Brother Jimmy's - Murray Hill
We serve down home cooking with southern hospitality. We also serve as the home away from home for all ACC alumni.
The popcorn shrimp was a decent sized portion.
The chicken was well cooked, the coating perhaps a touch bland
Fries were ok and a decent size
Fun place for good beers and barbecue. Tends to be loud so be prepared
Delicious food, good happy hour
Food was ok, good size portions and the mac n cheese was pretty good. Service was good. Ambience was too loud for our liking but fine if you like that way.
Great experience! Attentive staff.
had lunch on Fri Aug 2....service was fine....food just so-so...had higher expectations....so not sure I'll go back....
The food was wonderful but the service was poor. Although our drink order was taken quickly, it was quite a while before we actually got them. It took the waitress a long time before she came back to get our food order. Food was delivered quickly and was very good. The noise was so loud my husband and I could not hear each other talk.
Food was terrible. Orders came out wrong and cold. Worst BBQ ever!! Service was just ok.Had to
look for the waitress several times.
Not good.
We had Spare Rips, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Burger was really good. The Staff was very friendly.
We liked the Location very much.
Good food especially if you like BBQ and southern food but the volume of the music in the dining area were way too loud.
Terrible food and service.
The food was moderate, but both service and ambiance were a bit of a let down. It’s a Southern BBQ joint and I was hoping to find a little country music, but instead loud pop music blared so loudly I had to shout to talk to my dinner partners. Food wasn’t anything special, but it was filling and fun.
Great comfort food. My ribs were cooked to perfection. The service was quick and helpful. It is a nice informal place to relax.
Went with friends, enjoyed a beer tower etc. awesome fun, amazing wings!
Usually this place is good.
The service was slow.
when we asked the busboy to bring containers for take home he just smiles and leaves and does not bring them.
Told he did not speak English.
That is fine except then call the waitress to see what it is we are asking
Took out-of-town friends to Brother Jimmy’s. Food is good - a little pricy though, and music was just too loud to talk easily. But staff is nice so worth a try if you like BBQ
The meals we had were seasoned well and the portions were just right.
Enjoyed the food, first time at this restaurant. Excellent quality of food. Overall lovely place. I’ll definitely come again
Four of us went after a Zumba cruise. After dancing for four hours, everyone was really hungry.
We were seated immediately and given a large pitcher of room temperature water. We asked for ice water which we received quickly. We all ordered comfort food (fried chicken, catfish, ribs, pulled pork, collard greens, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and a pitcher of sangria). We were told that all of the food was made to order and that it would take some time. We were okay with that because we ordered a pitcher of sangria.
When we received the food, it wasn't hot. It was room temperature at best. The chicken had too much breading and tasted like it was cooked with the fish. The mac & cheese was tasteless, the collard greens had too much spice and the sangria (despite drinking most of it myself) had no kick whatsoever! We all picked at our food and left wondering what we were going to eat when we got home. Overall, the staff was very nice but I don't think I'll be visiting again.
Very nice BBQ, specially the ribs and sides. Although I went to Brother Jummy's for lunch, it seems a god place for happy hour.
Real american food and ambiance. Thank you for your warm welcoming. The food was fun and we enjoyed it. Nice music. The basement with all games and the bar are really appreciable for friends parties.
We are fans of Brother Jimmys and have eaten at the MSG location several times so we decided to try the one in Murray Hill as we would be on the east side today.
We waited over 20 minutes and no one came to our table to say they were busy, offer us water - nothing so we left. The entire time we were watching at no one visited any of the tables around us and we only saw two tables served during our stay. The walls were opened up and it was very cold - all the patrons were were wearing their coats.
We will not go back to this location.
We were staying in the Murry Hill neighborhood and found Brother Jimmy's to be just right for an all-American early dinner. We both had ribs which were cooked just right with the meat melting off the bones and the spices in the sauce excellent. The baked beans were as good as gandma makes! The service was efficient and friendly. If you love sports while eating TVs are all around.
This Is My 2nd Time Coming To This Restuarant &'Location. I Came Here Back In October For My Bday n Like The 1st, I Had An Amazing Time This Time Around. I Came Here With My Best Friend and Her Boyfriend Because They Wanted To Treat Me, I Was Worried Though Because I recently Started My Pescetarian Journey So I Can Only Eat Seafood, Fruits n Veggies. No Meat. I Was Happily Satisfied Because They Had Catfish Tacos Which Was Soooooooo Delicious Especially Sinc3 It Was My first time Eating Catfish. The Beach Magarita I Drank Was Amazing As Well. One Of My New Faves
I went here on a date night. My date and I made reservation days prior to attending. As we arrived someone greeted us and being seated was smooth. We were seated and went over the menu and ordered regular fried wings and drinks. My date doesn't eat pork. He started to feel extremely sick after eating the wings. He then asked the waiter if they cooked their chicken in pork grease. She didn't know and got a manager on site. The manager told us that it was pork around but wasn't sure if they cooked their meat in any pork grease. They were kind enough to take the wings off the bill but our night was ruin and had to sit in an emergency room for hours that night. Won't be back here in the near future. They need to list certain things.
Good sangria. Rib tips and popcorn shrimp great appetizers. Staff very attentive.
I have enjoyed Brother's Jimmy for years, they have to pay rent in the city so the price keeps going up like in must of the business ... to me a deterrent of going out to eat as much as I used to, after living in the city for 18 years, it is what it is ...
Great comfort food and friendly service make this a winning combination. Then"platter" meal gives good value.
I always love dining at Brother Jimmy's. This is my favorite restaurant & bar food in NYC. The wings burst with flavors. The other night me and my girlfriend tried the 64oz Swamp water, it was delicious!
The place is nice but very loud but then again we were there to watch a football game so it was ok for us. The staff is friendly and lovely 😉. Food was delicious but the drinks a little $$$. I will be going back soon.
Lovely food and we were really looked after! Can’t wait to visit again.
Spectacular food and service
Had an ok time at Brother Jimmy’s our waitress was lovely & the chicken wings delicious. We all had a burger or sandwich but all were disappointing. The coke machine was also broken.
Would’ve been good to know that there was going to be very loud live rock music as we would’ve chosen somewhere else as we were meeting an old friend & couldn’t really hear each other whilst catching up.
This is an excellent BBQ spot in Murray Hill. It is a bar, can be noisy on a weekend night, and this may slow down service....but...it is all worth it! The “marbled” beef brisket is excellent and the only thing we ordered. Side dishes were very good and a reasonable size. All in all a very worthwhile stop and reliable place for BBQ !
Ultimate comfort food BBQ ribs are unmatched comfort food cooked to perfection. This is a great place to have a tasty meal in a casual setting.
I have the BBQ ribs which were consistently good. The Bourbon laced tea was refreshing. The service was helpful and friendly.
This remains reliable comfort food in a casual environment. The BBQ ribs are great.
Good barbecue. There are better places in the city but this is fine.
We were there when the Yankees were playing Cleveland so there was loud music PLUS the play by play. And lots of drunken fans at the bar. Not annoying...just LOUD. Turn the music down if you're showing the game.
The hostess greeted me promptly and politely. My table was ready right on time, the server was friendly and efficient, food not great but atmosphere made up for it. Overall a great experience, I'd do it again.
