Buca Osteria & Enoteca brings Italy to Toronto’s dining hotbed on King Street. Executive Chef Rob Gentile has been internationally celebrated for his locally sourced, constantly changing menu. Guests are drawn to return time and again for the warm hospitality and artisanal fare, including famed house-cured meats, pizza, and pasta, inspired by the classic traditions of Italy with a contemporary culinary touch. An open curing room is on view, and beyond the Enoteca, a smaller wine bar, offers the perfect space for intimate gatherings. Tucked at the end of a private brick walkway, guests can choose to dine under the soaring ceilings of the restaurant’s industrial chic dining room. Consistently rated one of Canada’s best restaurants by critics since its opening, Buca is a modern classic built on the perfect balance of old world and new.

We arrived slightly early for our Open Tables Reservation but were seated immediately by the host! The Restaurant was not busy however our server was rather slow in taking our order. We ordered the Mussels Marinara and two glasses of wine. The wine and Mussels were enjoyable, however the meal proceeded downhill from there. The Eggplant Parmigiana for Three that we ordered appeared a little light for three people. It was served over cooked, the Eggplant was tough and stiff and the sauce was uninspiring. A second glass of wine was never brought to the table which we had ordered and then cancelled as our meal was long done!
When given the Tab for the meal we presented a $25 dollar gift card to our waitress. She returned shortly there after processing our transaction.
Upon exiting the restaurant and discussing the dinner we realized that the $25 dollar gift card had not been deducted from our Tab. We immediately returned to Bucca’s and brought this error to the attention of one of the staff. She was very nice and also asked our waitress to come to the front of the restaurant to speak with me. They apologized but said once the bill was closed out there was nothing they could do! I had to wait for a while so I could speak with the manager and he told me the same thing , that they couldn’t void the transaction and issue me a new bill with the $25 gift card taken off. I told them that’s why we had come that night to use the gift card before it expired at the end of the month! The manager said my only option was to give me another $25 gift card for another visit which I didn’t want as I will never go back there! It was my error for not catching the mistake but the waitress should have checked to make sure the gift card went through(she did say when she brought the gift card to the manager for approval, that he did swipe the card and that it should have gone through?) This is the second time at Bucca where this has happened!

The food was great. Something to dip the pigs ears in to cut the fat would have been a lovely addition. We were a little surprised that the seating was at long tables with others but ended up being ok as we had great guests on either side of us. The rhubarb sorbet is a must!!

The food was excellent and authentic.Nothing you would not get in a good restaurant in Italy. The waitress talked way too much and it actually made the meal unpleasant. It could have been funny but not last night.I am sure she considered herself efficient but she was self important and interrupted us continuously to announce she was pouring water or to begin a very long monologue about the food when we were in mid conversation.I am kicking myself now that I didn't politely say that we did not require an entire ingredient list plus cooking instructions with every dish put in front of us.Announcing water pouring was also unnecessary. The time for explanation is before we order. The decor was pleasing.Bathroom a little gross. It could have been a great evening but we felt regretful that we didn't shut down the waitress who was all efficiency and no warmth. If I go back which I might when I have $350.00 again for a dinner for two I will defiantly say at the beginning that if we have any questions about the ingredient lists or how the food is prepared we will be sure to ask but please, just relax, pour the water without a massive announcement and let us chat and enjoy the very pleasing food.I would rather go to an authentic Italian restaurant with authentic Italian waiters who know how to read a room.If your deaf and on an expense account it"s an awesome restaurant. Also if your a youthful foodie, with a snobbery about good simple Italian fare Go wild. The panne cotta was off the charts delicious. The wine which I forgot to ask how much it was ,by the glass was worth it as well.I am sure that helped with the final tally.I don't typically review restaurants but this was an evening that should have been really pleasant and ended up irritating.

The service was very good. The food was just average. I do however want to comment on the policy of charging $15 per 750ml bottle of both flat and sparkling water!
We had 4 cocktails and 2 bottles of water and it was $100. I find

I'm not sure if it was the manager that was beside the hostess when we came it but he was rude and dismissive. You could see well after we were seated that he kept pointing over to our table and saying stuff to the staff. Our waiter himself was pleasant and gave some good suggestions on what to order and how much to order for our group. Everyone enjoyed their meals but I can't say we'd be back.

We had heard so many good things about Buca which made our disappointment so profound. We tried the radicchio salad, guancia beef cheeks, Marche macheroni pasta and tiramisu dessert. Of these the pasta and dessert were particularly weak. The red sauce pasta lacked any discernible flavour. As an Italian one must produce a perfect tomato sauce that has evidence of fresh tomato, and subtle spice (basil, garlic at a minimum). It was, however, bland and without any texture. Hand made noodles were perfect. The tiramisu suffered from an attempt to be different. Removing any lady finger biscuits, or reducing them to mush did not help this dessert. It was both mushy and overly sweet with carmelized sugar lenses throughout.
The ambiance was not comfortable for us as the noise levels on a late Saturday evening, were off the charts loud. This is where our age (over 60) perhaps made this particularly foreign to us. The 2 story boiler room had the ambiance of a ... boiler room, too voluminous lacking intimacy. Finally the table for 2 was uncomfortably small as were the chairs that were only conmfortable for 20 minutes, not 2 hours.
Unfortunatley this special birthday evening was not positive for us.
On a positive note, staff were very attentive and helpful.

We had a wonderful time. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. The experience was enhanced by the stellar server who shared her expert knowledge of food and wine pairings to help us choose items from the menu thoughtfully. She spent enough time with us to get us excited about the menu selections, choose foods wisely and pair with appropriate wines. She also had the sensitivity to subtly take her leave and never overstay her welcome at our table. The foods were brought to us with perfect timing and just the right amount of ceremony. That was the best dining experience I have had in years. In fact, it was one of the best in my life.

I made a reservation at Buca for my boyfriend's birthday and had the most enjoyable time. Not only were we absolutely spoiled in the service, we really appreciate the little gestures and details Buca puts in providing the most memorable experience.

We had a charcuterie board and some sourdough to start, carefully explained to us by our attentive server, followed by the fungi pizza, which was decadent and delicious. We wrapped up the meal with a pasta and dessert – both incredible. What really stood out was the service – having our dishes and cutlery cleared between every course, careful explanations of each meal, wonderfully detail oriented servers, everything was perfect.

The cherry on top was the fresh pasta they sent us home with, to thank us for spending a special occasion at the restaurant. It was such a thoughtful, considerate touch that I've never experienced anywhere else. I highly recommend splurging once in a while to celebrate with the folks at Buca, they'll make it unforgettable.

Went to a Buca as a party of 6 for my girlfriend’s birthday. I’d heard great things so I thought we’d give it a try.
Ambiance is good. Great decor, incredible lighting and good music / background noise.
Service was sub par. Our waiter was short and dismissive with us all night.
The food was decent but the portions were terribly small and the quality didn’t make up for the tiny portions.
When it came time for the bill, they couldn’t split it - despite my request earlier in the night. This is a huge pet peave of mine and it made the payment process a big mess and ultimately left a bitter taste in our mouth.
At the end of the night, the manager came over and gifted my girlfriend with a take home pasta meal for two. It came in a cute, well decorated box. A super nice gesture and unique when compared to our other restaurant birthday experiences.
Overall, Buca leaves a lot to be desired. For a ~$100 per head dinner (with wine, apps, main and desert), the value just isn’t there.

Hi I was very disappointed in our first experience. We ordered a 55$ pasta dish the waitress recommended, it had the consistency of pea soup with an OVER powering truffle flavour? Our bill came to 240$ for 2 coctails each and meats and cheese. App was fine, over priced though. Our main actually made me feel sick the whole night. Did we get the wrong thing? We have no problem spending good money on a night out. We love gusto, Lee, cibo and many restaurants around the area but we did not enjoy that pasta we shared. Did we order the wrong thing? The experience was good just disappointed with the food.
Thx
