We loved Rachel. She’s the best
The only thing better than the service was the food. Highly recommended.
All around amazing. I went in with high expectations and had them exceeded
Excellent service and knowledgeable waitstaff. Food presentation was excellent, but not great value for price. There's a wide price difference between dishes so if you don't want to spend more than say $25-30 on a main, you'll only have a couple choices.
Wonderful place. Food was excellent and service as well. Decor and detail of the bar was just outstanding. Fast and efficient service.
Upon removing 3 stacked glasses from on top of our tap bottle the bottom glass shattered all over my sister. It was clearly an accident. There was glass in her saddals and chards cut her only slightly around her neck. We were surprised that her vodka gimlet wasn't comped..
The food was excellent and the service was second to none. Drinks were also fantastic. Obviously not cheap but very much worth it.
It was my husband’s birthday and Buca didn’t disappoint. Our meal was great from start to finish and the service was amazing. We will definitely be returning.
The service was excellent and did so much to make us feel comfortable. We enjoyed the food and the recommendations that our server (i so forgot his name, but so nice!) to pair with the wine was spot on. And the manager Claudio came and checked on us and gave us a nice take away box of fresh pasta and ingredients to make a dish. Such a nice evening to share with my husband on our anniversary. Thank you to all that made the night to fabulous!
I was looking forward to go. But what a deception ! Very nice place and very good service. But the red wine was warm , the appetizer ( meat and cheese platter ) very deceiving and was not worth the expensive price for so little food on the plate . The Bigoli was ok but the pizza was to salty and couldn t even finish it because of that awful taste . Sad because the location is perfect. So many good resraurant in Toronto. Don t waste your time or money there .
Lovely meal, amazing service!
Incredible. Always. Rachel served us and she is amazing and so knowledgeable.
My wife had always wanted to give Buca a try - so off we went for her birthday. We got an early reservation since we needed to get out in time for a 7:30 show.
The waitress was fantastic. She was able to recommend dishes and helped us round out our meal. Our sparkling water glass never went empty. She also recommended a very delicious wine for me wife - which I ended up ordering as well.
The food was perfect. We started with a trio of cold cuts and caprese salad - followed by a stuffed ravioli, whole sea bass and dandelion greens. The flavours played off each of the dishes beautifully.
My wife ended the meal with a dessert but I can't remember the name. Delicious delicious delicious.
Thank you for a great start to our evening!
Overall this place was ok. Nothing special. Service was excellent though. Pretty dining room but they forgot to turn on the music! So it was a bit bland atmosphere.
Went there the other evening to celebrate a birthday. Staff is wonderful and service is great. Cold cut platter was mediocre and horribly overpriced . Entree's were good , but again priced way over the top. You can eat just as well if not better at half the cost at other nearby Italian restaurants.
Not impressed, will not be going back!
For starters, we ordered the bread knots. Unfortunately they were hard, you couldn’t pierce them with a fork so you had to eat these oily things with your hands. Too much rosemary and not enough garlic.
We also ordered the gnoccho fritto. They were good. You’re supposed to put the slice of pancetta inside of the dumpling, but we were given 4 dumplings and only 3 slices of pancetta.
Now my biggest pet peeve. They took away our plates while I was eating and took away our bowl of olives. If I’m paying $9 for olives I want to finish my olives! No one asked if we were done, just out of nowhere plates and cutlery gone. But they left us our 2 uneaten bread knots. So I was utterly confused. We couldn’t even eat the remaining bread knots because these things will drip olive oil and we had no plates! Our mains didn’t come out for another 20 minutes (I don’t mind waiting) I just don’t know why they were so in a rush to clear our plates. Service 101 always ask if the customer is done, especially if there is still food in the plate!
For the main, my wife had the funghi pizza. Crust was dry. I had the seafood polenta pasta. It was really good but every now and then I would bite into some star anise? and get a mouthful of licorice which was offputting.
Oh and I forgot to mention that no one ever asked if I wanted a second glass of wine so I ended up just not having any for my main course. But for some odd reason, I was asked over and over if I would want my water refilled. This may not seem like a big deal, but when trying to have a pleasant conversation and to be interrupted every single time my water glass needed to be refilled got annoying after a while.
And in case you’re wondering, this is not a place that serves bread and butter. No fresh ground pepper. No chilli flakes or chilli oil to go with the pizza. And no dinner menu specials.
We opted to skip dessert. This place doesn’t deserve our money.
Prices were way too high for the portion size given. Not impressed with that aspect of the restaurant
The food was really good, the service was excellent. Overall good experience.
We were seated right away. Very friendly staff. Burrata pizza was amazing but pricey. Staff went out of their way to celebrate the birthdays of two in our group. They even sent us home with a meal kit of fresh pasta. Tiramisu was decadent. Great evening.
Decided to visit Buca to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and what a great choice. The atmosphere was casual, the service terrific and the food absolutely delicious. It was our first time here and we didn't know what to expect from the menu. Let's just say the Burrato Tartufo pizza and the gelati and sorbetti is to die for. The restaurant knew we were celebrating an occassion and went out of their to make it special, even giving us fresh pasta and all the ingredients (and instructions) to make their famous spaghetti.
Excellent food! Not a bite of anything subpar from start to dessert. Definitely on the repeat list!
Simple ingredients done well. Very tasty. Visiting from Australia and would recommend to any visitor.
We arrived with my wife experiencing severe eye pain due to a dust storm. The staff were amazing in helping us. Claudio and Stephanie went way above and beyond in helping with eye ointment and flushing water from an eye wash station at another restaurant that Stephanie escorted us to. To say we were unbelievably thankful would be an understatement. Thanks again to Stephanie, Claudio, Sarah, Chelsea and Robert and to the leaders at Buca who have created an environment and culture that allow for this type of staff behaviour. Mike & Carol Clarke. My BF and I shared the ‘PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE’ ($16) it was mouth watering and I LOVED it, he thought it ‘was good but didn’t blow his mind’ I would recommend trying it but it’s not a huge portion so, perfect for two.
I originally went thinking I would try the ‘gnocchi’ as it came highly recommended but, our server mentioned that the menu had just changed so it would most likely be a different one and suggested I go for something ‘different.’ I agreed so I went with what she described as a house favourite.
I ended up with the ‘BIGOLI’ ($24) it was on the heavier side and decadent (cream based), I liked it but wouldn’t order again, it just didn’t personally wow me, especially in contrast to his entree which was the ‘CRESC’TAJAT’ ($28) we both preferred. The pasta had octopus, mussels and a tomato base - phenomenal!! I had plate envy the entire time.
AInstead of your typical dessert that restaurants usually give you for your Birthday they gave us a pasta dish take home and two small cookies- unique surprise:)
i always enjoy Buca on King Street, however, $55.00 for a pizza, $35.00 for Salumi that had at best 100 grams of meat and $8.00 for bread is a major rip off. The food id great, the staff is wonderful, but, please, owners, give your heads a shake!
Incredible food and service. We enjoyed date night here for the first time and will return again soon!
This was our second time at Buca. We were hoping for the tomato basil gnocchi but since the menu changes daily, it forced us to try something else.
We had some charcuteries, sea urchin gnocchi and pizza. All were delicious!
We want to go back again soon!
We were received warmly and given the option of waiting at the bar till our table was ready( we were early). The waitress was attentive without being intrusive. We liked that she knew exactly when to check if we needed anything in a very professional manner. She knew the menu and made good recommendations for both food and wine. The pasta was perfectly done and the octopus literally melted in our mouths. Our friends had pizza and sea bass and were equally happy. The tiramisu was delightful. And the gelato was awesome. It was our first time and we would definitely come again
Loved our server Rachel
Had a wonderful dining experience on Saturday for a special birthday dinner. Nice menu, excellent food - the highest quality ingredients and nice presentation, great vibe, excellent and attentive service, great wine list. We couldn't have had a better experience. To top it off, the chef sent us home with a fresh pasta and sauce pack as a gift to enjoy the next day! Terrific spot - I will return and highly recommend Buca!
Fabulous night, they were great and had some wonderful special treats for the birthday boys!
Was there for my friends birthday before heading next door to the Hammam Spa. Staff were excellent and the food, as always, outstanding. The Sous Chef even came out to give my friend, the birthday girl, a take home gift. Love your restaurant.
I first visited this restaurant when it opened a few times for different occasions. I haven’t been back since some changes occurred. I was displeased to smell mould as entered and seated at back....asked to be moved. Servers weren’t overly interested in being attentive. A few nice bites but disappointed with most. Too bad I mentioned this place to friends to treat them and it was nothing like I remembered from the good old days.
The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. This was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end.
The SPAGHETTI AL NERO DI MAIALE was one of the best dishes this city has to offer. The pizza however, is over priced and not the greatest (there are definitely way better in the city), and the dessert was adequate.
Wonderful food that showed creativity and great knowledge of how to make tastes come alive. My friends from amsterdam were very impressed.
Was unfortunately very disappointed in the this restaurant. The service was sub par, our server barely came over to check on us. Also disappointing to see what looked like a manger check on the table next to us every 5 minutes and not even ask how our meal was. He even noticed our empty glasses and didn't come over. For a high end restaurant I should not be filling up my water glass and my wine glass during my meal. The food was extremely salty that you couldn't taste what you were eating. Overall very disappointing for a restaurant that had high expectations in my mind.
Had a lovely dinner for my husband's birthday. Food, service, and wine were excellent. House kindly sent us home with a sample of pasta which we enjoyed the next evening - a very nice touch!
