Great food, the chili calamari is unbelievably good, worth the drive just for that. But the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass is to die for, one of the best seafood items around. However, the waiting staff left a lot to be desired. We were left without drink refills and had to ask another table's waiter to refill our drinks. The waitress had a zoned out look on her face most of the night. If you work at a restaurant and are customer facing you should have a little bit of a happy demeanor, not a WTH look on your face.

The priority seating worked seamlessly. There was perhaps a little bit of a surprise when using a gift card. The amount of the gift card was sufficient to cover the meal, tip and taxes but we were told by the server that the tip and taxes could not come from the gift card and we had to give a different form of payment for that. So the "Christmas gift" I received ended up costing ME over $25 to cover the tip and taxes... and now I have some money left on the gift card so I guess I will have to go back to use that AND pay again from my pocket. Just doesn't seem like a "gift" when I had to pay and now I certainly wouldn't give this restaurant's group's gift card as a gift to others since I would hate for them to think "how nice to have a great free meal" and end up having to pay out of their pocket.

The Buckhead Diner is always fantastic! Despite being a busy Saturday night, our waiter Harrison was very attentive. The food was wonderful (love the chips and Maytag blue cheese!) and we had a wonderful time!

On arrival we were told that the wait would be 10 to 15 minutes, but it turned out to be over an hour. Many people who arrived after us were seated before we were. Two inquiries to the host later we finally got a table. The server was friendly and reasonably attentive - no complaints there. The food was so-so: adequately prepared but often under-seasoned and no real finesse. The leasehold improvements are pretty.

I can not believe they are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Where did the time go? Food was excellent and quite the value as we had the Valentine’s Week special. Service was just okay. Could not figure out if one of the two gals taking our order was in training or not. They cleared silverware after appetizer and then dropped the entree without replacing our forks. Never came back to check on us so we had to catch other waiters for more water, etc. Despite this we will return again for the good food.

I have to say that I was very disappointed with the Buckhead Diner on this visit. I have taken family and friends visiting from the UK several times before and we have all enjoyed the experience on those occasions.
However, my husband and I booked (Priority Seating!) on Valentine's Day. I fully expected the Diner to be busy that night, obviously, but what we met with was unacceptable. I appreciate that tables come free when patrons have finished dining and the restaurant does not have total control of that - I wouldn't expect patrons to be asked to hurry up and leave! We ended up waiting a full hour before we were given our Priority Seating. I know several people tried to walk-in without reservations. Either some walk-in's remained and were 'slotted in' amongst those with reservations, or the diner simply, and knowingly, overbooked beyond their known capacity in the hope that at least most people would hang around.
To make things worse, people were still permitted to eat at the bar which prevented those hanging around waiting from getting to the bar to at least have a drink. This, however, may have been a blessing as the bar staff were very slow to serve and seemed to spend most of their time messing with the cash tills. Were they properly trained in their use?
We certainly won't be back in a hurry - a shame because the food is good and the staff friendly. Management need to review what is important.

Well, let me tell you, Im taking the time to rate this because folk need to know. I'm not angry or anything because even though my husband did not want to go here for Val Day, I shunned and he gave in. We hadn't been there in a good 3 years, and stopped going because the food, other than sandwiches and ginger food had just gotten so bad...Really tasteless. But the setting was a look ways nice. Anyhow, we went ahead, hoping things would be really different on such a special night. NOT! We chose the 2 person special. I had meatloaf , potato mash and green beans with carrots. Husband had salmon, rice, etc. My first bite I knew it was a mistake. Meatloaf was a mixture of ground meats of sorts. They gave 3 hunks of what I imagine dog food to taste like. I'd never had tough meatloaf....Just so bad! No seasoning at all. Then a scoop of potatoes that I'm almost positive came from dried flaked...And an off brand at that. Stiff, no butter, no milk. Just bad. But I kept a smile because my husband wanted so badly for me to have a good night because of the sickness I've endured for the past year. Poor thing, had dried out salmon over crunchy rice. He usually likes to taste what I have and vi e versa... Neither of us would go near the others food. Who is cooking thus stuff? Talk about disappointed, that W ok old be the both of us. Finally after my 3rd tiny bite I pushed it back! The waiter offered a to-go box...It never occurred to me to take this pitiful food home. But again, to save face I Boxed up those hunk of neat, etc. And after all it was nearly &100.00 straight down the drain. My husband left every bit of the dried mess he had, right there on this plate. I only give any stars because the tiny saving grace was the awesome waiter we had, and we were seated a couple feat from the Dj, who played 2 of our fav songs and kept is laughing, showed pictures of himself with some celebrities from years past. But we just couldn't wait to get out of ther

It was Valentines Day and the wait was quite long but went to bar and it was nice vibe until our table were ready. Food was good but the calamari they used to make I can’t recall the type but it was not the Thai spiced that they have now. The waiter was super funny and service was great. Once we were seated and ordered it did not take long for food to arrive. Overall was a great evening.

Wonderful Valentine’s Day experience. Met at the door by young girls handing out roses. We did have to wait an hour past our reservation time, but weren’t all that surprised because of the holiday. The wait was made enjoyable by the DJ arranged music and the magician strolling through the waiting patrons and entertaining with really great tricks. The food was good and when our steak arrived cooked beyond our order, it was quickly removed and replaced with perfectly prepared steak. Very, very fun evening!

They did not properly prepare for the occasion. We along with at least 16 other couples with “priority seating” waited more than an hour past the agreed upon time. We eventually left without ever being seated and many other diners did as well.

Food and service were top notch. I'm glad we were able to be seated in a both rather than an open table. Noisy and busy on Valentines day however that would be expected. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommended.

We went for Valentine's Day. The staff seemed to handle the overflow crowd extremely well . The food was excellent. Standouts on the prix fixee menu were the calamari and the salmon. The atmosphere was "festive" more than it was "intimate," which may seem an odd choice for the occasion, but the whole experience was upbeat and fun. A DJ made conversation a little tricky, but the manager obligingly moved us to a table a little farther from the speakers.

We went to Buckhead Diner for dinner on Valentines Day. The first really nice touch was the gift of a long-stemmed rose to every lady that attended. Their menu and wine list was excellent. We had the fried chicken and the crab cakes, both were excellent, and there was enough for take-home which we enjoyed the next day. The energy level of the wait staff and guests was great. We are never disappointed at any of the Buckhead Life Group restaurants.

We went here for my birthday/Valentine's outing and we have been here before and really enjoyed it! This time around, it was obvious that they were not prepared for the large crowds. The food was prompt, but the dessert and glass of wine took forever, which was when the crowds starting pouring in.
We sat next to the kitchen, which we understand provides a louder setting, but we really didn't need to hear a waiter (not ours) talk about his date later than evening that he hoped would end with a 'happy ending'. On top of that, there was a terrible DJ that when he spoke on his microphone, you couldn't hear anything it was so loud - we had to stop talking! And it was every 15 minutes!!!!
For a Buckhead Life group restaurant and with how our past experiences have been, I was really disappointed with this visit. Hope they turn it around!

(PS - don't order the Creme Brulee - it is not a vanilla color creme filling. It looked more like cat puke with the sugar glaze on top. ACK!)

As good as my meal was a month ago that's how bad it was on Sunday. The salad was dismal, the major component missing and I was not informed. The dressing had no flavor just oil meaning it was not stirred before it was applied to the salad. The entree was served before we even got our salad. The waiter took away my bread plate and did not replace it with another. The vegetable plate was squeezed together on too small a plate. The presentation was lackluster to say the least. It was if there were a bunch of untrained kids in the kitchen just throwing things on plates. We were appalled! Will not be back.

We saw this online , so decided to give it a try.
Short story: totally underwhelmed.
Long story: We were seated quickly, and the decor and ambiance of the restaurant is nice ... however, it practically reeked of fried fish. My wife was turned off by this, but I thought we should give it a shot anyway. Shouldn't have. We got two different menus. Waitress seemed confused. We asked if they had the Blue Moon listed on her menu, but not mine. The waitress said she would check on that, took my menu away, then returned with the same menu, and had forgotten to check on the Blue Moon. She returned with news that they didn't. We ordered another option. She came back to tell us that they didn't have that either, and brought a taste the bar tender said was close. It tasted nothing like fruit loops. OK, how about the Kolsch that is listed here? Great. She came back a third time, poured the beer off and left, but there was something brown floating in the head of the beer. Again, she came back, brought another beer, and we ordered our food. My wife's sandwich arrived slathered with mustard—which was not listed on the menu as an ingredient, and is something my wife doesn't like—and the bottom of sandwich was very soggy. She was done. My "Rueben" was filled with really fatty pastrami, I mean ... REALLY fatty. Not great, but I was hungry, so I ate it. The manager came by to check on us, and we shared our complaints with him. He apologized, took away my wife's uneaten sandwich, and said he would take it off of the bill. A few minutes later we asked for the bill. It arrived with the sandwich still on the total. Again, we had to wait for the server, and she finally brought a correct bill. All in all, this place fell far short of expectations, especially with the prices they charge. You can't judge a book by its cover, as the old saying goes. We definitely will not return when visiting ATL in the future ... there are too many other options to waste time and money here.
