Wonderful food and atmosphere, kind and attentive staff that easily accommodated our change in reservation time and party size. The food was excellent!
Disappointing. Once was cozy special place, now common money maker. Host s/w rude when I ask not to be seated by server station. Won’t go again. Noisy.
Beautiful restaurant… staff was kind… food was delicious.
I would recommend that they should try to be different than every restaurant in Cincinnati and NOT have 16 Bricks Bread. SO many restaurants have it - I can buy it in Kroger's - and it is made by a machine, not by hand. Why not get some really good bread from some other of the many local bread bakers in town! I am so tired of almost every restaurant thinking that 16 Bricks Bread is something to advertise about!
Always a great place to be. Very good with dietary restrictions.
Was a good time
Lunch was great. Atmosphere was conducive to a business lunch yet casual enough to be comfortable.
The food was amazing as always. I only wish I had a bigger stomach so I could eat more! I had the wild boar bolognese, which was outstanding. The staff is always so sweet, too. I’ve really enjoyed the NA cocktails the last few times I’ve gone. I wish more places did that. We’ll be back for our 10 year anniversary next year! Thanks for catering our wedding 9 years ago and for continuing to make amazing meals every time we celebrate something big in our lives.
We are traveling in the Midwest from Honolulu. We found the Brown Dog Cafe through Open Table—what a find! Ambiance, food and service were all fantastic. Kitchen, especially during this challenging time, was off-the-charts in a great way. Unique offerings and even better flavor. Highly recommended!’
Very nice eatery in the heart of Blue Ash. Hidden gem
We needed a quick dinner for 6 before a play and it was perfect! Great drinks and great food!!
Sat for 1.5 hrs without receiving the food we ordered. Eventually just had to get the check for drinks and leave.
I enjoyed the Brown Dog Cafe very much. Our wait staff was attentive, the food was good and in these Covid days, the tables were nicely spaced. We spent a longer time than usual and did not feel rushed in the least.
The steak was outstanding . It melted in your mouth . Delicious
Date night with my husband. Had reservations at 7:30 and the place was packed and knew it would be awhile before we would be seated. We were lucky and were able to get seats at the bar. Lisa the bartender was amazing and the food was delicious. Had a great evening!
Our first time dining here and we had an eh experience. There was a 25min wait although we had reservations which was a little annoying but NBD as everyone else had the same issue. I ordered the salmon, my husband the seafood paella, chicken fingers for my son and pizza for my daughter. We also shared the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer.
The most bland and un-memorable dish was definitely the paella. Sadly, my husband said while the paella was full of seafood, it was bland/unseasoned and had zero saffron taste. In his words, it "tasted like swamp water." The non-alcoholic drinks were good with the exception of the blackberry Italian soda. It tasted like heavy cream and nothing else. I suggest they either remove it from the menu or truly teach their bartenders how to make an Italian soda.
My salmon was a tad overcooked and I wish a bit of extra sauce accompanied since it was paired with mashed potatoes which caused a very dry mouth. However, the kids meals were quite delish so maybe this spot should be more for those wishing to grab a bite and not have a nice dining experience. The Brussels sprouts were ok but I wish they were fried and tossed with the pancetta and a parmesan cheese vs the nearly boiled way they were presented. We likely won't return since DH was so turned off by his meal but I'd be willing to give it a second try when out and about in Summit Park.
IMHO, The Brown Dog Cafè never disappoints.
Their menu is creative, expansive and unique; the wait staff is knowledgeable, charming and efficient; AND when the weather cooperates, there is a comfortable covered patio area that overlooks Summit Park.
Some items very overpriced. They have system where no bill is presented. They tell you your total and then hold a pad while you add a tip and sign. You can't tell if you were charged correctly.
Wine was very expensive for the house cab
Service issues like most places currently
Our waitress was triple seated and handled it like a pro
She did her best to keep up on everyone's Drinks despite having about 14 tables
Host was visibly in a bad mood and had his poopy pants on
Food was great though
Clean and fresh ingredients
Presentation was well done
Nashville hot chicken was actually hot
Portion size is a bit smaller than expected for the price point
We sat outside with a heater nearby and really enjoyed the quiet - since few were choosing the outdoor option.
Food was tasty - but nothing unique this time. Menu changes seem to cater toward more comfort food than last time we ate here.
Enjoyed our experience
waffle huge hit with our 97 yr old guest
BDC could invite retirement homes to visit during outings for weekday lunch
The food was great. My salmon was perfectly cooked. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. We had a late addition of an additional two people to our party which they readily accommodated.
We took my nephew boasting how good the restaurant was but I feel like I let him down. I made a reservation but a table was not ready. We had to choose between hight top or outside when temperature was in the 40s. The high top table was too small for three people, so we chose outside. The booth was not clean, so we had to wait until they clean bugs off of the seats. When we sat in the booth, we were too close to the people sitting inside. The people noticed and put down the shade, which I thought funny. They moved the outdoor heater close to us, but it was out of gas.
We appreciated all the people who made our sitting possible in a hurry, but it would have been better if it was ready before we get there. Also, the receptionist could have been trained better with how to talk to customer. We expect to have table ready when we make a reservation, but she said "you could chose between this or that" without any explanation like a boss telling an employee.
We started with drinks and charcuterie, which was good enough to get our conversation going pleasantly, and the food was pretty good, but we were disappointed that Wild Boar was ground, not a steak! Our face was burning from the heater when our lower body was freezing. We had to put a heavy blanket over us to watch a movie when we get home.
I am marking for "Yes" for recommending it to a friend, but if I do, it will be with some caveats. We appreciate the server and other employees trying hard to make our dinner enjoyable.
Brown Don is a favorite local eatery. We enjoy the the interesting menu, the artfully prepared meals, the real fruit teas, the attentive but not intrusive wait staff, and the over all dining experience.
Haven’t been to the new location until now. Very nice, upscale, pretty popular and interesting and unusual menu. Staff is great, we’ll be back!
Extraordinary scallops and risotto dish with vegetables. Good green salad with roquefort cheese dressing. Fine service. Restaurant was much too cold. Manager changed the thermostat from 67 to 68. LOL
The restaurant was unfortunately understaffed so despite having a reservation were only able to sit outside despite an abundance of open tables inside. It was strange. But the food and drink were absolutely fantastic. And timely.
Salad was good though a bit small. Added chicken which was very good. Service was outstanding.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. As with many businesses right now, they are struggling with staff but there was a sign on door indicating that so we knew what to expect. More businesses should follow this lead. When we sat at our table we explained to the server that we understood she was over sat, busy and stressed. We told her to take her time and she seemed relieved. Dinner took longer, but food was very very good and time there was enjoyable. It is still one of our favorite spots.
Wonderful dinner, food was delicious and came in a timely fashion. The waiter was helpful with advice on selections. Will definitely make a return visit.
Brown Dog has always been a favorite. I am assuming the labor constraint impacted them on this particular Sat night. There was a sign on door warning us so maybe it will level back out. It seemed extra dark inside this particular Saturday night. The table and seat in booth was wet with cleaner and the spray bottle was left btwn window and seat. I added a piece of blackened salmon to my salad and that add cost $15. Although tasty and a bit overcooked, that seemed extra pricey. Entire meal for 3 was over $100 with tip. I will give it another try down the road but will avoid for the near future.
We had out of town guests for a Saturday 1 pm lunch and chose this restaurant for its large menu. I was disappointed to discover that only a small/limited brunch menus was offered.
Great service and amazing food
6 women enjoying a birthday celebration. Excellent service from Katie and others. Margarita was good. Everyone enjoyed their selections.
As always the food was awesome! Love this place.
It was a great meal and great location to get to!
A great local place to go eat. Food was wonderful.
We had not been to the Brown Dog Cafe for dinner in a long time. We were so happy with our experience. The food was delicious, the outside patio was cozy, and our waiter Sean was top notch. It was our anniversary and we could not have picked a better place to celebrate!
