Broken Plate Kitchen & Bar - Willow Park Ratings and Reviews
We went to Broken Plate for out 35th Wedding Anniversary and cannot say enough good things about the restaurant. The server was excellent! His knowledge of the wines and the foods were very good. He was warm and friendly and made the night special. My husband had the Rack of Lamb which was tender and cooked to perfection. I chose Snapper (a special) and again was well cooked. The food presentation was lovely and portions generous. We would highly recommend this place.
Our evening was perfect from the large and quiet table for our family of 6 to the unique management of bill payment. We enjoyed some of the best chicken ever eaten and thanks to our wonderful server’s recommendation. This was a special occasion but will become a family favourite.
Always love going there. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I asked for a quiet corner and got it. They are always very accommodating. The food was excellent. All of us had different versions of lamb and it was delicious. I asked for a substitute for the potatoes and they gave me some great tasting broccollini. We will be back and I highly recommend it.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant and tonight was no exception. I did find the prices quite high, four of us shared one appetizer and only one of us had a drink and the bill was $200.00. Will continue to go there for special occasions but not for just a night out.
We make a point when we travel from Lethbridge to eat the The Broken Place. This restaurant serves authentic, delicious Greek food. There are not many places to get great lamb, and The Broken Plate never fails to prepare it perfectly. The service is outstanding, thoughtful but not over-zealous. We didn't have wine, but the wine list looked great. It is easy to have a conversation with your dinner mates.
We are huge fans of Mediterranean food and Broken Plate had been a go-to for us here in Calgary for many years. Sadly, while ambiance has improved the food quality has not. The service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and modern. I had the lamb rotisserie souvla which was not as tender as I expected given the length of the roasting process described to us. That in and of itself was not the issue so much as the tummy ache I had to deal with all night long, which I suspect was due to the spice (aka MSG) used to tenderize the meat. I understand that it's a tougher these days for restaurants to serve quality food at prices that are sustainable, however, the increased use of MSG (and the consequent suffering) is the reason we do not eat out as often anymore.
I do like this place but had a few disappoints this visit. I had made a reservation and didn't get a good table. One of the tall ones in the middle of the restaurant. Would have preferred a better seat.. Even if they were busy. I had a reservation. The shrimp appetizer only came with 4 shrimp (they were decent sized) for about $15. Which was kind of a rip off in my opinion. The food and service was good overall though. 4 stars.
Love the restaurant for a once in awhile basis, gotta get the flaming cheese appetizer! (Their signature), quiet but nicely done, menu is small but well done and very open to switching things around, service is a bit slow so not a place to be in a rush in. Love the baklava! Overall very good but can add up quickly!
Server was very abrasive. Tried to hurry our appetizer and drink selection before we had a chance to greet our guests. All servers wore blue jeans and looked less than professional. We had not been to the Broken Plate for years and it will years before we return. Food was mediocore. Salad was brought with the main course. Horrible server! Restaursnt was basically empty...no wonder.
