The Nichols brothers, Matt & Jeff, grew up in Ames, Iowa where their love of cooking, good food and a sense of family and community was nurtured.

The 2013 opening of their second Santa Barbara Wine Country restaurant, Brothers Restaurant at the Red Barn in Santa Ynez, allows them to offer visitors and locals alike great food, wine and hospitality. The brothers strive to have legendary service, innovative cuisine, and a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that causes you to return time and again.

As chefs, the brothers continue to experiment with new dishes and cuisine, but always with that “from scratch”, homemade element. Fresh ingredients from local producers, a wine list that showcases the region’s award-winning wines and a comfortable and historically interesting atmosphere that takes you back to the romance of the old west. They want you to feel at home, and experience all the best of Santa Barbara’s Wine Country.

The prime rib was outstanding. Would prefer an 8 ounce option in addition to the 12 and 16 ounce options.
The server was happy to split the 16 ounce option for the two of us, but neglected to tell us there was a $8 split fee which surprised us when we received the bill.

We tend to go here at least one night every time we come up to the Santa Ynez Valley. As always, we walked out full, having had a great meal, great service and a wonderful experience. This restaurant never disappoints!

It’s was amazing food and drink. The spring rolls are delicious the tuna tartare is amazing. Creme brûlée was basic and original which made it a delight! The only downside of the meal is the calamari should not have had some many fried onions. I felt like it was a to be deceptive in terms of portion size of the calamari!

Always a pleasure to dine at Red Barn. We usually eat in the Bar But it was a big Saturday nite and very busy. Ate outside in patio. Service was excellent. Didn’t care much for the two tables with dogs but they were very well behaved. Just large
Food was excellent. Their pork rib is outstanding. And we split it. Plenty of food
We will try to stick to non weekend nights just because it is hard to have a conversation.

Food and service are always top notch., I have never eaten a meal at the RB that wasn't delicious. It can get a little loud so for people with hearing issues it can be challenging.
For a special occasion it is always our first choice.

It’s our friend’s favorite restaurant in the area. We had a wonderful prime rib dinner that was ample for sharing, cooked perfectly, with great flavors. That’s all our friend kept talking about before dining and now we see why. Funny though, after hearing the special they opted for the scallops and we shared our prime rib with him. They loved the scallops. Cooked perfectly. We had mud pie to celebrate my birthday, along with a creme brûlée which they said was the best ever. Very good, but the mud pie was devoured first!

This restaurant exceeded our expectations. Everything was excellent...soups, vegetables, gratin potatoes the filet and prime rib were all delicious. I would return anytime and highly recommend.

We ordered the tuna tartar and pork chop to share between two adults. the resturant charges 8 dollars for shared food! We had a generous portion of deliciously seasoned pork chop, bacon mash potatoes and veggies. I was so perfectly cooked and prepared i could eat it every night. We will return!

The staff at the Brothers Restaurant were very accommodating for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and did an outstanding job of waiting on us. My wife is very allergic to gluten, so the waitress ensured that the kitchen was aware, and our meals were cooked exactly as ordered. My wife had the Filet, and I had the Prime Rib, both were excellent.

The food and service was outstanding. I can’t remember when I last ate so much. The only blight on the evening was we were seated next to a large party. As large parties can be, they were rather loud. Not their fault or the restaurant’s, but it did impact the overall ambiance.

The restaurant was a lot louder than I expected, but OK. We got seated in a corner of the restaurant with a view to the wine cellar, but it was quite dark. The food was good, but nothing special, thus the 3 stars. The bed of rice and veggies my wife’s scallops arrived on reminded her of airplane food. The scallops were tasty, but the accompaniment could have been better, especially for the price. Service was fine, nice server, can’t complain. Overall, I was expecting so much more after reading the reviews. Good food and service, but a bit pricey for what you get.

Matt and Jeff have always maintained a very high level of service food quality and continue to excite and surprise without exorbitant pricing. Sound level is high but not annoying. Santa Inez will remain one of our vacation destinations because of The Brothers Restuarant at Red Barn.

I chose this restaurant to have dinner with a friend. My choice of entree listed on the website was the salmon (delicious 👍) but your online menu price was $29 & at the restaurant it was $35. I hope you will rectify that for others considering your restaurant.

My husband and I shared the prime rib. The kitchen split it onto two plates, with plenty of sides. It was very tender, and we couldn’t even finish it! The only drawback was that it was very hot and uncomfortable inside, not sure what is up with the a/c.

We so lucked out picking this Santa Ynez restaurant! We were visiting the area for a few days. I had the salmon that was absolutely delicious & mouthwatering. My husband had the pork chop & said it was outstanding. We had a pre- meal drink at the cute bar ( good bartender) The ambiance & service was great. We would go back & highly recommend
