Brown's Beach House - The Fairmont Orchid - Kohala Coast
Great for dates or special occasions. Adult atmosphere
amazing views, great food, and service. We will be back.
FAVORITE restaurant ever! Hands down!
Awesome service! Awesome views! Great way to end our Hawaii vacation.
Good service (not a lot of people at restaurant). Good
location (on beach). Food quite average with above average prices.
Great experience. Knowledgeable server, great view, wonderful food.
My wife and I live in Mauna Lani, and dine at Browns Beach House as much as possible. Even though we know everybody there they make everyone feel special, especially if you're on vacation. As residents each and every time we arrive we are treated with kindness, respect and the true Aloha spirit. Browns beach house right now is in an all time superior rhythm with new manager Raymond who has a great demeanor, Chef Alejandro at the helm who is incredibly talented. and of course the waiters , servers ,and hosts who all go beyond to make your dining experience memorable. Waiters such as Alice, Bruce, Frank and the whole team will make everybody feel special. However on this particular night it was my wife's birthday and Chef Alejandro and our waiter Alice which we know both very well created a night, and a luxurious dinner that we will never forget. It is so refreshing to see Browns Beach House operating beyond a five-star level with cuisine that even as residence , who go there quite often , simply amazed us. Chef Alejandro with the new menu he has put together is absolutely remarkable. Alice our waitress , as always, is incredible. Even though we are friends with most of the wait staff we watch them treat all the vacationers with extreme kindness and Aloha spirit. We feel that the waiters and servers are often overlooked as they not only have their eyes on the diners every need, but also on the cuisine . As it stands they are now functioning as a team and it seems that the kitchen is now listening to the waiters, and servers. Every part of the Browns Beach House team is important, and no one person should be overlooked as everything from a smile from a hostess, an Aloha greeting, and excellent cuisine by Chef Allijandro with his skilled chefs all matters. All waiters , along with the entire staff are all important and unique working within positions making Browns highly efficient in all aspects. Mahalo & Aloha!!
We absolutely loved it!! It was beautiful setting! The service was exceptional ! The food was delicious! We would highly recommend to anyone.
It was very good - but even though this reservation was made a month in advance - why is it that we were given a less desirable table location when there were many available in a much better location?
I didn't expect the food to be as good as it was. The chef here is doing it! Service and ambiance can't get any better.
Can't beat the views at the Oceanside restaurant. Pristine ingredients and a polished service staff create a special occasion worth a splurge. A fantastic curated list of wines that support and elevate the menu. I was there with my family enjoying our last night of vacation but even the teens were dazzled by the location.
Our waiter, Christian, was superior. He made our night. He is absolutely exceptional
Landed that afternoon and looked forward to returning to Brown’s to celebrate our son’s birthday. The outdoor, ocean-side ambience is elegant yet casual. Upscale, but not pretentious. The live music is beautiful and appealing to my teens as well as us. It was a wonderful launch to our Hawaii vacation. And the food and service are unbeatable. This is truly still one of the most amazing restaurant experiences in the world.
Need a significant improvement of foods. Ate beef, ahi poki. over cooked and not good beef quality. Ahi poki was not good either. Local shops much better.
Great dinner for our anniversary! Food was terrific, live music was great, and they gave us a complimentary dessert because we mentioned it was our anniversary.
Our dinner and experience at Browne's was almost perfect. And that's only because nothing is perfect. Our food, server, and location were all excellent. I will be telling my friends.
We have eaten here before, so we knew what to expect. We had a wonderful table for 2 directly in front of the beach. It was a breezy and balmy evening that added to the already wonderful ambience. We had some nice drinks from the bar and a wonderful shrimp appetizer. We followed that up with a delicious crab-stuffed Kona Kampachi dish that was beautifully prepared. We finished up the evening with a beautiful dessert that was provided gratis since it was our anniversary. We will be back again. Great food. Great atmosphere.
The lovely sunset view was the best part of the evening. The food was mediocre: my “deep sea catch” was sort of a seafood stew with a chunk of over-cooked swordfish and very much lacking in flavor of the fish or the spicing, the saving grace was the 2 nicely cooked shrimp; 4 of the party ordered the sea bass special - only one person found it acceptable but all agreed that the texture was not like any sea bass they’ve experienced before - it was more like a monkfish. This group has experienced good seafood all over the world. One of these sea bass was also undercooked so the center was raw. Our waiter quickly exchanged the dish for something more suitable - another saving grace. I shared a grilled octopus appetizer which was quite good and it should be at $21 for 6-7 pieces of octopus. The people who ordered the Ahi Caesar salad were quite disappointed: the nice little piece of ahi on top did not make up for the unsuccessful deconstruction of a traditional Caesar even when one discovers the dressing underneath the lettuce. Another saving grace - the table bread selection was good and as it turned out necessary. At $45 or more per entree - one would hope to have a decent meal. The presentation was nice - but it did not make up for the forgettable cooking.
Our sever did not inform us that the entree we were ordering was going to miss a key ingredient. We only noticed it missing when we received our dish. After we informed the server, she offered us extra prawns and a discount off our meal. We weren’t happy with the way she offered the substitute because our other dish was already out. If we were to wait for another dish, the first entree would be cold and not appetizing. She should have offered the substitute when we order the entree. Then the manager came over, insisting that she informed all her tables, which she didn’t inform us, and offered another entree. He was smug and condescending. We ended up getting a side dish in place and only eating a quarter of the second dish. Food tasted great but service was unimpressive. We’ve dined at Brown’s many times and come to Kona just to eat here. We will now reconsider returning and recommending this place just based service alone.
No real WOW factor. It was good, not great!
We had a lovely evening. The setting is spectacular. The waiter was very friendly.
incredible view of the sunset. the food was also excellent as was the dessert. really a wonderful experience
First time there for dinner. Everything was wonderful, Food was delicious and served at appropriate intervals. Server Christian fantastic
Wonderful food and service. Beautiful restaurant.
Perfect oceanfront location. Extremely attentive service. And the food was excellent. Great for a very special occasion.
One of our favorite places to dine. The setting is beautiful and they are ver accommodating to vegetarians.
An absolutely first rate experience in all aspects. My wife and I both had the crab encrusted kampachi which was delicious. Our table was almost in the water and the sunset was spectacular!
Mi wife and I had two seafood dishes - both were excellent. The Kampachi dish was one of the best preparations of this delicious fish that I have ever had.
Went for a romantic/island anniversary dinner. Atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable. Elegant yet relaxed outdoor seating. Beautiful view at sunset. Had delicious Ahi poke and fresh fish of the day. Service was excellent. Anniversary dessert, nice touch.
Brown’s has always been expensive but we planned a special anniversary dinner there because we got married at the Orchid and it’s a super special place for us. The scenery is amazing and it’s always a lovely experience to eat there and watch the sunset, but the food is incredibly overpriced yet average. The staff is super friendly but we still left feeling ripped off. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be back.
Wonderful atmosphere, food and service. The crab encrusted kampachi was one of the best dishes I have ever had.
Good service and food delicious
Wonderful Kampachi topped with crab and purple potato puree. Perfectly balanced cocktails. It's pricey, sure, but nothing shocking given its a resort and in Hawaii.
We had a waterfront table that was located apart from the other tables and it was perfect for a romantic sunset dinner with quiet live music. The food was prepared beautifully and tasted amazing! We loved everything that we ordered. Recommended for a special date or celebration.
Delicious, fresh and local food. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and timely.
The view was amazing with the sunsetting on the water. Service was excellent. We had a terrific server, Christian. Food was executed very nicely. Good wine selection.
Wonderful !! We will definitely be back again!
Everything was fantastic. Dinner on the beach watching the sunset can’t be beat! Do not skip the mauna lani mule! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
