table was ready. 45 minutes later we asked about our table with a response of, oh, we didn’t want to interrupt you, we didn’t think you were ready. I reminded them they said they would let US know when the table was ready.
I recommend Buckheads, just go on a night you have no other plans.
Always excellent service and wonderful steaks, my friends and I were well attended, never rushed and the wait staff was available at the rise of a hand. Our steaks were perfectly prepared and promptly brought to our table. I personally look forward to my next visit.
Tried Buckheads in our search to find the best steakhouse in Richmond. We think this meets the requirements. Generous quantity of high quality steak and sides. We did not have any dessert as we were too full from the meal. Tried the fillets and all were very high quality. We also received a great wine selection within our budget from our waiter. Overall a great steakhouse and we will return.
Not my first trip to buckheads. But, this visit wasn't as great...
This was meant to be a special family dinner to celebrate the holidays. I'd noted this on my opentable reservation.
Service wasn't as strong as one would have expected for the price. Took way to long to take our order. Forgot the appetizer we ordered. Just not terribly warm, welcoming and attentive.
Food is always great and continued to be so.
We arrived on-time for our 8:15 pm reservation and we’re seated promptly. The dining room was packed, and given that it’s nearing the holidays, the private room was full, too.
The night started out well, but after our soups and salad, the epic wait for our steaks began. We probably around our main courses a little after 8:30 pm and they did not arrive until almost 10 pm. I almost fell asleep waiting. One apology was made that the kitchen was busy, but the dinner crowd had been slowly thinning until we were the nearly the only ones left.
We didn’t even have the appetite for most of our food - sending back the large order of onion rings and still, no effort on the server’s part to make it up to us. After we ate, we couldn’t find our waiter for 20 minutes! He never came back to give us our check. I literally had to lap the entire place twice to find him - he was putting trash bags in the trash bins! While we were just waiting and waiting.
Other servers seemed more attentive but this was a first - and last - bad Buckheads experience for me.
This restaurant was excellent all around. Started with a couple of highballs at the bar(nice), then seated with really nice service. All servers were just great. She had the Steak Au Poivre and I had the Steak Fromage also with some sides. The servings were huge(we had to take some home) It was a bit pricey, but the whole experience was worth it. Thanks Buckheads, we will be back
Very nice spot for a birthday dinner with family. Food was excellent and our server was top notch. Food came out slowly, especially for the restaurant being relatively quiet compared to capacity, but was worth the wait. Very good value compared to larger/chain steakhouses. Definitely recommend.
I took my brother from out of town to dinner. The appetizers were awesome and bar was a great way to start the night. We had steak fromage and filet along with a very good bottle of Cabernet recommended by our server (great suggestion). At end of dinner my brother said he was speechless and best steak he has ever enjoyed!! He has been to Gibson’s and other steak houses in Chicago and preferred Buckheads without question! Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating our couple requests. We will be back in near future!
