The Bulkhead Diner is ALWAYS a good choice. Stylish casual with delicious food. Their meatloaf is still the best. Suggest priority seating reservation on weekends.
While our server was very hospitable, he was more charming than accurate. The drink orders were incorrect and the food was average. I enjoyed the ambience.
The Diner was great! The service, food, and ambiance was pleasing and wonderful.
Great food, the chili calamari is unbelievably good, worth the drive just for that. But the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass is to die for, one of the best seafood items around. However, the waiting staff left a lot to be desired. We were left without drink refills and had to ask another table's waiter to refill our drinks. The waitress had a zoned out look on her face most of the night. If you work at a restaurant and are customer facing you should have a little bit of a happy demeanor, not a WTH look on your face.
The priority seating worked seamlessly. There was perhaps a little bit of a surprise when using a gift card. The amount of the gift card was sufficient to cover the meal, tip and taxes but we were told by the server that the tip and taxes could not come from the gift card and we had to give a different form of payment for that. So the "Christmas gift" I received ended up costing ME over $25 to cover the tip and taxes... and now I have some money left on the gift card so I guess I will have to go back to use that AND pay again from my pocket. Just doesn't seem like a "gift" when I had to pay and now I certainly wouldn't give this restaurant's group's gift card as a gift to others since I would hate for them to think "how nice to have a great free meal" and end up having to pay out of their pocket.
Intimate setting for good food at reasonable prices
Great food and great service. Upscale diner vibe with good sized portions.
Food was good, making a reservation waste of time. I had to wait over an hour to be seated
Service and Food were great
Priority Seating: reservation for 6:45pm and we were seated at 8:05 pm .
The Buckhead Diner is always fantastic! Despite being a busy Saturday night, our waiter Harrison was very attentive. The food was wonderful (love the chips and Maytag blue cheese!) and we had a wonderful time!
Went at 6pm on a Saturday. Very crowded and loud. Food was ok, not great. Wouldn’t rush back.
On arrival we were told that the wait would be 10 to 15 minutes, but it turned out to be over an hour. Many people who arrived after us were seated before we were. Two inquiries to the host later we finally got a table. The server was friendly and reasonably attentive - no complaints there. The food was so-so: adequately prepared but often under-seasoned and no real finesse. The leasehold improvements are pretty.
I can not believe they are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Where did the time go? Food was excellent and quite the value as we had the Valentine’s Week special. Service was just okay. Could not figure out if one of the two gals taking our order was in training or not. They cleared silverware after appetizer and then dropped the entree without replacing our forks. Never came back to check on us so we had to catch other waiters for more water, etc. Despite this we will return again for the good food.
Best friends nite out
I have to say that I was very disappointed with the Buckhead Diner on this visit. I have taken family and friends visiting from the UK several times before and we have all enjoyed the experience on those occasions.
However, my husband and I booked (Priority Seating!) on Valentine's Day. I fully expected the Diner to be busy that night, obviously, but what we met with was unacceptable. I appreciate that tables come free when patrons have finished dining and the restaurant does not have total control of that - I wouldn't expect patrons to be asked to hurry up and leave! We ended up waiting a full hour before we were given our Priority Seating. I know several people tried to walk-in without reservations. Either some walk-in's remained and were 'slotted in' amongst those with reservations, or the diner simply, and knowingly, overbooked beyond their known capacity in the hope that at least most people would hang around.
To make things worse, people were still permitted to eat at the bar which prevented those hanging around waiting from getting to the bar to at least have a drink. This, however, may have been a blessing as the bar staff were very slow to serve and seemed to spend most of their time messing with the cash tills. Were they properly trained in their use?
We certainly won't be back in a hurry - a shame because the food is good and the staff friendly. Management need to review what is important.
