Buca Ratings and Reviews
Overall experience from being greeted to table very good
Waiter was not generally informative more gave a feeling of being obligated to answer questions as if too say you really dont understand that!
I asked for & received a non menu pasta dish which was excellent to which I went to kitchen area & personally acknowledged the chef for his preparation
I do not expect to be treated in a demeaning manner ....... I felt I was & therefore would not return there is choice!
This is the best dining experience i have had hands down in my entire life. Food was amazing and tasty! The chefs here know exactly what they are doing. Service was amazing too! Went with my wife for our anniversary and will continue to go every year! Thank you Buca team for the amazing dining experience!
We always have high expectations...never disappointed. On a cold February nite we fall into the warmth that is Buca. Our server Chelsea expertly guided us through the vast array of choices. I always try to find something that I might not get anywhere else. I had the pasta dish with lamb made with pasta hand made from Italy. Incredible!! My wife’s branzino was done to perfection. Why would we go anywhere else?
Always be the favourite Italian Restaurant in Toronto. There are picky guests come and go. Wish the restaurant can deal with them with better skills, because we want the service, but the waiter was stacked with the other picky customer for a very long time. When one of the waitresses separate the pasta I told her that was enough for me, but she still keeping giving me that is really hilarious:)
Buca does not disappoint. I too often have been let down when eating Italian in this city. Buca is Italian done right. Every dish was impeccable. Even the bread knots and warmed olives to nosh on as a start were memorable. We shared throughout the night and I highly recommend this method. We had the most incredible truffle cheese stuffed gnocchi, it literally melted in your mouth. We also enjoyed very tasty scallops and dandelion side as our main. What blew me away was the a very different take on Tiramisu dessert that I might just have to go back for. Added touch was a take away box of fresh pasta delivered by a very attentive manager who noticed it was a birthday dinner. Even without bday dinner, packaged amaretti cookies are sweet gesture. Top points for service throughout: our server was genuinely pleasant and checked in at all the right moments. The food runners were smiling and engaged too which stood out. The only thing I would share is that this is a very vibrant, loud space...So if you are looking for a quiet dining experience you should be aware. Food however is very much worth having to speak loudly over to your fellow diner(s) in my opinion.
Absolutely impressed by the food, we tried the
Gnocco Frito - surprisingly delightful
Bigoli - delicious as expected
Tagliatelle - packed with complimenting flavours
Tiramisú - INCREDIBLE, this was the perfect tiramisú in every way.
*Impeccable service, they were on top of everything and had very thorough descriptions of all items on the menu, including little tastes of Italy, like where you would likely find the dish, and how it might be served there.
I had my 30th birthday dinner with my boyfriend here. It was a great choice. The service was fantastic from the moment we entered the restaurant to when we left. The food was amazing!! We ordered the salumi platter, parmigiana melenzane, nodini, branzino cicoria. Our attentive waitress suggested a very rare pasta dish called "Su Filindeu" and we were so happy we got it. At the end of our dinner, I was given a gift of fresh pasta with cheese and olive oil which my boyfriend and I used the following day. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or for those who just enjoy great cuisine!
Our Waiter was awful food was pretty good but they wouldn’t honor a gift card from bar Buca when the person who sold it guaranteed it was good for all three locations. The waiter was very rude when declining the gift card and I quote “sorry I don’t make the rules not our problem” Now bar Buca will not refund the gift card even with a receipt so we are forced to go to bar Buca (or give $100 away) even though my wife and I both can’t find anything appetizing on the menu...If you go I hope you have a much more pleasant experience than we did!
This was probably the best meal i had, im Italian and have been to many Italian restaurants in Toronto this was by far the most distinct and authentic, you wont find this kind of cuisine anywhere else, it is a materpiece. I had the Cervello to start and spaghetti al nero di maiale, which i recommend for anyone who goes here!!
As usual Buca knocks it out of the park. Here for our anniversary this time - and each and every dish was wonderful, from the cheese selection to the tartara and nodini, the tagliatelle and the su filendeu, to the wonderful desserts and perfect wine reco. Thanks to Tamara and Emanuele and the whole team. Service was impeccable. We’ll remember this night fondly!
We went for my daughters birthday and had a great time. Seated quickly, then attentive service. The appetizers were excellent (my wife and daughter get an eggplant side for an appetizer). Then the mains, all were again great. The basic dish I ordered had a fine pasta but they still managed to deliver it al dente. One tip- the usual entrance is now off Portland while work is done next door on King street. Also, parked on Portland, so no problem with the silly driving restrictions
An absolute disaster. Arrived at 8:35 for an 8:30 reservation because we arrived at the listed address on King Street and there was no indication anywhere that the entrance was half a block up the side street. Told that our table was just being prepared and asked to wait at a stand up bar so that we could be hustled for drinks, and of course we were positioned 10 feet away from our already ready and waiting table. When my wife sat on here chair it was extremely wobbly and it took 3 waiter visits till we finally told them to just exchange it with another. Noise level was excruciating.
No question that the quality of ingredients is extremely high, and when we had prepared dishes they were well prepared. We had a good plate of salumi with a few cheeses added, then a $50 plate of a very good gnocchi with truffles, then waited another 40 minutes for the other pasta dish that we had ordered which was the disaster of the night. It was described on the menu as special pasta made in Sardegna in a lamb broth with lamb neck, cheese and a special olive oil. It was assembled in front of us and turned out to be basically an Italian Ramen soup bowl. They placed the large bowl of soup in the middle of the table, and gave us serving utensils and two plates! to eat it off of. Ridiculous and a $48 bowl of soup. Overly pretentious and they think they are lot mor about hip and hype that a great dining experience. We high tailed it straight out after that, foregoing coffee and dessert, 2 1/2 hours was more than we could stand
