Overall good - out of 4 orders the omelettee was really dry, service a bit slow due to overloaded bartender (only one on staff for a Sunday?!) and a bit loud for my taste.
We have been many times and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent and the food is consistently good.
A pasta dish I ordered was plentiful but not very flavorful. The shrimp were almost non- existent and the dish was overloaded with breadcrumbs. The corkage fee was outrageous for a local casual dining restaurant. Two dishes featured on the website were not available as well as the charcuterie platter from the menu that our group was really looking forward to having. Pizza was excellent. Our waiter did his best to provide good service but it was clear he was slammed and had a large number of tables to manage. All in all - the experience was not impressive .
Great food, drinks, and ambiance. It’s always a bit on the cold side though so bring an extra layer.
Always good! Great flavored popcorn to start, kale Caesar is awesome and fig, onion and prosciutto pizza is my favorite.
Brooklyn Girl is San Diego gem. The decor is whimsical and imaginative, the service is thoughtful and the food is great, with generous portions. Perfect for a special occasion or just a quick bite. We go back often.
Best place in town for a fun, relaxed gathering.
We had a great time everyone was impressed by the restaurant and their meal.
We had pizza for dinner. The toppings were delicious, but the dough was not really pizza dough. It was more like bread.
Incredible staff all around, cant wait to come back.
Outstanding service and ambiance. Food was too salty
The atmosphere is great and the decor is beautiful. We went there for brunch and were there for over an hour and we got one drink. Our waitress brought our food and one drink and never came back again to check on us. The only time she came back was to bring the check.
She never even came over to see if our waters needed refilling, which they did, since we never got any other drinks.
I was really disappointed in the experience, but I will try it again one more time. I’m hoping it was just an off day for them.
Yes, the popcorn is delicious and habit forming. We also enjoyed the cornbread with honey and Victoria's pizza. Definitely recommend and will return.
The food was excellent as usual but the service was the worst that we had experienced at the restaurant. The meals arrived after long after we had ordered and my mom’s meal was incorrect two different times. Our guest’s meal was incorrect also. There was no apology or acknowledgement from the server. Not a dealbreaker for future visits but definitely a bummer.
Wonderful place to go! We had a great cocktail to start with and shared lots of small plates bc we could decide what to choose from. Everything is so good. The service was great and we met the owner who is absolutely charming. We’ll be back very soon!
Usually our absolute favorite place in the neighborhood, but last night was a “miss” overall.
Took forever for our server to come by to take our drink order, then forever to get those drinks. He seemed overwhelmed and a bit flustered all evening.... something was off.
Then our meal just wasn’t up to par. We have had some really terrific food here but not last night. The Special was salmon - altho’ not very special - not very inspiring and the sides weren’t good. The All Kale Caesar salad was tasty but that silly tiny bowl has GOT to go — it’s ridiculous to serve a big salad in that manner - half fell on the table! Our guest was very frustrated with it. My Duck and Date salad was delish as always....no problems there.
With the noise, a wobbly table and stressed service, we skipped dessert and another drink in favor of another spot... too bad. We’ll be back again soon, and hope it was a fluke!
Great food. Great service. Always a pleasure to dine here. Introduced our friends to BG and they loved it.
Brunch with mom and dad in from out of town
We went for dinner during Restaurant Week, and our service was great. We ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, getting bue carpaccio and Vietnamese meatballs for the first course. They were outstanding. The carpaccio was gluten free. For the main course, we had the chicken breast (gluten free) and lamb with couscous (not gluten free), and they were both better than the first course. I am usually a slow eater, but I took my time because I wanted to savor the food for as long as I could. For dessert, we had the gluten free carrot cake and the pumpkin cheesecake. The dessert was the perfect size after a filling meal. We also ordered a cocktail, but I cannot remember the name. I do, however, remember the taste; it was delicious and wintery.
Overall good, excellent drinks and ambiance. Wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever had my entire life but it was still very goodFood wasn’t the best they have ever had in my entire life but it
David, I believe was our servers name. He was exceptional. He knew the menu well, recommended , when we asked - really good about timing. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening celebrating a birthday. I’ll keep coming back
We came to get together with old friends to catch up. It is a very friendly environment., liked the urban decoration, good ambiance. We were a little concerned about the noise if it will interfere with our conversations, but I am pleased to say that it wasn't. Our server was fast, considerate and very good communicator, the manager walked around and show true care about their customers.
We dine at Brooklyn Girl frequently, this time was for my daughters 21st birthday. There was six of us and we needed a place that had something for everyone. The service was great, food was delicious and the the noise level inside was perfect, we caould all talk and hear each other. Great night, within walking distance of our house!
Great Hillcrest neighborhood spot. Friendly waitstaff and bartenders. Steak frites and a Margherita pizza were perfect and the drinks excellent.
Good food and drinks. Loved the popcorn
excellent and cozy ---- amendable for different activity
Awesome pork chop. Lots of fun. Terrific energy. A regular stop that never disappoints.
Always warm and inviting with great food and cocktails! Love this neighborhood gem.
A great New Years Eve Dinner ! Would definitely recommend them !
An early New Year's Eve dinner. One of the few places without a pre fix menu. Drinks here are always excellent. My husband ordered Braised short run and I had Salmon stuff with crab. Both excellent. We also ordered their corn bread with a honey comb in top. So delicious! No room for dessert so we got carrot cake to go. Great experience.
Great drinks, fantastic steak. Pizza was to die for. Then there’s that wonderful bowl of popcorn - delicious.
Amazing hummus appetizer. Also love the popcorn on the house.
Brooklyn girl is a great restaurant and ambience. It’s a great place for date night, brunch, or friends and family get together. My last visit was for brunch and the food was just ok. Usually I like it much better. Perhaps it was just the dish I got. I will still go back as I’ve had several lovely meals here!
Wonderful ambiance. Quaint location. Great food! Wonderful attentive service! Would highly recommend!
Our server Dave was so fantastic. Friendly, sincere, and had excellent recommendations. Great food. Great service. Great ambiance.
Not a huge menu, but no complaints about what we got. Everything was delicious and the ambiance is great. Some menus online are outdated, check their website.
Horrible service and wait time for food. Our salad and pizza meal took 2.5 hours. I️ will never return to this restaurant.
Great food and good ambiance. Place was empty and service was super slow unfortunately. Service is there Achilles heel.
This restaurant is the star of Mission Hills dining , for weekend brunches and weekday and weeknight lunches and dinners. The menus are creative, the food is absolutely great, the ambiance lovely, the service is wonderful and the owners are gracious and accommodating . Couldn't be better! Highly recommended .
Truly the best brunch spot in San Diego!
