Bryant Park Grill Ratings and Reviews
Decor - ambiance - service were fantastic. Food fell very short and was actually terrible. Eggs were overdone, potatoes stone cold and sausages flavorless. Two friends' chicken paillard was flavorless and tough - and not thinly pounded. Breakfast treats in basket (4) tasted like Costco treats. Not flaky - not fresh - just ordinary. I expected good food, not to be horribly disappointed.
It’s a busy spot
Pretty and great location
Turned out the food fast
It was decent quality not special food
Staff was non existent too busy
We had to chase down staff for more brunch coffee and to get check. Chairs in “garden” are pretty bad.
Still it was hectic but pleasant The managers try hard.
This place needs an overhaul. Everything was tired from the drab hostess that greeted us, to the rushed service and lackluster fare. I could have overlooked most of it but the food was disappointing and it’s really gone downhill. The short ribs were Luke warm at best and no veg with couscous (strange). wild mushroom ravioli was pasty and served in a bed of whitish sauce with a few strands of spinach, edamame, and under cooked tomato the end effect was a mess of mushy squares floating around in a strange glop, salmon was again not hot and under seasoned and the pork chop was tough. Won’t be back:
Thank the hostess who found us a table despite my making a reservation on the wrong day. The waitress was attentive despite having large tables to deal with. The food was delicious, portions large. My only complaint was the noise level was high but only due to one table who were clearly partying. Since it is the holiday season it really can't be avoided.
The park setting is beautiful but that is about all I can say that is positive. The restaurant is extremely noisy, so don’t hope to have a conversation unless you like to scream. The crispy calamari was soggy, the French fries were soggy, and the chicken Paillard was tough and dry, though it tasted good. Worse, the server was curt and completely lacking in friendliness or charm. You are there for the scenery, that’s it.
We ate lunch here. It was quiet when we arrived at 11:30 then the place filled up around 11:45 to 12 and it was a bit noisy. However the food was good - the grilled salmon special was excellent; my chicken Cobb was OK, nothing special and have had better. We had a table by the window which overlooked the park which was nice for concrete NYC. Would go back.
While we did not consume alcohol we spoke with some gals who did and they said the bartender was the best one they have had in their 4 day visit to NYC.
Very, very poor service. There was mold on our bread, we never received water, we were pushed to bar seating because the restaurant couldn’t accommodate our reservation. They were busy, but I expect to be treated better when dining out.
Bryant Park Grill delivered an impeccable service from beginning to end. Appetizers were very tasty (bread trio is fantastic). Unfortunately cocktails and entrees aren't their fortè despite of multiple options on their menu. Cocktails poorly presented. Every entree from our table from sea food to steak were simply basic without any signature flavor and poorly presented. This is a place about ambience and nothing else.
It was CRAZY the day I was there. Although our server was very kind, we didn't get one of our entrees as ordered and had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the one we had ordered. And, most importantly, the chicken was under cooked and not edible. Our server took that off of our final bill, but it was icky. I think it was too crowded and too busy to get anything quite right.
I had many business lunches and dinners during over the past 15 years and returned to NYC on vacation. The food and service was excellent and seeing the park during the holidays was the best. After 10 years the Hostess still remembered me for those years. A special place for lunch or dinner.
Our server was sweet, albeit not very attentive when we got there. My daughter had the ravioli and she loved it. I had the filet and it was dry .... definitely not worth the price. We sat in the terrace or whatever that area is called in the tent - the chairs are super uncomfortable - the kind you sit in at a wedding reception. By the end, our server was excellent... perhaps she just was overwhelmed when we got there? She overheard me talking to my daughter about her birthday trip and put a candle in her dessert which was sweet. Also I got to watch a man propose to his girlfriend which has nothing to do with the restaurant but it was fun!!
We had my wife's birthday dinner at Bryant Park Grill. Salads, soup, various dinner entrees, and dessert were all very good. We had two excellent bottle of wine - pricing on wine is perhaps a little high, but not crazy. Food prices were normal for an excellent restaurant. It's a festive setting with large windows looking out onto Bryant Park. Chairs in the indoor dining room were comfortable (note that chairs in tent area are banquet chairs - not recommended). We were concerned about the possibility of noise, but it was moderate. Service was peasant and professional.
We were in NYC visiting from Western NY. We chose Bryant Park Grill for Brunch and to catch up with a friend who lives nearby. We shopped and people watched at the holiday shops. Brunch was delicious with good healthy food and generous portion. Service was prompt and and attentive. Dining room was booming, it's the holidays everyone is celebrating. Overall wonderful experience.
My entree was over $40 but we couldn't get warm bread rolls for the table. Our server who never provided her name informed us it is their standard practise to serve cold bread rolls. Food is decent but nothing I would return for. In my opinion it is overpriced.
The restaurant was outstanding. We were celebrating a special birthday and unfortunately, we were sat next to a table with several very out of hand young children despite that there many other empty tables that would have lead to a quieter, more comfortable experience. I wish the atmosphere of this adjacent table had been noticed and we had been seated elsewhere to celebrate our occasion, but the food and service was otherwise incredible.
