We loved the new authentic Greek dishes available from the lamb baklava to the grilled octopus. All dishes were very flavourful, the service was great and we will definitely go there again.
Newly renovated space looks great. Food is fresh and cooked to perfection!
Had a very nice dinner. Jill, our server, took very good care of us! Excellent food, as always. Recent renovations look terrific as well! Thank you!
We had a dinner reservation and had to wait still over 15 mins before being seated. The new menu with the renovation is now sub par
This was my first visit to Broken Plate and I will be back on my next business trip to Calgary. I found it using Google for Mediterranean food and saw all the excellent reviews. It surely lived up to reviews. Awesome food!
Great little community restaurant loved the food and serving size
We ate family style for 5
We had miss understanding about are drinks but other wise it a great dinner
We have been here before but some time ago, so when we arrived we realized that it had been renovated inside and it was pleasant but reminded us of a diner rather than fine dining.
We enjoyed our appetizers but the pita tzatsiki was a little small, when our entrees arrived we were disappointed that the sides were missing, they had to be ordered separately and quite a few dollars more, my moussaka was sufficient but a small salad to go with it would have been nice, my son ordered lamb souvlaki and it was all that was on the plate, a few potatoes and a little portion of veg would have been ideal. We will not be going back because of this and our bill was quite high for what we had with only bottled beer too there was no draft beer.
Beautiful renovations, excellent food and service. One of our favourite spots!
The restaurant looks great after Jan 2018 renos ; brighter, trendy, bistro feel. Had a great birthday dinner for my daughter.
We live in the neighbourhood but haven't been back to Broken Plate since it first opened. Now we remember why... prices are quite high for the quality of the food. Service was friendly but extremely slow - our entrees had clearly been sitting before we received them. My salmon and its accompanying veggies were nice but the "risotto" was undercooked and inedible; my husband's veal was just OK. Overall an underwhelming date night meal for over $100
Service was excellent. Wine great. Food was good but not great. Lamb shank ($30) was dry and under seasoned. Tomato sauce on top was uninspired. Would not recommend it. Would suggest sticking to the other Greek stand by’s abd You should be good to go.
Great food, great atmosphere and great experience.
I have been coming here since it opened many years ago and it never disappoints. The menu changes but my favourites are all still there. The wine is reasonable in cost and what we didn't finish we took home. The Greek music is boisterous, as it should be, but not too loud to talk so contributes to the atmosphere. They have done a great job with the updating and redecorating.
Great service! Enjoyed the newly renovated look! We will be back!
Lamb was excellent the first time I went back in December 2017. Assuming it was a bit busy for Valentine's Day, this time it was way too dry and not as flavorful. Service was great however, but very disappointed with the food. Reasonable prices, but had higher expectations based on previous reviews.
Always a fantastic place and food
Updated décor looks great, sufficient wait staff, the lobster ravioli was excellent as was the chef's special red snapper on risotto. The calamari was very tasty. Should have had two orders.
First time here but definitely not the last! The service was great and the tables were cleared very promptly. Food was amazing, we had the Zeus chicken and Spanakopita to start then the creme brulee and the cheesecake for dessert. 100% reccomend
Always excellent food
The owner / manager Irwin & wife are excellent people dedicated to an excellent dining experience
We have been dining there since it opened 15+ years.
Will return again multiple times this year.
Really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, always friendly greetings as you enter & a great menu to order from. They have done a wonderful job in refurbishing the restaurant, found it to be more spacious with modern decor. My wife & I will continue make it one of our favorite places to dine in Calgary.
Food was unbelievable! Had a great time!
Loved the saganaki, avgolemono soup and broccolini!
This was our first time going since the renovations. The inside of the restaurant is very bright and did not give off the vibe of a Greek restaurant. The new menu is horrible. The selection to choose from is slim and nothing sounded very appealing. There was a group of 4 of us and no one was satisfied with their meal. The proportions were small and the food came out cold.
This was one of our favorite restaurants before the renovations and after last night we will not return.
Revised Greek Menu was delicious and the moderne atmosphere was bright and refreshing. There were a couple of new appetizers such as grilled octopus which was very tender and smokey as well as lamb in phyllo which was delicious. Also new on the menu were family style dishes which allows you to choose more healthier portions and sides (such as brocollini or roasted carrots). We loved these selections. Dessert (the cheesecake) was also very delicious. Everyone loved the food and will come again.
Newly renovated restaurant....looks lovely and food was sensational!
We went for a birthday dinner, the food was so delicious. Our server was lovely and attentive, the music was great. Would recommend.
The Broken Plate has just reopened after re-furbishing. Looking very fresh and pleasant, though with shiny surfaces to walls, ceiling, tables and floors, it is too noisy. Pleasant and efficient staff. We found the new style menu a little confusing, trying to understand starters from main courses. The food was good, if not exceptional, and value for money.
I was in the mood for Greek so selected this restaurant based on the the reviews for a catch up dinner with friends.
Service - good and attentive, the restaurant wasn't busy.
Food - Lamb souvlaki was nothing to write home about and pricey for two skewers, the tzatziki was bland without the burst of garlic that I crave. The full rack of ribs dry and without much flavor. The side dishes of greek fries and baby carrots were good. The gelato (salted caramel and pistachio ) were exceptional.
I was not blown away by the food and in fact would say that it was mediocre by my standards. I did not satisfy my want for great tasty greek food.
Great salads and apps! We like to make a meal out or 3 or 4 of these with a glass of wine! Always enjoy the Broken Plate! Nice new look!
When we made reservation no one mentioned that they have a special menu for New Year’s eve didn’t want to spend $65 a person and I have two teenage kids we don’t need to spend $65 each and I thought that was a little sneaky because we are under the impression they have a regular menu for that night so to make a Story short we are very unhappy about it
My family had a wonderful NYE and our server was attentive. We’ll definitely be back.
Very relaxed atmosphere, great food, great service
Pasta is inexpensive. On a $25 plate, filling it with pasta, even if the same amount of seafood, would make for a filling meal at an additional cost of less than a dollar.
Awesome dinner, great service, friendly staff and breaking dishes was unique and fun! I am totally thrilled with this restaurant!
We have been going to Broken Plate for many years. The food is always fresh and delicious. There is something for everyone - even my aunt who is on a restricted diet and my cousin who is a pescaterian. I like to go here with a group but it is just as lovely for an intimate dinner for 2. A really great restaurant. I have recommended it to both family and friends.
We have eaten here before so we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. A very pleasant surprise was receiving Proseco complements of the house to celebrate our anniversary.
I am never disappointed with broken plate, impeccable service and delicious food.
We were here to celebrate our daughter's 15th birthday with 5 of her teenaged friends. It was a very busy Saturday night before Christmas, but we were seated at the time of our reservation with no problem. The food was a bit slow coming out for each course, but that was to be expected as the restaurant was full. Our server was great, she managed our group of 8 very well. The food was delicious, as always.
Food as always was delicious good value. Waitress was too loud talking to other people. She wasn’t classy . Should only be working at Cora’s not both. That’s why I only tipped 15%
