Brockton Villa Ratings and Reviews
We were visiting the area over Valentine's Day and decided to have a nice dinner with a view. We settled on Brockton Villa and are so happy we did. The prix fixe menu was to die for and such a great value. We were dining with our 6-month-old baby and they were more than accommodating. Our server was so friendly, and expedited our order so that we could get through dinner before the little guy's bedtime. Our table on the patio overlooking the ocean was just perfect. A wonderful experience from start to finish!
The food was good, service awesome, yet I am not too sure why you don't serve mimosa's until 11am. We were there on our anniversary and wanted to have mimosa with our breakfast, yet we were told they don't start serving those until 11am. It is a drink you mainly have with your breakfast. There were also 2 other couples that came in after us, sat by our table and asked for the same beverage. Yet were told the same thing, they didn't understand why they started serving them so late, one couple actually walked out. Maybe you should take this advice and move your timing up a bit.
We visited Brockton Villa during restaurant week for lunch. We had a reservation and only had to wait a short time. We were seated on an outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful beach across the street. We ordered off the restaurant week menu , a salmon blt for me and fish tacos and chowder for my bf. His chowder came out first. A small cup but with lots of flavor that reminded up of curry not a usual clam chowder. Our entrees were served and I noticed my side salad had no dressing and my sandwich had almost no aioli. I waited for our server but eventually had to leave the table and go find her to let her know I needed more dressings. One of my bf's fish tacos was very dry so he sent it back and they sent out another that was tender and hot. His rice and beans had no seasonings so he fixed them up with some of his taco salsa. I was a little nervous ordering the house specialty, coast toast, for dessert because of the problems we'd had with our food, but it was delicious. It is a lovely, charming restaurant with great views. We want to go back for breakfast and try the carne asada benedict.
We had reservations and got a great table on balcony. Coffee served luke warm and food also. People you had sat down 15 mins after us and ordered after us were served before us. Service was lacking quite a bit and tip we left reflected that. Probably will not return unfortunately.
This was our first time to Brockton Villa and selected it from Restaurant Week's website. So happy we did! Lovely ambiance but - large party behind us resulted in difficulties in conversing among our foursome. Regardless - we would come back, especially during the day for the fabulous view over Children's Pool & the view. Food was delicious!
Great menu, everything delicious. Fun restaurant week selection. Weird to not have a bar or indoor waiting area. At least they had wine selections for dinner. It was cold out and we had to wait to be seated for our reservation.....in a half empty restaurant. Then we were sat on the patio where there was no heat. Though tables open on patio with heaters. We moved inside. Lovely fireplace.
Our tour guide suggested this place as an option to check out. We did for the view of the water. Service was great and our server was very pleasant. The menu selection was good.
I had the chowder, it was warm and not as hot as I would have liked. The salad was good.
The husband had the fish tacos, but one of the fish was slightly undercooked.
Overall, all was good
Friends who live locally recommended The Brockton Villa as a place to meet for brunch. We walked along the Coast Road to get there and were so happy to see there was outdoor dining. Our table, at the front nearest the ocean, gave us a perfect view. The food was excellent. The staff did not make us feel we should leave, even though we sat a long time visiting with these friends whom we have not seen in many years. A truly enjoyable experience.
This place came highly recommended from a friend. Now I highly recommend Brockton Villa. My wife and I came here on a beautiful January Sunday morning as part of our anniversary weekend celebration. Though the vibe here is San Diego casual, our dining experience here was just as amazing and wonderful as the $450 dinner the night before, and a lot less. With a breath taking view of the Pacific ocean, we were greeted by warm and friendly hosts and waiters. Starting with tasty mimosas, we then enjoyed fresh fruit, amazing Benedict's and their spectacularly famous "Coast Toast'. We can hardly wait to go their again. We plan to become regulars.
We waited over 15 minutes after being seated before we left. The hostess (Samantha) was very pleasant and the only person who acknowledged us in the restaurant. The table next to ours gave their order to 2 different people and we could see they were frustrated. We were out for date night and rather than let this bad experience ruin our evening, we left and went to another restaurant. Super disappointed.
I've only eaten breakfast here in the past, but dinner was really delicious. They have a special 3 courses for $30 menu on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday night, and it was a deal. The server was friendly and helpful, we sat on the outdoor "balcony" right off the main dining room and could hear the seals barking and the waves breaking while we ate. Lovely all around!
