Broadway Cellars Ratings and Reviews
Dinner started off great but ended poorly. We met friends for dinner before a production at nearby Rivendell Theatre, arriving 2.25 hours before curtain and notifying the restaurant when making the reservation that we had 8 pm tickets. The restaurant partners with Rivendell and offers a discount to ticket holders, so it should be used to this situation. We were greeted warmly, even given a map to guide us when walking to the restaurant. Our drinks, starters and entrees were nice -- loved the blue cheese meatloaf. We finished these with plenty of time to spare for dessert and coffee, but after waiting 20 minutes for 1 dessert to share, we had to cancel, track down someone to bring us our bill and then pay as we stood by the door ready to dash out. We barely made it in time for the performance.
Service is informed and accommodating. Food choices are varied and specials also are good. Creative cocktail list, good beer selection. TABLECLOTHS!! YEA, finally, a restaurant that is doing something to reduce noise and enable conversation. I think I will make it a rule to not patronize restaurants whose pics on OpenTable do not show tablecloths.
My favorite neighborhood spot! Owners Tom and Geri not only serve up great food and wine, but are great members of the community. The food is always interesting, but not overly fussy. They also have great wine dinners every month or two with always on-spot pairings.
Sadly Broadway Cellars has decided to change its menu and go the bar food route. What used to be a great dining experience is now just basic. And basically bad. They've taken to overpowering the food with the sauces , mustard and pickles lesser places use to cover up the quality of their good. I'd not been there for two years, and now I see no reason to ever go back.
Our first visit as we were going to a play at the Broadway Armory across the street.
What a great place for dinner. The food was delicious. Three of us had completely different dinners... pork chop, a burger and a salad. We had the appetizer of fried brussel sprouts which sounded weird but were out of this world.
The service was excellent and they turned down the music twice!! The wine pours were generous.
Great value, great food and a really nice "manager/server."
Wow, we had such high hopes for this place. It's warm and inviting atmosphere is a plus and the hostess was lovely, as was the warm bread with olive oil and Parmesan We never saw our server after the food was delivered until we flagged him for the check. The ravioli was swimming in (I kid you not) at least 1/2 cup of butter sauce. I had to strain it and eat it off the bread plate. The fish and chips were OK - fish nice but fries meh.
We had a great meal. I have a list of food allergies a mile long, and Chuck, our server, took care with all of my issues. Our meal was delicious and perfect for my needs. We will be back, as I haven't found that many places that have done such a great job with modifications. Many thanks!
Seems like Broadway Cellars has really upped their game, both in the food and drink (not just wine) departments. Nice variety of choices for most every appetite. Excellent happy hour/specials each day. Easy to park in the area (or walk to as in our case). Staff is welcoming and helpful. Dining areas are roomy. A lot more people seem to be hanging in the ample bar area. Enough has stayed the same (seared tuna starter, wild mushroom ravioli, flatbreads) and enough has been added on to make me want to come back more often, maybe even monthly. Recommended to anyone who's in the area or looking to explore the burgeoning Edgewater food scene.
