Service was not friendly. Felt like the waitress was annoyed and not friendly.
The service is impeccable! The food was fantastic - very creative dishes using local ingredients executed with perfection. It is a treat!
Excellent evening and great service and the food was delicious. A bit pricey for what you get but tasted great. We were surprised with a small gift wrapped box with all of the ingredients for a pasta for two as a small acknowledgement of our anniversary. Very nice touch and presented by one of the sous chefs. A great experience!!
My wife and I went there for our wedding anniversary and we enjoy this restaurant. The meal was very good specially entrance (permigiana de Melanzane) and dessert (tiramisu). My wife have pasta with sea food and they were amazing, and I have pasta bigoli (not so good), I expect something better!
I will recommend this restaurant
We had the best customer service experience. Didn’t like my first dish because it was too oily. They changed it, and I didn’t have to pay for it. Our waitress was super amazing and we got a little care package after dinner. Keep up the good work guys.
The service was next level great. I wish I can recall the gentlemen’s name that served my husband and I but he answered the 101 questions I had in regards to the menu. The food..OMG I was honestly speechless how good the pasta was. Overall my experience couldn’t have gone better. It was for my birthday and they definitely did their part in making it great.
Great food. Way too much noise as no soft furnishings to whiten Down the noise from people and kitchens
Amazing human gastronomic experience!
Loved this restaurant. There were three of us for dinner. I ordered the seared scallops on a bed or puréed corn with fresh English peas. Truly one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever had and I am well travelled and a total foodie. My stepdaughter had the tomato leaf tagliatelle with mushrooms, garlic and oil. It too was perfection. Her husband ordered the pizza, which is not the typical round version but rather a foot long and 7 inches wide. It’s served with a pair of scissors. It was wonderful. Great crust. We started with two different salamis and cheeses. They were served with a sweet condiment fir the gorgonzola and pickled mushrooms for the salami. We also ordered a loaf of their bread which was served from the oven and was delicious. I had asked for a recommendation-of a crisp, dry white wine but the bottle she recommended was too sweet for me. Without any fuss, she asked me to choose a different wine, which I did. Service was excellent and our waitress was great. Buca is the best Italian restaurant in Toronto as far as I’m concerned. Really wonderful meal. Bravo!
My wife and I have been here twice now. Both times we were blown away from the flavours, the service and the overall experience. 100% would recommend going to Buca.
I really don’t like leaving negative reviews. Especially for a place that is generally spectacular such as Buca.
I’ve been here a hundred times and was always blown away by the food and the service.
This time, things were not nearly as good as they should have been. I’ll save the trouble with the meal for another review but needless to say we ordered a lot of food off the menu and had some left over.
Here’s some advice to the management that should go without saying. When you put two completely different dishes in a single take out container, which is too large for either dish, they will mix and result in a completely inedible mess.
I spent $32 on some Salumi and nearly $30 on a pizza, so the least you could do is put them in separate containers.
I got my food tossed in a box with zero regard for what would happen to it. There’s also a piece of cardboard on the pizza! It’s careless, disrespectful to the food and to the customer.
My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to our first Buca experience, since we've gone to Bar Buca and love everything about it. It was his birthday and we wanted to go somewhere special and different. Sadly, from the moment we were seated, it was a disappointment. They sat us in a table for two that was squeezed into a room where two large parties of diners were located. We requested to be moved to the other room, which they quickly did. The larger room had several available tables for two, which made us feel like second rate guests because they tried to put us in the smaller room initially.
The menu was fantastically eclectic , with many intriguing options. We ordered a few appetizers (zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta, the eggplant Parmesan made with buratta, and the lamb's brian wrapped in prosciutto). They were all delicious. However, the waitress kept trying to get us to order more food, when all we wanted to do was have a leisurely meal. It was annoying. She also had zero suggestions of what they could add to proseco to make it a bit sweeter (they were out of Elderflower liquer, but what about some cassis, or peach schanpps?)
As a main, we ordered the special of the night, which was ricotta gnocchi with sea urchin and lemon. It was so salty that we couldn't finish it.
For dessert we had the pigs blood chocolate torte. It was delicious, but tasted like any other delicious chocolate tortes we've had. I feel like the pigs blood addition was more "kitchy" that for any kind of effect. Not that I want my chocolate to taste like pigs blood, but why use an ingredient if that doesn't have an effect?
The restaurant comped us the dessert to make up for the fact that we didn't like the gnocchi and that was a classy thing to do.
Overall, it was a good one-time experience because the food is so interesting, but I don't think I will go again. For a meal that cost over $200, it didn't feel like I got $200 worth of value from the experience.
Outstanding service and quality of food. We spent our anniversary there and they even sent us home with some special gifts.
Excellent service: extremely friendly and yet neither obsequious nor obtrusive. Best Italian food I've ever had in Toronto
Food and service was great, tiramisu one of the best I ever had. However the chairs with the wooden backs were very uncomfortable, in fact the diner next to made them change her chair.
A special thank to the sommelier who was just Wow!
Wonderful surprise while on vacation in Toronto. Wish we had a place like this back home in San Diego.
We had an amazing dinner Saturday night at Buca. Our waiter (whose name I can’t remember) was outstanding. We were a group of four and he just did a tasting of all the deliciousness Buca offers. Can not say enough about our evening. Everything was great. Loved the pizza with fig. The zucchini blossoms were delicious as was the Salumi sampling. His wine selections were perfect and the flavored grappa was a wonderful way to end our night.
amazying fresh food
somewhat overpriced for what you get
pretty good. used to be awesome. once you start seeing other incarnations pop up all over town you know they went from awesome to pretty good already. killer pizza crust tho.
The food was fantastic! My husband went for our anniversary dinner prior to Come From Away at the Royal Alex. Our server Tamara was so lovely... very knowledgeable about the the wines and the food. Loved all of her recommendations!
Delicious food, very attentive service! Everything was awesome!
Excellent food and subpar service. I don’t know if the server had a bad day or he was just not as excited about his job
Staff made an extra effort to make our special occasion a surprise...thanks again!
I had dinner with several colleagues and after spending several hundred dollars we were asked to move as they had our table for someone else. I was mortified...but I moved. Worst part of this is that after being moved to the bar to stand no one used our tables for almost 45 minutes even after we left. I will not be back and they need to review their customer service.
Unbelievable service and food was exquisite. Ambient was industrial modern which is very nice.
First time at Buca, really enjoyed our meal, excellent service. . Ordered a white pizza with artichokes as an appetizer, amaIng flavor . Our pasta dinners were excellent... obviously home made.
Would definitely go back.
I've never been impressed with Buca and have always found the food very mediocre. It doesn't deliver on expectations of a restaurant in that price range. We decided to give the King Street location a try and were even more disappointed. That will be the last time I set foot in one of their restaurants.
Service very mediocre. Food actually disgusting and despite me literally eating one bite of my fish, the waiter never checked to see how things were and then took my full plate away with no questions asked. I typically don't bother to complain during meals so we just got the bill and left. I will choose to vote with my wallet.
The best pasta I have ever had! Delicious food and a great atmosphere. Huge selection of wines and the wait staff was amazing. Could not have asked for snything more!
Unique menu. Hard to figure out what to order. Not enough leafy salads.
Had made reservations months in advance but upon arrival given a poor choice of tables. Had to ask for a better table then waited 10 min to be seated. No one ever was shown to that original table, so why were we offered that at 8 pm when the place was empty. Poor hosting. Not well managed. Too many people without leadership.
Had an amazing experience here. Everything looked and tasted to be of the highest quality. Will be returning again soon!
BUCA. ONE OF THE BEST. MENU WAS PHENOMENAL, SERVICE STAFF ARE AMAZING! A++ WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Caprese salad was disappointing - the cheese was so small and flat . It should look like this https://whatscookingamerica.net/Salad/InsalataCaprese.htm
Always exceptional! Best Italian food in the city!
Food was excellent. My daughter and I ordered the sea bass and a pasta dish and shared it. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the pasta dish sensational. The tiramisu was rich and a large portion.
It was very noisy so could hardly hear my daughter across the table - had to speak very loudly.
They were out of most wines under $100/bottle. Went with the wine by glass - it was okay.
Meal was expensive but definitely would recommend this place.
Went after work with a few co-workers and was very impressed with the service and ability to accommodate specific requests. Not to mention the food was amazing!
Was ok, but not really impressed in any way. Food was flavourless, tables were too close and service was impersonal
Buca is a unique and well thought out space, with an ever changing menu full of incredible dishes. Their house made salumi is phenomenal and their main courses are equally worthy of praise. Their extensive wine list, delicious menu and incredible ambiance were only overshadowed by the thoughtful, attentive and friendly service; Teddy was truly one of the highlights of our evening.
Great atmosphere and sophisticated food. The wait staff is knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. A very positive and delicious experience!
I haven't been to Buca on King in years but it is exactly how I remember it to be...Awesome!
