This is not the first time we have dined at Buca. We sorely miss the superb quality and service it once offered up.
Sadly, over the years , it seems they have completely lost their mojo.
Everything was “just okay “ but “but for those rising prices attached to each dish, the experience should exceed “just okay”.
Every dish was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The pizza with fresh anchovies was the best I have ever eaten and the crust thin and crunchy. Osso Buco Milanese was divine.
Superb, as always! Our favourite in the city, hands down.
Best Tiramisu in town. Always lovely and seasonal experience. Solid choice for food
Came here from Niagara, had an amazing experience!
First time for dinner after several lunches over the years. The service was perfect, from being greeted at the door until leaving. Four of us shared and sampled salad, apps, pizza, pasta, all authentic and superb. Helpful sommelier, great wine selection. This is a well-oiled professional machine. Refreshingly... no attitude, unobtrusive service, well-balanced seasonal menu. Definitely will return.
Very creative and extremely well prepared Italian dishes. Fantastic Italian wine list! Received spot-on advice from sommelier for our 2nd bottle of Chianti, and was that wine ever good! Service is magically attentive and discreet at the same time. Noise level was a little high, but overall a memorable experience!
We love our Buca dining experiences as always, regardless of the location! The dishes far exceed any expectations you might have. The service is unparalleled, from the host, to the servers that bring our food. But on this particular night our waitress was mediocre at best. She would have fit right in at a Boston pizza, I could only assume. She wasn’t very knowledgeable(had zero recommendations for us) very rude, had and attitude, dishes were piled up, water glasses were empty, when we asked if we could order a pizza around 930 (close at 10) she made us feel like we were an inconvenience and made us feel guilty even though the kitchen was still making dishes for the countless other tables still in the restaurant. I don’t want to steer anyone away with this review but management needs to hear when a particular part of their team isn’t displaying proper server etiquette to their customers especially when they have set the bar so high on previous dining experiences we’ve had. You sure notice when things aren’t up to par. Buca is always our first choice, and without a doubt you will leave with a giant smile!!
First time there - for a retirement event. Food was great, front desk help was great- generally an enjoyable experience and I would go back.
Worth every penny. This place is an absolute treat to to visit. Not a single thing short of excellence.
The service was excellent and very warm.
Will definitely come back again.
We had a fantastic meal at Buca. If all they served was the salumi platter and sourdough bread, they'd be full every night! But they also served a delicious osso buco on Milanese risotto with unctuous, perfect bone marrow and a tiaramisu I couldn't stop eating. My wife had a good pasta but found it overly al dente and a bit of a miserly portion. Overall though, a lovely meal and we'll be back.
It was our second time dining at Buca. The food was delicious, the server and sommelier were helpful. We will be back!
Fantastic experience. We went for New Years Eve and had a great time. Deferred to the wait staff for food selections and each was better than the last. Great wine and service. Definitely coming back.
The hosts were warm and welcoming. We hung out by the bar for 5-10 min then got seated. The food was delicious but our waitress kinda ruined the experience. She lacked the basic etiquette of a waitress and was literally shoving the plates and table-wear in front of us. We waited for an hour and she never bothered to offer us a second drink and then she took my wife’s order and walked away without asking me if I even wanted water refill!!!
I looked at the other waiters/waitresses and they were all pleasant with a big smile despite the very busy night. I was so close to talk to the manager but did not want to ruin our night with more negative comments.
We’re not asking for much, just a pleasant service in an upscale restaurant.
My girlfriend and I went to the Yorkville location first before trying King West. Our server was very informative and told us the difference between each location. We didn’t realize there was a difference and so, we were happy to find out that there were different dishes inspired by central Italy at King West. She also described each menu item in detail and made sure the dish didn’t have any ingredients my girlfriend is allergic to. At Buca, you can never go wrong with their pizza. It’s the best in the city. And their salumi de buca and gnocchi fritto complement each other so well. Great appetizer and very filling. We will definitely be back again.
Excellent service and food, beautiful space.
we had a lovely time at buca. it is pricey and not great if you are a pescatarian but still a lovely evening.
The service was superb! I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a night out with delicious food, a lovely waitstaff, in a delightfully moody atmosphere.
Great food prepared beautifully and served with style. A little noisy and not inexpensive. One of my favorite restaurants in Toronto
Food was not well garnished and came out cold. Price did not accurately reflect quality of food.
Apart from having to wait for our reserved table and not being offered a drink or having our coats taken, we had a lovely family style lunch.
Top tier food, service and hospitality. Highly recommend it 10/10
Lovely ambiance! Completely amplified your mood to treat yourself, enjoy the moment and be wined & dined! Loved the service and delicious food. Food came fast!
I wanted to try Buca for a while. Loved it! Great food and great venue. I'll definitely go again :)
Always super super impressed whenever we eat at Buca. Amazing quality food, outstanding service and fantastic atmosphere always has us planning our next trip there. Can not recommend more highly.
Loved the goose filled pasta so much I ordered a second round!
Wonderful Italian meals and wine. Not your traditional italian meals, but absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend and absolutely would return!
It was a lunch. Our waitress did not give very attentive service for the price of the meal. The food was excellent but the vibe at lunch was not there. Very dark, dingy room. Needed more Christmas decor to make it cosy. We waited along time for wine to be ordered and served. The wine list has no price range at a lower level below $60. I would not recommend this place for a typical fun Italian lunch.
Always one of my favourite spots. We allowed our waiter to choose the dishes which went well with our bottle of Nebbiolo
Amazing pizza and pasta with truffles, great atmosphere
Great food and excellent service. Chef Jorge and Brent were so nice with us.
The service is amazing, and food has never disappointed.
I think this restaurant is way over priced for the wine list, food entries were way over priced, for example a small single side piece of Branzino was 42.00 no other sides included. Okay location is part of it but I would not recommend this to anyone.
We were so rushed it was like they wanted us to eat and leave under 30 minutes. At this price, it would be really nice to give us some time to enjoy our food. Waiters were literally waiting behind us to take away our food. 3 times, we had to tell 3 different waiters to leave the plates in front of us as we were not finished!! The whole dinner was super rushed and it was not pleasant AT ALL. Constantly having people hover around us to rush us is not what I was expecting about this 5 star restaurant.
However, the food was outstanding.
It's too bad the overall experience was so disapointing.
There is no denying that Buca has some of the best, and most authentic Italian food in the whole city (plus impeccable service), but the atmosphere would make me take pause in recommending it to anyone over 25 ;) It's a King West vibe: really (really!!) loud, with a lot of really young customers. It's just not very sophisticated or intimate as a result. Loads of people eating while looking on their phones, loads of people getting drunk on a bunch of cocktails. It reads too young, which seems really counter-intuitive to the quality of the food and service (and price - it's expensive). If I were to give the proprietor's of this particular location some advice: move. I would go back for the food in a heartbeat, but not for the environment.
Wonderful food & service in a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Excellent! repas aspect magnifique et délicieux!!! bravo
Hard to find because it’s in the basement down an unsigned alley off king street Incredibly loud it felt like a college pizza joint till we got the wine list You would think you could find a full bodied red for under $97 in a ten page book but not here Then the ridicules became the absurd when the food menu was presented So overpriced it made me angry This is pasta for God’s sake Had a bottle of sparkling water and a pizza (server was great) $50 with tip and then went down the street for a nice quite meal I don’t mind spending too dollar for a meal but this place brings zero value
