We visited Bubby's Tribeca today for brunch and couldn't have been more disappointed. It took over 10 minutes for anyone to approach our table and then another 15 minutes before they arrived with the coffee we requested. Upon ordering, we were informed that the first two items we requested were not available (Lobster Roll & Frisee Salad). When asking for alternatives, our waitress was of little help. After trying our cocktails, we realized that the Moscow Mule tasted like sour lemonade with a splash of ginger. We requested another drink, 15 minutes later the Mimosa had not arrived so we cancelled our drink order and asked for the check. Do yourself a favor and avoid Bubby's, there are plenty of great alternative brunch spots in the area that are "hungry" for your business and eager to please.
Extremely hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant and no one seemed to care.
The food was great, but the prices were high. Also felt rushed by the staff.
Amazing gem inTribeca. We make a point to visit every time we are in NYC.
excellent quality and choices for fun food
we loved our experience
I chose Bubby's Tribeca for my 25th birthday dinner with family and close friends. I knew I wanted a place downtown with food that I'd really enjoy (not just super fancy food that doesn't fill me up). I found Bubby's on Yelp and was eager to try it out.
Once we arrived at Bubby's (an early Saturday dinner so there'd be plenty of time to go out after) I knew this was a great choice. We were seated right away in a corner booth and one of the friendliest waitresses ever. We had Chinese Takeout Ribs as appetitzers (AMAZING!!) and of course the biscuits (the butter is OUT OF THIS WORLD). Two of us decided to go for the 'Breakfast for Dinner' option while others chose Fried Chicken and coleslaw. It was fancy diner food and truly truly incredible.
For dessert we all got a piece of pie. Birthday pie > Birthday cake. The pies were amazing and a fun twist on a Bday tradition. Overall wonderful experience and would definitely return and recommend.
A very solid restaurant with good ambiance and feel. Nothing too crazy, just a good spot to eat. A little overpriced though.
I have visited Bubby's in the meatpacking district in NYC. It was really great for Sunday brunch. However, I went to the Bubby's in Tribeca and didn't have the same experience. The service was lousy and the value was not great. The food was delicious but not worth the money for such small portions. The service was very poor to say the least. It didn't turn out to be what I thought.
Really great food, as always. Loved the Chicken burger! Fries were only so so but overall very happy. Will definitely be back again soon.
We enjoyed our food immensely. Our service was extremely poor (bar and waiter). Hostess was prompt and attempted to explain away the other aspects
The food was just OK--worse than I remembered. Our waiter seemed to be handling the bulk of tables in the main dining room and seemed overwhelmed. He was friendly, but kept forgetting things. We were a big group (7) with several kids, though, so not the easiest table.
Awesome brunch place, especially great with groups! It's our go-to for friends in town and special events!
Everything is a bit pricey but all the food is delicious. We went in the early Summer and the AC wasn't working that well but we still enjoyed ourselves.
The Best pancake I've eaten in New York .
All was perfect
Wonderful home feeling ambience. Informal kid friendly great brunch and lunch menu. American classics and great our
The majority of our party was very late for our reservation, but they seated part of the party & were so patient and understanding about the delay!
Best bacon around. Don't miss the James Beard pancakes with caramelized bananas!
Good food and drinks although very pricey for options. Not a place to go on a regular basis as it is very expensive.
Overrated, unfortunately. Also, stay away from the sourdough pancake - yuck!
Overwhelmingly loud- 10 young women parked behind my wife and I and it was literally impossible to hear each other. The other tables tried to compete to hear one another as well and it just continued to get louder/ I laughed it off but at some point the staff has to step in and ask the loudest group to take it down a notch as other diners were visibly annoyed.
One of the best options in Tribeca for any kind of meal
My husband and I went with our 2 kids (6 yr and 4 yr) and had a great time! The food came very fast and everything was delicious. My son who is a very picky eater, ate more at Bubby's than I've ever seen him eat. I've known many friends over the years who frequent Bubby's but this was my first time. I definitely plan on returning very soon!
We went with a group from work and they were quick and attentive. Food was fantastic, great portions and menu options which is always great to have with a group setting. Overall really enjoyed this restaurant. Be sure to book as it gets busy during the week being in the neighborhood for many offices
Great food! The blueberry pancakes (sour cream) were the best!
The "not your typical" nachos rocked! The matzo ball soup was fantastic! The fried chicken was literally THE best we've ever had, plus the biscuits with yummy homemade jam were soooo tasty! The homemade sodas & lemonade a also stole the show
It definitely needs again and again visit. I just tried the bubby's signature brunch which feats eggs, bacon, toast and fried potatoes. They are the basic American breakfast, but the side dishes and how you would like to cook them change it into an extraordinary brunch. I asked for scrambled eggs but I didn't put much expectation on that. I don't eat them usually only if the nutrition needs. But the way how they cooked just changed my mind. I ate the eggs with or without the homemade jam and that just made me in heaven. I kept eating the eggs that didn't realize I just ate them all. I have ever had two eggs in one day or finish them in such a speed. And not to mention the amazing homemade jam, it's definitely another surprise. I even asked the waitress that if they sold anywhere. Unfortunately they companied with in house food only. Forgot to mention the cocktail have which didn't taste like vodka, even if it made from vodka, kale, and other greens which let the drink be healthy. I tipped more than what I usually tipped for brunch and told my friends the wonderful brunch there. Definitely will be there again and again and try other food there.
Bubby's is an amazingly consistent place to come home to---I'm a breakfast/bruncher. You just literally cannot go wrong. If you're from out of town it is a great starting off point for your downtown adventures.
Everything was really yummy and fresh! Great place for dinner!
Unfortunately my sandwich had live bugs inside. Other people with me had no issues and enjoyed the food. I decided to pass. Probably just a single issue so I'll go back and give them another try since the service was good and they felt bad about my lunch.
I prefer this location to the one in the meatpacking district. The food is delicious and there are lots of great choices on the menu. I found it surprising that when I ordered a $20 omelette it did not come with toast. Charging an additional fee for that is outrageous. All in all my daughter and I had a lovely brunch but wouldn't eat here regularly because of the tab .
The biscuits were delicious and the fried chicken was good, but that's about it.
The ribs, which cost almost $40 were awful - dry, rubbery and not good. We ordered them for our 3 kids, who normally inhale ribs, and they wouldn't eat them.
We ended up throwing them out. My daughter, who loves soups, also did not like the Matza Ball Soup. Overall our dining experience was a disappointment. Stick with the biscuits and chicken.
The staff was nice, and the ambience was fine.
A very great for brunch. Nice and calm surroundings with great service. If you love pancakes, these are amazing. And also a very, very large portion - so you tummy will be full and happy.
Best biscuits! Always great meal.
Really wonderful waiter. Amazing nachos too!
Love going to Bubby's for their superior matzoh ball soup. Lots of veggies and pieces of chicken. Yummy.
I was pleasantly surprised at the attentive, professional, and friendly service that we received during a busy lunch seating. The food was delicious. My friend from out of town commented that his Steakhouse burger was the best burger he has ever had in NYC. I definitely agree that is is for sure on my top 5 list! Thank you Bubby's for a wonderful experience.
Bubby's never fails to disappoint. Having moved away from NYC, I took my British boyfriend there and two friends on a recent trip back. I had wanted to my boyfriend to try authentic biscuits. After a disappointing experience elsewhere, Bubby's came through with flying colours--so buttery, such a perfect balance between flaky and dense--all around perfection. I remembered loving Bubby's, but was afraid my memory might have inflated the experience. I was happy to discovery it had not--Bubby was every bit as good, if not better, than remembered. My American friends enjoyed it, too.:)
Fried chicken was so juicy and delicious. Biscuit and butter were wonderful. Fried zucchini had a bit of kick and the Mac and cheese was delightful.
We had a great meal at Bubby's. The crispy zucchini was massive and the buttermilk biscuits were interesting (it's basically a scone if you're British). Steak and burgers good!
I had heard Bubby's was amazing but I have to say my group was not bowled over by the experience. The drinks and starters were the stand outs in our experience but other that than all of entrees (warm kale salad, BBQ platter, and classic burger) were not great considering the price tag. My kale salad had nothing more than a little bit of cheese and onion to compliment it and was $18 the burgers had iceberg lettuce and beefsteak tomatoes on them for over $20 and the BBQ platter was a good portion of meat but was pretty salty.
Maybe it's better for brunch?
