Italian
Buca Osteria & Enoteca brings Italy to Toronto’s dining hotbed on King Street. Executive Chef Rob Gentile has been internationally celebrated for his locally sourced, constantly changing menu. Guests are drawn to return time and again for the warm hospitality and artisanal fare, including famed house-cured meats, pizza, and pasta, inspired by the classic traditions of Italy with a contemporary culinary touch. An open curing room is on view, and beyond the Enoteca, a smaller wine bar, offers the perfect space for intimate gatherings. Tucked at the end of a private brick walkway, guests can choose to dine under the soaring ceilings of the restaurant’s industrial chic dining room. Consistently rated one of Canada’s best restaurants by critics since its opening, Buca is a modern classic built on the perfect balance of old world and new.

One of our favorite places for Italian food in Toronto. Staff are super attentive and friendly, food and wine selection are exquisite. The experience reminded us of dining in Italy, highly recommend!

The food was fantastic. It’s a fine art of understanding to know how to take simple ingredients, merge them together yet have every ingredient pop with freshness in your mouth. Well done Buca!

World class fine dining experience in the heart of the city ~ personalized service and attention, and an absolutely divine meal with well paired wines for each course. With Buca ~ Toronto is on par with Paris, London and Milan.

They kindly seated us early when we’d reserved for later and the waitstaff was well informed but not at all insistent about what we order. The owner stopped by. The appetizers are wonderful especially cheeses and stuffed olives. I had great black cod and my husband loved the duck breast. Very attractive place, too. Really did remind us of the wonders of italy.

I've heard of Buca from some amazing people, so my expectations were very elevated. Not to say the food wasn't delicious, it was, but I was expecting to either be blown away by innovation, or be transported back to Italy. That being said, the food was prepared lovely, the presentation and portions were generous. The waitstaff forgot one of our orders, but more than made it up with their service and warmth. I would tell friends to go for great vibe and comfort food, and maybe have a talk with the friends who hyped this place up.

Service was poor, the server was rude and dismissive and we had to find him more often then him coming to check in. The most underrated part were the cocktails, they were awesome and being greeted by the bartender to take our order while we waited for our table was a nice touch.

The food was good, some of the hot apps (Olive Ascolane, Orecchio Si Maiale, Cervello) could have used some sort of sauce or acid because everything was all deep fried and salty so it needed something to set each apart from one and other, to help cut some of that deep fried saltyness flavour. We got some grilled bread with our food and it was extremely unpleasant because it just smelled and tasted of gas from the grill and had to ask for regular bread which was so much better.

The flat bread that came with the Porchetta Di Testa was great, however if you're going to advertise as a cold dish it needs to be cold tho, I found it was room temp to warm which made the meat sweat and left a mushy texture.

We ordered everything at the beginning of the meal and it took over an hour from appetizer to the entree coming out and one of our pastas was severely undercooked and crunchy. We found it interesting we did not have an option to add parmigiano, fresh cracked pepper or chilli flakes on top which seem customary at any italian restaurant serving pasta so that was odd. We had the bigoli and pigs blood pasta, the pigs blood pasta was cooked correct and was very good and enjoyed it alot. The bigoli was severely undercooked and had to be sent back but from the tasting we found it to be very heavy and overwhelming on the cinnamon or nutmeg.

Some of the best Italian you will find in Toronto. $400 for two people with 1 bottle of $95 wine and tip. Every dish was perfect, the service was attentive without being overbearing and very prompt. If you have the cash and appreciate some of the more authentic aspects of Italian cuisine -- including brains, offal, blood, horse meat, dandelions etc., definitely give it a go. Food is superior to local competitor Terroni, but also twice the price.

Every time we go to Toronto Buca is a must!!!!! The food is incredible and the Bellini’s are the closest thing to the original in Venice!!!!! The only thing I would have to complain about is that I reserved a table 2months agi and when we got to the restaurant we were seated at a bar table with bar stools that were less than comfortable.. a have back issues so à kindly asked the server if we could be seated at a table with chairs and he said that because we had just walked in restaurant without reservations that’s the only seating available. But I repeated that we had reserved ahead of time.... but he couldn’t change seating so we were very uncomfortable!!! But thst’s The only issue we had! Other than that everything was perfect!!!!!!!! To make it up to us the Maître D gave the dessert on the house which was very kind of her!!!!! We’ll be back

We arrived slightly early for our Open Tables Reservation but were seated immediately by the host! The Restaurant was not busy however our server was rather slow in taking our order. We ordered the Mussels Marinara and two glasses of wine. The wine and Mussels were enjoyable, however the meal proceeded downhill from there. The Eggplant Parmigiana for Three that we ordered appeared a little light for three people. It was served over cooked, the Eggplant was tough and stiff and the sauce was uninspiring. A second glass of wine was never brought to the table which we had ordered and then cancelled as our meal was long done!
When given the Tab for the meal we presented a $25 dollar gift card to our waitress. She returned shortly there after processing our transaction.
Upon exiting the restaurant and discussing the dinner we realized that the $25 dollar gift card had not been deducted from our Tab. We immediately returned to Bucca’s and brought this error to the attention of one of the staff. She was very nice and also asked our waitress to come to the front of the restaurant to speak with me. They apologized but said once the bill was closed out there was nothing they could do! I had to wait for a while so I could speak with the manager and he told me the same thing , that they couldn’t void the transaction and issue me a new bill with the $25 gift card taken off. I told them that’s why we had come that night to use the gift card before it expired at the end of the month! The manager said my only option was to give me another $25 gift card for another visit which I didn’t want as I will never go back there! It was my error for not catching the mistake but the waitress should have checked to make sure the gift card went through(she did say when she brought the gift card to the manager for approval, that he did swipe the card and that it should have gone through?) This is the second time at Bucca where this has happened!

The food was great. Something to dip the pigs ears in to cut the fat would have been a lovely addition. We were a little surprised that the seating was at long tables with others but ended up being ok as we had great guests on either side of us. The rhubarb sorbet is a must!!

The food was excellent and authentic.Nothing you would not get in a good restaurant in Italy. The waitress talked way too much and it actually made the meal unpleasant. It could have been funny but not last night.I am sure she considered herself efficient but she was self important and interrupted us continuously to announce she was pouring water or to begin a very long monologue about the food when we were in mid conversation.I am kicking myself now that I didn't politely say that we did not require an entire ingredient list plus cooking instructions with every dish put in front of us.Announcing water pouring was also unnecessary. The time for explanation is before we order. The decor was pleasing.Bathroom a little gross. It could have been a great evening but we felt regretful that we didn't shut down the waitress who was all efficiency and no warmth. If I go back which I might when I have $350.00 again for a dinner for two I will defiantly say at the beginning that if we have any questions about the ingredient lists or how the food is prepared we will be sure to ask but please, just relax, pour the water without a massive announcement and let us chat and enjoy the very pleasing food.I would rather go to an authentic Italian restaurant with authentic Italian waiters who know how to read a room.If your deaf and on an expense account it"s an awesome restaurant. Also if your a youthful foodie, with a snobbery about good simple Italian fare Go wild. The panne cotta was off the charts delicious. The wine which I forgot to ask how much it was ,by the glass was worth it as well.I am sure that helped with the final tally.I don't typically review restaurants but this was an evening that should have been really pleasant and ended up irritating.
