Romantic dinner with great food
Brockton Villa's location is perfect - right by the ocean. The food was excellent (especially the oysters) and our server, Miguel was excellent. Highly recommended!
This is one of our favorite breakfast places. It never disappoints. We love the coast toast, obviously, but the little things like great coffee and prompt service are so nice. We also ordered the chillaquilles, which are SO good here. And their kids menu is wonderful!
The construction surrounding the restaurant didn’t hinder us at all, even though I thought it might. No problems!
We got to the restaurant 10 mins before the reservation. The host was flustered and said we’ll have to wait until our exact reservation since it was super busy. Which it was not, as we walked around a little there were about 20 free tables. 15 minutes passed and we still had not been seated, the host came by again and mentioned it’s super hectic since a table of 25 just cancelled (we were a table of 3). I have learnt that you don’t have to bother customers with your own troubles, just fix it. I’m not interested in what you have to do to get us table when we’ve already been standing around. In addition, we went inside the restaurant and were told to move to the front as there was no waiting area. We were eventually seated on the outside patio, which was pretty chilly from the sea breeze. So we asked to move inside (which took about 45 mins, and yes there were still about 15 free tables). The food was good. The waiter was good apart from the fact that he added 2 bottles of wine to our bill, which we did not order. He was also a little too pushy with recommending dishes.
Have eaten at Brockton villa several times and have never been disappointed. The food and drinks are very good and the sevice and location is outstanding. Great to eat out on the patio during summer
Fantastic location, good food, reasonable value. Server and Hostess were very professional and accommodating. My negative was the front end Manager. She created a very negative first impression and was very rude to the hostess and guests, so much so that we considered leaving. Ironically, I overheard her telling the Hostess how guest impression was very important. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I feel sorry for anyone that has to report to her.
Everything was terrific! Brockton Villa is one of my favorite places in La Jolla, and Jonelle is a great manager.
We were visiting the area over Valentine's Day and decided to have a nice dinner with a view. We settled on Brockton Villa and are so happy we did. The prix fixe menu was to die for and such a great value. We were dining with our 6-month-old baby and they were more than accommodating. Our server was so friendly, and expedited our order so that we could get through dinner before the little guy's bedtime. Our table on the patio overlooking the ocean was just perfect. A wonderful experience from start to finish!
Reunion parking is a problem and open table should note that you need to find parking. The restaurant should have valet
Our waiter could have used more smiles. Service was ok in general.
The food was good, service awesome, yet I am not too sure why you don't serve mimosa's until 11am. We were there on our anniversary and wanted to have mimosa with our breakfast, yet we were told they don't start serving those until 11am. It is a drink you mainly have with your breakfast. There were also 2 other couples that came in after us, sat by our table and asked for the same beverage. Yet were told the same thing, they didn't understand why they started serving them so late, one couple actually walked out. Maybe you should take this advice and move your timing up a bit.
This place is for breakfast ONLY.
Great place with perfect view and good fiod
Went there to celebrate my birthday & got a great table with this amazing view. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot. Food was good & coffee choices were great.
Went restaurant week and was delicious. Server suggested mussels for appetizers, very good choice. stuffed after appetizer, three course meal, had to take dessert home...too full!
Celebrated my birthday sitting restaurant week! Great food....
We visited Brockton Villa during restaurant week for lunch. We had a reservation and only had to wait a short time. We were seated on an outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful beach across the street. We ordered off the restaurant week menu , a salmon blt for me and fish tacos and chowder for my bf. His chowder came out first. A small cup but with lots of flavor that reminded up of curry not a usual clam chowder. Our entrees were served and I noticed my side salad had no dressing and my sandwich had almost no aioli. I waited for our server but eventually had to leave the table and go find her to let her know I needed more dressings. One of my bf's fish tacos was very dry so he sent it back and they sent out another that was tender and hot. His rice and beans had no seasonings so he fixed them up with some of his taco salsa. I was a little nervous ordering the house specialty, coast toast, for dessert because of the problems we'd had with our food, but it was delicious. It is a lovely, charming restaurant with great views. We want to go back for breakfast and try the carne asada benedict.
We had reservations and got a great table on balcony. Coffee served luke warm and food also. People you had sat down 15 mins after us and ordered after us were served before us. Service was lacking quite a bit and tip we left reflected that. Probably will not return unfortunately.
We loved the view and the food was out of this world! Would recommend highly!!
This was our first time to Brockton Villa and selected it from Restaurant Week's website. So happy we did! Lovely ambiance but - large party behind us resulted in difficulties in conversing among our foursome. Regardless - we would come back, especially during the day for the fabulous view over Children's Pool & the view. Food was delicious!
