Broad Axe Tavern Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went to Broad Axe for a Saturday afternoon lunch, and we have a very nice time. The food was great. Our server, Dave, was pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Great place overall. Also, the salted caramel cake was delicious. Highly recommend Broad Axe Tavern!
I made dinner reservations for a Friday evening. Although seated promptly, we had a long wait before our waiter came to the table, and then another long wait for a drink order, with yet another long wait for our food order to be taken. The drink order was not accurate, and it took quite a while for the correct drink to arrive. Each meal was very sub-par. In particular the over-priced steak was small, tough and chewy; the ribs were bland and the sides were of very small portion and quality. A chicken wrap had excess dressing, and when noted to the waiter, no accommodation was offered----just attitude and a wasted meal. The staff was not friendly and we were made to feel as though we were bothering them---not customer service oriented at all. All in my party were quite disappointed with the food and service. The overall experience tainted what was supposed to be a family celebration. For such overpriced food of poor quality, we will never again have dinner at the Broad Axe. We would have had a better, more predictable and affordable dinner at one of the chains (e.g., Uno, Outback, etc.)
We went for New Years Eve dinner with family - there was a total of 12 of us. We received great service and our waiter was always there and willing to asssit us with our needs. I have no complaints or concerns. We were seated right away and the guys were happy to be able to enjoy all of the live sporting events on the many tvs near our table. Food was awesome at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend and will be return.
We went for an early Christmas Eve dinner and despite asking the hostess if we could be seated in the livelier bar area, we were put in the back room by the kitchen where no one else was being seated. There were plenty of tables available in the bar. The food was ok. I doubt we’ll be back. It’s a shame it’s such a nice building, but very ordinary food.
Service was slow. Only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. Drinks were not refilled quickly. Had to ask for refills and check a number of times. Food was ok - nothing special. maybe ok for a casual lunch but not for a group of friends getting together for the holidays
Always mediocre food (at best) but we keep going back hoping for a better meal. Burger was so greasy it was falling apart and how could a burger come out just warm as though it had been sitting. Beer list is admirable though the waiter didn’t know they carry a light beer that’s on the menu.
This was our second year visiting the Broad Axe for Thanksgiving. My husband and I love the holiday menu they serve. The only minor issue was that we were seated next to the stairs and had to listen to people stomping up and down. They were full and had to seat people in the bar area. But we still really enjoyed our visit.
JESSICA helped to make our Thanksgiving brunch a success. She was prompt, attentive to our different family members needs, efficient, and very pleasant. The special thanksgiving menu provided a good variety of choices both traditional and novel as well as vegetarian options. The food was well prepared and we all enjoyed our brunch. The beer menu was extensive and those of us who tried some enjoyed the wide variety of beers as well.
Returned to one of our favorite locations we have been going to for the last 40 plus years. Was so happy to see they were filled with happy diners.
We generally go for their terrific burgers, both beef and turkey and we're not disappointed. Great toppings and easy to adjust for my grain free low carb way of life. Look forward to returning soon.
A girlfriend and I met here for lunch and we were thrilled with our meals. I had a jalapeño and cooked onion burger without a bun and side salad that was outstanding. My friend had a fabulous salad that she couldn’t finish but took home because it was so good. I will definitely go back with my husband.
Been here many times over the years. One of the best beer lists you’ll find in the area. Food is always good. Our server was OK, but not the greatest. She made it feel like she didn’t want to be bothered. She ended the night by putting the check on our table without saying thanks for coming or good night.
My wife and I always enjoy eating at Broad Axe. We prefer the dining area on the bar side ..especially for the booths...However, the bar side can get a bit loude if it fills up. Otherwise we have always had excellent service and food at a very reasonable price. I especially love the Broad Axe Fried Chicken dinner.....oh and the Crab Fondue....you have to try that...amazing...
Broad Axe is somewhere we go occasionally with our kids and it's good for that. Beer list is very good. Food is hit or miss but never terrific. Service is hit or miss as well. During the most recent visit the server was unsure of if answers to 2 menu item questions. The history of the place is awesome I just wish the food and serve matched.
Hosted a 10 person birthday dinner here for my Mom. Everyone in the party loved it. The menu has a wide variety of choices (and price points), there is an excellent selection of craft beer, the service is warm and friendly and the restaurant is one of the oldest in the country, so a beautiful colonial feel to it. I would definitely recommend the Broad Axe to anyone.
