Italian
Buca Osteria & Enoteca brings Italy to Toronto’s dining hotbed on King Street. Executive Chef Rob Gentile has been internationally celebrated for his locally sourced, constantly changing menu. Guests are drawn to return time and again for the warm hospitality and artisanal fare, including famed house-cured meats, pizza, and pasta, inspired by the classic traditions of Italy with a contemporary culinary touch. An open curing room is on view, and beyond the Enoteca, a smaller wine bar, offers the perfect space for intimate gatherings. Tucked at the end of a private brick walkway, guests can choose to dine under the soaring ceilings of the restaurant’s industrial chic dining room. Consistently rated one of Canada’s best restaurants by critics since its opening, Buca is a modern classic built on the perfect balance of old world and new.

Excellent as always! Don’t skip the burrata pizza, it’s a must have! Every time we are in Toronto we visit here! Well done.

Great food, we went early to hope to get an earlier seating and they made us wait a bit even though there were empty tables.

Front door staff were friendly and courteous. When we were seated we were approached by multiple servers. No one introduced themselves and no one identified who would be our primary server. It then became obvious who our primary server was. Unfortunately she was more concerned with checking in with her friends at another table. We were clearly an afterthought. We were there celebrating a friend’s Milestone birthday which I had indicated on the reso. There was no effort to even acknowledge the birthday. I had previously been to Buca for a birthday which is why I had chosen to return. Unfortunately the service this time around was so disappointing and I’m not sure I’ll return or can suggest this restaurant is worth it. I got better service at the MOCA (at the cafe) and Terroni this past weekend.

First time to BUCA which came highly recommended. My date and I sat at the bar. Food, atmosphere, service and wine was all terrific. You also had Gluten free pasta option which was a deciding factor on making a reservation. BUCA should offer a gluten free pizza crust to expand the menu for people that can not eat gluten.

Mentioned it was for special occasion in the open table, but no question was asked. Thats the only complaint. Also, its super hard to find the restaurant as it is hidden in the alley. Other than that, we enjoyed the food and the service.

Food was exceptional and the wait staff very attentive. Only drawback is it’s very noisy and difficult to have a conversation unless you raise your voice and then run the risk of having your conversation overheard by your neighbours.

Excellent food. Varied menu. Excellent service. Perfect guidance on wine selection and pairing. Interesting location but seemed a little too loud for me personally.

Their pizza is out of this world. Order the pomodoro e tartufo. You will not be disappointed. Our server, Amrita, was top notch. We took her lead and let her choose our meals. Fantastic.

Buca has great ambiance, with warm flattering lighting that offsets the industrial look of the building. Drinks were a bit expensive, but certainly very good. We split the Parmigiana Di Melanzane to start and it was absolutely incredible, the perfect balance of flavours. The Proscuitto pizza was also delicious, with airy melt-in-your-mouth crust and a generous portion of Proscuitto. Service was spot-on, with the servers recognizing our needs before they were even vocalized, without being over-bearing. Perfect for a date night or a fun evening with friends. Will definitely return!

Superior food and service , not your ordinary Italian restaurant. I’ve gone with Italian friends and they say it’s very authentic.

The only real complaint was the print is so small and the restaurant so dark - I couldn't read the menu at all - which would have been nice. The waitress though explained things.

Their food and desserts used to be very very good. I was driving all the way from Newmakert to Downtown toronto only to go to Buca but I have been there last weekend and I realized their foods get so salty and their tiramisu uses to be awesome but this time their tiramisu was awful. I would not go back there any more.👎

We add some friends over for the weekend and we wanted to have a great Italien experience. We went before a d we loved our experience. Unfortunately this time the service was awful and we were feeling a lot of pressure to get out at the end of our diner. Rushing us to finish the second expensive bottle of wines we ordered because we were one of the last clients in the restaurant. I wasn’t impress by the food either. The overall vibe was good but our waitress was the worse and kind a give us a bad mood from the start...

I came here specifically on my trip into Toronto, one of my favourite restaurants. I asked the chef if he could make pasta carbonara for me as it wasnt on the menu for the day, he did and it was perfect. I love this restaurant and recommend it to every one. Appreciate the great service I received from all the waiters.

Buca has amazing food it was so good! However, I felt like our server was a bit weird.. I felt rushed and judged (she gave a vibe that we weren’t ordering enough food) at one point we were taking pictures and she was about to ask us how our food was and she had this annoyed look. Otherwise, everything else was ok.

Way too dark in there, tight seating, table behind us was way too loud, the gnocchi had zero flavour just an overpowering truffle taste and the service was at best adequate. For the ridiculous price you pay here for a simple pizza or pasta, the experience is so not worth it. Do yourself a favour and just go to gusto101 across the street.

Went there this past Sat night for a friend's birthday, it was a party of four. I made my reservation through open table, but I also called to let them know that we have a gift certificate for this restaurant. The minute we got there we let the host know that we have a gift card for this place and they said that no one has told them about it and they won't honor our gift card as their corporate head office hasn't notified them. This was the strangest thing I've ever heard in my life! The ambiance is business-casual which was nice. The only thing that I thought was slightly creepy about the environment was that there’s meat displayed as part of their showcase: mind you, I’m not a vegetarian but I still believe that animals should be respected and that their legs shouldn’t be displayed as part of a restaurant’s showcase. The waitress (can’t remember her name) was really nice however I was quite disappointed that they were out of burrata and on top of that the warm olives we ordered never arrived. We ordered quite a bit of dishes but my favourite was the fungi pizza and angel haired pasta. The prices are as expected for a high-end Italian restaurant. The portions are reasonable as well. I also liked that at the end of the night one of the hosts came by and gave the birthday girl a pasta dish for her to take home, that was very thoughtful and nice of them. Overall, the experience was decent, I’m just irritated that we didn’t get to use our $300 gift certificate and didn’t get to enjoy the food I’d normally enjoy at most Italian restaurants.

I have to say this was my first time at Buca and I will definitely be back. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it something special. From the moment we walked in they made us feel amazing. Not to mention, the service was unbelievable! We were given complimentary Prosecco and a pasta kit to go. What a special experience that we will never forget!

The meal was absolutely delicious as well! The pizza is fantastic.

11/10 rating from us.

This was my first time at Buca and it will not be the my last!

From the moment my wife and I walked in the staff was friendly and helpful. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended a meat and cheese board that blew us away.

I sheepishly mentioned it was my wife's birthday earlier in the evening. Lo and behold; they gave us a make your own fresh, pasta dish to take home as a gift (it was delicious too).

Do yourself a favour and go to Buca if you haven't already!

The wine list is really pricey, it would be nice to have a few options around $60. Better choices in TO for such a steep Bill for food and drinks.

This is not the first time we have dined at Buca. We sorely miss the superb quality and service it once offered up.
Sadly, over the years , it seems they have completely lost their mojo.
Everything was “just okay “ but “but for those rising prices attached to each dish, the experience should exceed “just okay”.
