Brooklyn Girl Eatery Ratings and Reviews
We were there for brunch. I got the chicken and biscuits. You could barely cut the chicken. It tasted old - like it has been fried hours before then reheated in a microwave. However, the dish was cold when it was served. The biscuits were also dry and hard. One of my friends got the scramble and substituted the fruit plate for the smashed potatoes. $6 to substitute fruit is ridiculous! There is only a $3 difference on your sides menu, so why is that doubled to substitute it on an entree? Overall, very disappointed.
I found the menu options quite creative and eclectic from free popcorn to Viet Nam meatballs to crab salad that looks like a gigantic sushi roll. And it was all delicious. We also had their Brooklyn chocolate cake that was perfect - not gooey sweet, moist cake and pudding and I am not a pudding eater and it was just delicious.
This was our second visit here. I think the food is good and we will come back to try something else. The service is so so, I've had better. I think when we come for Sunday brunch we always seem to have the server that seems to have had a long night the night before. I don't think that speaks for all servers there from what I could see, just the ones we get. This time I ordered one of the daily specials which they were out of by Sunday at 11:45. So I got smoked salmon Benedict, which was good. Our son got the chicken and biscuits, which he loves, and my fiancee got the feta omelet, which was a little dry and the feta was over powering. I think the smashed potatoes are the best! I love the crispy outside and buttery flavor on the inside. I like how bright the restaurant is and the different kind of decor. I look forward to trying the lamb shank for dinner next time.
drove all the way from north county and was not impressed, my friend ordered her scrambled without potatoes and her scramble came with potatoes, waiter seemed new, we were told that there was an $6 uncharge for fruit instead of potatoes because of the hurricane??? we live in California the fruit was typical fruit you can get anywhere nothing exotic. i ordered traditional benedicts that were just mediocre, drinks were ok, definitely not worth the drive, not sure if they are more of a lunch/dinner place but they have major room for improvement for breakfast.
Overall my dish - lobster roll was ok -the smashed potatoes were incredible, the lobster roll on the other hand fell flat being overly salty which normally should have been down played by the Hawaiian roll which unfortunately was slightly burnt. That said that the ambiance was inviting yet chic (bird caged chandeliers) . Nice open concept, our corner had a well appointed fireplace/mantle which doubled as a chalk board (where the fireplace would be). Would give it another go - should have gone with one of my two first choices - pancakes/french toast. Neighboring patrons had both and cleaned the plates !
So needlessly loud one cannot converse over the din (every time it is that way). Good oysters, tasty designer and standard ar pizzas and more good things BUT (no. no. no!) not the veggie burger which is tasteless glob that falls apart on the plate. mid-range mostly forgettable wine list.
First time visit but we intend to visit again. We visited during restaurant week and did choose from that menu. The kale Caesar salad was very good as were the Vietnamese meatballs which were served with a really good slaw. Mary's free range chicken was served stuffed with ricotta, spinach and mushrooms and it was very tasty. My husband had the duck and he said it was also very good. Dessert did not disappoint. We choice the carrot cake and the chocolate chip bread pudding. We cleaned the plates. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
Service and food was 5-star! Brooke (our server) was friendly despite being super busy and working in a rather warm restaurant. Courtney (hostess/management?) was also incredibly friendly and helpful. The bar service was the only downside. Super slow! Shocking for a Sunday morning brunch. But Brooke and Courtney handled it like pros and made us feel special. I highly recommend the "Way, Way South Brooklyn" brunch option.
We were in San Diego and I searched for a nearby restaurant and picked Brooklyn Girl and am so glad I did. The food and service were excellent and menu was so intriguing. The decor definitely made me feel like I was in NYC at a trendy Village restaurant. Thanks for an amazing evening.
We've been to Brooklyn Girl several times, we had the mushroom pizza as an appetizer which was fantastic, highly recommend. I had the Ahi special which was seared to perfection over a bed of mango, tomato and other, and came with coconut rice, the flavors mixed together wonderfully. We also had the Gaucho Steak, again, superb. Our friends had the pasta special and the stuffed chicken, again, all were very good. For drinks we had the Lavender special and I had the Manhattan, we also had the IPA from, Old English Brewery which was also amazing. One of the best dining experiences we've had this year.
We love Brooklyn Girl and go here regularly for happy hour, lunch, dinner, and special occasions. The owners and staff create such a warm, friendly atmosphere and the food and drinks are consistently excellent. I'm not a fan of oysters but friends say the oyster bar is great too. A very special place!
Had a small glitch. However, waiter, manager stepped right up & took care of the issue. This is what a world class restaurant does.
Nobody can be perfect 💯 %. But they resolved the problem & We left happy & looking forward to a return visit.Recommend
You visit. Great food & service.
Gaucho steak is incredible, served perfectly medium rare with a great side of fingerling potatoes (both marinated impeccably). Brown stone brick chicken was super moist with a slightly crispy skin - perfection and served on top of the sweetest baby tomatoes and arugula. Brussel sprouts with bacon were delectable! Burnt to a slight crisp on the outer edges with the flavor of the bacon, parmesan and nuttiness of walnut was perfect. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable with great recommendations. Ambiance was nice and quaint with interesting and eclectic artwork on the walls. Great neighborhood gem that will definitely visit again as the chef was very creative with menu items and presentation.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Saw great reviews and it lived up to its reputation. The owners Victoria and Mike, and their extremely friendly and talented staff were a true pleasure to visit. The food menu was very good, but to be honest, lacked focus (e.g. Seafood, pizza, burgers, Argentinian...), but was all very good. This may be because it's a local spot so they prepare something for everyone. The drink menu was amazing. Their cocktails were unique and interesting, well-made, and freaking tasty! I highly recommend this place for a friendly all-around experience.
What a gem! Wish I'd been coming here sooner. The atmosphere is great, rustic chic, steampunk. Service was impeccable. Brunch options fantastic. The chili verde eggs and the potatoes are delicious. Great pizzas too. Our group loved the experience and will be back very soon! Thank you very much!
