Brooks' Bar & Deck at Edgewood Tahoe Ratings and Reviews
One of three restaurants at the Edgewood Resort, Brooks is a great place to hang out winter or summer. The view doing sunny times of the year is great from the outdoor terrace; the fireplaces give a warm chilly weather welcome. The food is not only excellent, but it is also reasonably priced: the salads are large enough to share, the sandwiches are filling, and the entrees put a lot on your plate. We love this place!
Not your typical 19th hole. Great vibe and Great menu. If you like Salmon... and you like Fish and Chips... Get their Salmon Fish and Chips. The fries are so-so, but the Fish is Fantastic! The Veggie Torta is also very good... big, filling and you *almost* don't miss the meat. I didn't ... I was looking for something "healthier" and this fit the bill perfectly. It comes with a nice field greens salad too.
Lazy afternoon lunch , drove up from Reno to spend the afternoon hanging out. A reservation was made. The deck was located near the lake but limited view, a bunch of golfers practicing putting and driving. Seated at the table, but have waited 5 min for a server to even ask for some water. Water came.. no lemon. Asked for lemon, a female server this time came back practically threw down the plate with two small wedges of lemon. A steak sandwich and mahi mahi tacos ordered. The tacos were pretty good but the steak was not of good cuts, i guess. Had tough time chewing through.. even though it was medium rare. Had to ask for more water, in short, the service could have been better. I would recommend the Brook's to friends, a nice walk along the lake and the view of the lake would sufficiently make up for the poor service.
Was here a year ago and then bedazzled with the view and the personalized service, all staff clearly focused on customer experience overall. Suddenly, this year there's a 180 degree flip in service. Waitress starts by letting us know (with a hint of attitude and no apology or regret) that Brook's is short on glassware, so we'd have to wait for water and cocktails. Then, she brings two pitchers of mojitos we ordered and sets them on our table - again, no glasses for 20 minutes. We were parched. No water to drink. Ice melting in the mojitos to water them down while waiting for glassware. Come on, a high end establishment like Brook's at Edgewood needs to play musical chairs with its customers for glassware? It gives us a good story to share. Heard there's been some recent changes in staffing? Maybe that explains it???
I've had good experiences at Brooks' in the past which is why I would still recommend it. We got the fried calamari appetizer which we've got a few times before. We love it, but this time some of the pieces were burnt which was pretty disappointing. It wasn't nearly as good as in the past and what I expect from them. The rest was ok, I think I was just bummed from the burnt starter. The atmosphere/view was great as usual.
For a bar/grill restaurant in a Tahoe golf course, on the water; The value of food, price and service were awful.
$100 for lunch. Nachos, Chicken Salad, Cheeseburger, kids grilled cheese, and 2 drinks. I had to spit my chicken out into a napkin a couple of times because it was so fatty. Nachos are bland. The service was awful, waiter forgot everything we asked for, and they weren't even busy on the patio. We had to find a place to pay the bill because we never saw waiter again. Won't be going back.
At 69, this was my 1st blind date and everything with the Brooks made the experience a lot easier. Both Joe and Missy took very good care of us and made both of us comfortable......no rush, rush to get us in and out, and when ready, was served promptly and professionally. They even have Casamigo and a decent house Chardonnay.
We had lunch with another couple at the American Century Celebrity tournament last Sunday. When we tried to log into the Wi-Fi, we couldn't. The employees told us it was shut down because no one knew how to get it working. A week later, the Wi-Fi is still a mystery to the entire wait staff. Passwords, unknown. Why it isn't working, unknown. There are some major teething problems that are preventing Brookes or the Bistro from being top notch restaurants. Everything seems a little disorganized, on the fly. It is certainly not like Brookes pre new lodge era.
Gorgeous location although the fence rails block the lake view. Bistro chairs would improve the view for most people ~ I'm 5'5" so about average. The prices are a bit steep so we're paying for the location, but the food is good, too. We live nearby so eat here several times during the summer & always enjoy it.
