Brother Jimmy’s has celebrated over 20 years of legendary North Carolina, slow-smokin’ barbeque. As suggested by our slogan – “Put Some South in Yo’ Mouth” - Brother Jimmy’s mission was, and still is, to bring “down-home” cooking, hospitality, and merriment to the heart of the New Brunswick!

This was our second visit here. We opted for the pre fix Valentine's day menu which included and appetizer, two side salads, two entrees, a brownie with ice cream dessert and two glasses on champagne.

The champagne came out with our driveway k order, nothing out of the ordinary.

The appetizer took a long time to come out, we get through about 1/3 of the appetizer when our meals come out, the waitress looks at us and says " he didn't time it ". We ask about our salads and the waitress brings them out, neither has any kind of dressing. After a few tries we manage to flag down our waitress and ask her for some ranch, she brings it.

We finish our salads and our appetizer at which point our food is no longer hot. My wife's half smoked chicken is dry, very dry. My ribs are so so.

Finally the dessert comes out with is a 3 inch wide by 3 inch long by 1/2 inch deep brownie heart and in a bowl next to it a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The brownie was pretty bland and the ice cream was average.

Overall we spent $ 60 on this meal, a beer and an iced tea. There was no organization and the food wasn't worth the money. Will not be returning here.

Did not like the way you pay your bill, they stick a screen in your face can't really review unless you take pad and look at charges. When I asked and received a receipt it showed that I was charged extra for dressing There wasn't enough dressing to begin with

Went here on a whim because I liked the bar menu and the food choices. Neither one disappointed! If I'm ever in the area again, I would come back!

We were able to watch our soccer match while we ate, and see Messi score against Real Madrid, while we ate our delicious ribs. Our guests said the brisket was great as well.

Restaurant was in a great location next to the train station, below a parking garage and near one of the Rutgers campuses. I was seated in the dining area and ordered an appetizer of chips and spinach dip. Chips were cold and the dip needed salt and more cheese added as it was hard trying to scoop the dip onto the chips. Thumbs down to that. I tried their can't sugar cherry soda which was great. The fried okra tasted as if they were a bit green since they weren't tender enough when I bit into them. Ribs, BBQ chicken and fries were good though. Too bad I needed a doggy bag for the rest of my dinner. I was stuffed. The ambience is the usual that you see in a BBQ restaurant. I saw a sign that was posted up with 50¢ wings on Saturday's, Wednesday's was Rutgers night and so on. I'll guess that the restaurant gets packed on those days. Foe me, the restaurant was just ok.

Service was practically non existent. The table was tiny, we had to put our own dishes in the bussing area we were next to after the appetizer because no one came to take the plates or cups. Waited 10 minutes to pay for a beer at the bar that had only one other customer.

We have been a fan of Brother Jimmy's in New Brunswick for 2 years now. Our last visit was in August. The menu has changed and the quality of the ribs has really fallen. The ribs were dry and tasteless. the "not lean" brisket had NO meat. We were very disappointed. The hushpuppies and the Cheerwine were the highlights of the meal.
Please return to your earlier quality. This was awful.

The presentation of the food was good but the barbecue did not have the grilled flavor that I am used to. It was tender but not smoky! For that reason, I would not return.

I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Brother Jimmy's BBQ. The food was delicious and the service top notch. My only grade lower than five stars because we were seated at a table next to the bar area and three ladies were sharing drinks just on the other side and it was like we were part of their rather loud conversation. I'll just ask for a seat away from the bar next time, but there will definitely be a next time.

On the night I went to Jimmy's (a Saturday)... this was a college hangout. I was disappointed by the actual BBQ food. The Marbled Brisket was literally the absolute driest I have ever had and the sides looked like something out of a cafeteria.
