We selected Brx from the OpenTable reviews and the outdoor dining area.
First, we really appreciated Chef Ahluwalia introducing himself as we finished our desert.
While we enjoyed the food, the service fell flat. No one greeted us at the hostess stand. After waiting a few minutes, we moved to the dining area and finally caught a server's attention and got seated outside right away.
The bread arrived before the plates and while ordered first, the wine came after the appetizer.
The outdoor dining area is lovely, and we really enjoyed its ambiance.
Very good appetizers. Trout excellent. My friend got the encrusted scallops and was not very impressed with them. A week before that she had the sautéed scallops and they were excellent. My other friend ordered the seared tuna and he thought it was very flavorful. We love this restaurant and will keep coming back.
We sat outside on first warm night of the year. Service by Ben was outstanding. Food was excellent... our favorite was the mushroom soup. The hummus appetizer was equally great. Special was the steak, It was excellent.
We were there for Easter brunch for which they charged $37 per adult. While they food itself was good, it was very overpriced. The selection of "adult" brunch food was limited, and the price did not even include a mimosa or bloody mary. My mistake for not reading the fine print when I booked the reservation, but the $37 price tag was a shock. I suggest carefully researching the offerings for Holiday events before booking. Otherwise, I like Brx, the food in general is very good.
The meal was outstanding!
Brx American Bistro is such an awesome find. It is unassuming from the outside and outstanding on the inside. I love the cozy décor with a fireplace and everything we have ever ordered has been delicious. All items are well thought out and well portioned. My kids ages 5,9,13 as well as the adults always find something we love. Brunch, pasta, fries trio, bruschetta, to name a few. Give it a try...you won't be disappointed.
Service was slow and inconsistent. it was difficult to get the server’s attention.
Another wonderful lunch! Warm fire, delicious soup and fresh baked banquette sure gets rid of the "March" wintry blues.
Great place. Been there many times. Never disappoints!!
Great salad ... delicious crab soup! Neighborhood gem!
Had a lovely time here after being without electricity for a while. Great decor, spacious, light filled dining room; super friendly staff; happy to let you charge your phone at the many outlets along the bar. Will definitely go back for a lovely dinner - they found the sweet spot of not being too casual and a sports bar and not being too fancy - you can dress up or down. Food was solid, we just had sandwiches but they were nice. Expect the dinner menu would be delicious.
Simply put .... always excellent food ... always excellent service .... always excellent atmosphere .... always excellent!!
The lunch was a little pricey, but the food was good. The waiter was sullen, but efficient. There were only two tables of customers, so he didn't have much to do.
Delicious food and cozy dining on a rainy Friday.
Extraordinary experience! The food is always delicious and prepared to perfection. Never disappoints!!
Great meal, everyone enjoyed their selections.
Had a table ready for us for our reserved time. The waitress was very polite and food timing was perfect. Great ambiance and had a great time. Definitely will make a trip back soon
The menu is extensive yet it doesn't feel like a jumble of random items. The entrees (salmon and scallops) were perfectly done and wonderful. The wine list is great, and the suggested wine was perfect for what we ordered. The brie appetizer with cranberry reduction and pear slice was outstanding. The service was flawless. The atmosphere is fantastic and it the noise level was very low - it was very easy to hold a conversation.
Excellent Cowboy steak Friday evenings.
Excellent food and service. I had the chicken piccata, which was perfectly cooked and had a very tasty sauce. Our server, Ben, provided great service, and the restaurant layout and décor was very nice (we ate dinner there). Good selection of wines.
Delicious soups and French bread in a relaxing environment ... doesn't get much better for a winter lunch!
Food is always great and the service is excellent! They also have a good amount of gluten free options.
This place rocks - always great food and atmosphere. You can’t go wrong just going off the daily specials and leaving the menu behind!
Food was fabulous! We had a newer waiter so service could have been a little better but by no means bad. Will definitely be going back! Great find!
Cozy delicious lunch!
Very pleasantly surprised on the first visit to this restaurant, which was previously unknown to me. The interior is attractive and welcoming; the food was beautifully presented and excellent (my guest and I both chose salads, with a resigned nod toward making healthy post-holiday choices), and the check was certainly not unreasonable, although the price was possibly just a little higher than might be the case at competing enterprises.
I will definitely try BRX American Bistro for dinner and/or brunch sometime soon, just to get a sense of its approach to food other than salads ... although certainly my own salad was far tastier than anyone has a right to expect from kale, quinoa, squash, and chickpeas. (Very nice job, and thank you, Chef.)
Always an amazing meal with fantastic ambiance. This was a New Year’s Eve party and the menu was great with a notable wine selection.
The staff is always accommodating and professional whether dining at the bar or in the dining room. Great food, amazing wine finds and tremendous ambiance. Our "go to" restaurant always!
First time having brunch at Brx. Wow! Food was delicious ... from omelette and Eggs Benedict to bread pudding. Definitely a neighborhood gem!!!
Great lunch spot!
9 for brunch, we were the only people in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes. 6 people had their orders brought out, a seventh arrived wrong, the eight 5 minutes later, and the last 2 orders (one that was originally wrong) took and additional almost 10 minutes. The food was all good, but it was really unfortunate that most at the table had almost finished eating by the time the last 2 were served. No apologies or anything removed from the bill (a number of extra mimosas were ordered while waiting for orders). Only two other tables were dining when we left.
Weird place. Friendly but really uneven service. Shoehorned our party of five into a bar booth (with somebody having to sit in a high boy bar chair near the kitchen entrance) even though we had an advance reservation. Literally wiped dust off a drink menu and handed it to us. Specials listed as one thing but came out as something else. Food was marginal at best. Will not return.
We arrived to a noisy crowded reception in the main dining room and were ushered to a confined area behind a curtain. We were entertaining out-of-town guests but could hardly hear each other talk. Very bad environment in which to dine. The manager offered us free drinks. Nice, but will be careful in the future when we dine there.
Fantastic food, service and ambiance. Always the best experience.
My family loves this place for the food and the ambience.
I love how they turned on the TVs they just added to the dining room to allow us to eat in the restaurant but still enjoy the game
Sitting by the fire on a cold day with a bowl of one of their delicious soups, warm bread and a glass of wine ... nothing better!
This was our first visit to BRX. WE each had the soup and 1/2 sandwich luncheon special. The clam chowder was quite hot (temperature-wise, not spicy) but a bit too thick with cornstarch. Our ham and fontina sandwiches on a baguette was excellent. For dessert one of us had the miniature pecan pie (cleverly presented in a small martini glass) and my guest had the pistachio ice cream. The booths by the window let you view the lovely outdoor seating area. In nice weather, that would be the place to dine! The service is quite leisurely, so if you are in a time crunch, be certain to tell your server. Also, the lunch special does not explain that only three of the listed sandwiches are available as the 1/2 sandwich option. We would return if we lived in the area (Great Falls/McLean) but since we drove over 45 minutes to test this out, we would probably not return.
Always fantastic food, ambiance, service and people.
