Really good food, great service and $2 Tuesdays, you can't beat it.
A great way to spend St. Patrick's Day! Our group of 8-10 had a terrific time. The food, as always was very good!
Great time with my mom and dad and boyfriend. It was a little loud but the food and service was great. Will definitely go back again.
First time here. Cute place! Our waitress was very attentive. Food was a little slow coming out but it was very good. Ordered the fried green beans; salmon, and fried chicken. Drinks were also good! Definitely will be back.
Food was good, service was friendly and fast. Restaurant was crowded but the servers hustled.
The service and meal were excellent.
Waiter - Ed - was great! Food was flat - needed more flavor - pot pie was dry and some potatoes were crunchy. Noise level was more than we had expected
We made a reservation but walked in at the perfect time, 5:45 on a Saturday night, wasn't too busy or loud which was nice, food was very good, better then expected. We will definitely be back for future date nights!!
My husband and I went to Broad Axe for a Saturday afternoon lunch, and we have a very nice time. The food was great. Our server, Dave, was pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Great place overall. Also, the salted caramel cake was delicious. Highly recommend Broad Axe Tavern!
Warm wine, cold fish, sound system in dining room competing with insanely loud quizzo guy/do in bar. And the waitress PICKED UP THE FISH WITH HER HANDS then brought it back.
I made dinner reservations for a Friday evening. Although seated promptly, we had a long wait before our waiter came to the table, and then another long wait for a drink order, with yet another long wait for our food order to be taken. The drink order was not accurate, and it took quite a while for the correct drink to arrive. Each meal was very sub-par. In particular the over-priced steak was small, tough and chewy; the ribs were bland and the sides were of very small portion and quality. A chicken wrap had excess dressing, and when noted to the waiter, no accommodation was offered----just attitude and a wasted meal. The staff was not friendly and we were made to feel as though we were bothering them---not customer service oriented at all. All in my party were quite disappointed with the food and service. The overall experience tainted what was supposed to be a family celebration. For such overpriced food of poor quality, we will never again have dinner at the Broad Axe. We would have had a better, more predictable and affordable dinner at one of the chains (e.g., Uno, Outback, etc.)
Food was good but advertised Sunday brunch which they didn’t have when we got there. No notification that brunch menu was cancelled.
This was a last minute decision, and we both were very pleased with the food and service.
We went for New Years Eve dinner with family - there was a total of 12 of us. We received great service and our waiter was always there and willing to asssit us with our needs. I have no complaints or concerns. We were seated right away and the guys were happy to be able to enjoy all of the live sporting events on the many tvs near our table. Food was awesome at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend and will be return.
Food was very good. Service has some issues with getting orders right but would not stop me from going again. Nice Friday night meal out.
We were looking for a fun night that included Trivia so we decided to go to The Broad Axe Tavern. The service was great, the trivia was good, and the ambiance was nice. The food is lacking. If they get a better chef, the place would be awesome.
We really enjoyed trivia night! What a fun time out!
We went for an early Christmas Eve dinner and despite asking the hostess if we could be seated in the livelier bar area, we were put in the back room by the kitchen where no one else was being seated. There were plenty of tables available in the bar. The food was ok. I doubt we’ll be back. It’s a shame it’s such a nice building, but very ordinary food.
Great food, great service, a little loud with some kind of bingo or trivia game going on in the bar on a Thursday night... Maybe we'll go on Wed now for date night.
The restaurant and bar were hopping with families and corporate parties/dinners. We grabbed sandwiches and appetizers and all were delicious. Service was excellent in spite of large crowd.
Service was slow. Only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. Drinks were not refilled quickly. Had to ask for refills and check a number of times. Food was ok - nothing special. maybe ok for a casual lunch but not for a group of friends getting together for the holidays
Overall a very good experience. The server handled our table of 9 very well.
Everything was good, not memorable. I would go back.
Always mediocre food (at best) but we keep going back hoping for a better meal. Burger was so greasy it was falling apart and how could a burger come out just warm as though it had been sitting. Beer list is admirable though the waiter didn’t know they carry a light beer that’s on the menu.
We've been going to the Broad Axe for years, and have never been disappointed. We love the fact that they're open on holidays, like Thanksgiving and Easter, but it's just a great place to go anytime. Amazing beer selection and great food.
This was our second year visiting the Broad Axe for Thanksgiving. My husband and I love the holiday menu they serve. The only minor issue was that we were seated next to the stairs and had to listen to people stomping up and down. They were full and had to seat people in the bar area. But we still really enjoyed our visit.
JESSICA helped to make our Thanksgiving brunch a success. She was prompt, attentive to our different family members needs, efficient, and very pleasant. The special thanksgiving menu provided a good variety of choices both traditional and novel as well as vegetarian options. The food was well prepared and we all enjoyed our brunch. The beer menu was extensive and those of us who tried some enjoyed the wide variety of beers as well.
Returned to one of our favorite locations we have been going to for the last 40 plus years. Was so happy to see they were filled with happy diners.
We generally go for their terrific burgers, both beef and turkey and we're not disappointed. Great toppings and easy to adjust for my grain free low carb way of life. Look forward to returning soon.
A girlfriend and I met here for lunch and we were thrilled with our meals. I had a jalapeño and cooked onion burger without a bun and side salad that was outstanding. My friend had a fabulous salad that she couldn’t finish but took home because it was so good. I will definitely go back with my husband.
Great place! Friendly, quick service, highly recommended
Been here many times over the years. One of the best beer lists you’ll find in the area. Food is always good. Our server was OK, but not the greatest. She made it feel like she didn’t want to be bothered. She ended the night by putting the check on our table without saying thanks for coming or good night.
My wife and I always enjoy eating at Broad Axe. We prefer the dining area on the bar side ..especially for the booths...However, the bar side can get a bit loude if it fills up. Otherwise we have always had excellent service and food at a very reasonable price. I especially love the Broad Axe Fried Chicken dinner.....oh and the Crab Fondue....you have to try that...amazing...
Consistently good and the staff are very friendly and courteous.
Always a good experience. Love this restaurant. Recommended
Broad Axe is somewhere we go occasionally with our kids and it's good for that. Beer list is very good. Food is hit or miss but never terrific. Service is hit or miss as well. During the most recent visit the server was unsure of if answers to 2 menu item questions. The history of the place is awesome I just wish the food and serve matched.
Hosted a 10 person birthday dinner here for my Mom. Everyone in the party loved it. The menu has a wide variety of choices (and price points), there is an excellent selection of craft beer, the service is warm and friendly and the restaurant is one of the oldest in the country, so a beautiful colonial feel to it. I would definitely recommend the Broad Axe to anyone.
Nice little find. My wife and I stopped in for date night and had a very good meal and the beer selections were spot on. Good value for the money. And the service was great.
Usually a great place. This past time, however, wasn't. Food came out wrong, waiter was slow. Just not a great time.
This is a very nice spot. I had the Jambalaya it was excellent. Peg had a club sandwich. Also excellent. A very enjoyable evening.
