Thanksgiving Day dinner was excellent and we highly recommend.
Good food - great service. Casual atmosphere.
Good service, good food, and a good beer selection!
Went for dinner with a bunch of friends. Great food and service!
Awesome stop on a Monday night. Quick, quiet, quaint. Loved the burger and the beer options.
Great place. Wonderful, attentive service. Really tasty and original items (especially enjoyed the fondue with smoked Gouda and lump crab meat). Dinner was faultless and desserts were delicious and just the right portion size. If we lived closer we would definitely frequent this place.
I had a much better meal when I ate at Broad Axe Tavern three or so weeks ago. It was ok this time.
I would go back there if the gang was going but there was nothing exceptional to make me drive there from Philly. The service was very good though.
Very disappointed. i\Will stick with Phil's next door.
Bare, crappy looking tables. Table cloths would do wonders. Had the Chicken Parm, just ok. Wife had a salad with chicken, she liked it. They could do a lot make the place look nicer without raising prices.
We had a great time bidding our friend adieu as he prepares to move to Dallas. The beers and food were delicious.
I forgot Thurs was the weekly trivia contest, so the noise level was fairly high even though they were nowhere near full. The were also short handed and it was a few minutes before anyone even noticed we had walked in and were waiting to be seated.
Overall the food was good; we had the quesadilla appetizer to share and they put the hot peppers on the side (our waitress suggested that as an option when we weren't sure if we wanted them). I had the fajitas and my only complaint was they brought out my tortillas, cheese and other toppings a good five minutes at least before the skillet with the meat, onions and peppers so the tortillas were barely still warm when I started eating. Taste was good though, with generous portions. My husband had the loaded axe burger and it was also very good.
Not the best visit we've had there, but not terrible and not annoying enough to put me off going again.
We had dinner at the Broad Axe Tavern prior to seeing "Biloxi Blues" at the Act II Theater in Ambler. We were seated in a booth that was very comfortable. The menu was varied and the three of us had no problem deciding. We were each very pleased with our choice. The waiter was great and the food delicious.
Honesty is the best policy and honestly this visit to the Broad Axe tavern was terrible. Starting with the glasses of ice water placed on the table that tasted like chemical (glasses clearly not rinsed properly). Our server took a long time to acknowledge our presence - other tables seated AFTER us were receiving their food before our orders even taken. Food was slow in coming out, so slow in fact others seated after us were done eating and leaving before we got our food. My turkey burger was brought out as a well done, dry beef burger... the kids pasta was tasteless (how do you screw up pasta and butter?). To boot the AC vent located above my seat was dripping water on me! I read some of these reviews and often wonder if the author is being real. I am very accurate in my review of the Broad Axe last night. The manager took the burger and another item off our bill for our ‘pain and suffering’.
First time going there and it was a great experience, the staff was very attentive and informative. The food and drinks was absolutely delicious, I had the crab mac n cheese. I am definitely coming back no question about it
The Tavern was a little disappointing, the food was inconsistent. Certain things are great - he Skippack salad and the Cobb Salad we ordered were wonderful. My father always enjoys their fish and chips. the crab cake sandwich was ok and the fries on the side tasted like the fryer oil had not been changed in a good long time - gave me an upset stomach. the shrimp tacos were ok - with a huge dose of jalapenos - not for the faint of heart. All in all pretty mediocre. Service was friendly.
Great place with great food. Only problem was public trivia game was too loud.
I haven't been to the Broad Axe in years and it looked really nice inside. Also appreciated the more casual dinning options.
I’m so sorry it took me so long to try this amazing restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful- the service was friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely perfect. Price was on point - this might just be my new favorite place.
Wow - what a disappointment this dinner was! We had three for dinner. Drinks were delivered and I asked about the $13.95 Lobster Roll. The Server, who indicated that she was actually a Bartender, said that it was only one. Not sure what that meant but for $13.95, I assumed it was not huge or overflowing with lobster. Her response was that it was good but only one. I ordered it with the chowder. My two friends ordered burgers. The chowder was awful - some heavy spice that was not complementary. The
lobster roll" was only a lobster salad on a hot dog roll. The roll wasn't even toasted or buttered to pretend to be a lobster roll. How disappointing. The salad itself, small as it was, was good but it was clearly not a lobster roll. The two burgers had some spice in the meat that was overpowering. My friends couldn't even finish it as there was not enough water to wash it down. I'm not sure what is going on at The Broad Axe but we will not go back.
Mandarin salad with grilled chicken was very good. Might want to replace Asiago with a goat cheese though
Ordered the bone in grilled pork chop special. Came out and it was badly undercooked. Sent it back and it came out still undercooked. Sent back a second time and this time it was dried out and tough. I just gave up. No offer to take it off the bill and no apology from a manager. We will not be back.
Great food and service as always.
This is our go-to place.
One person's meal arrived with inedible chicken. Virtually nothing was consumed from the badly prepared meal. The management initially offered only a dessert! After an extended discussion with our server, a manager came out and comped the poorly prepared meal. A dessert was still offered, but we were charged for it. We have visited this restaurant at least a dozen times in the past, but have never had this poor level of service. The staff needs to receive considerable training to help satisfy customers.
My son graduated from North Penn. I asked; let’s get a bite, where do you want to go? He said let’s go to Broad Axe for a burger. You can never go wrong at broad axe for a great burger and a cold beer. The beer was for me btw. Lol
The staff were very accommodating and attentive. When I questioned how a particular drink was made after it was served to me, the bartender personally y came to our table to explain. The food was promptly served and everything was excellent. I will certainly go back for more.
The food was tasty but the service was a bit lacking considering the light crowd. My table was literally next to the bar and at one point I had to get up and get my own beer after our waiter went MIA. Speaking of beer, $6.75 for a pint of Fat Tire is a bit strenuous for this locale. [$4 for Miller Lite isn't much better...] Something odd happened, too - the waiter confessed to eavesdropping and then asked me to repeat and clarify the story I was sharing w/my friends. Who does that??
Service was very slow even though the restaurant was not full. The quality of the food could be better. The restaurant has potential but it needs a new menu and a more professional wait staff.
Jess was very accommodating and everyone enjoyed their entree choices.
It was Mother’s Day and they only had a brunch until 3 PM. We had to ask them to fill items constantly. The food was not that good. They also charged us 20% gratuity even though it was only to bring drinks. Would not do this again on Mother’s Day
Disappointed. Too noisy to have a conversation. Didn’t know it was buffet or I would not have made the reservation. For about $30 each I felt ripped off. The restaurant might be good but I don’t know. Would not recommend for Mother’s Day.
Food was mediocre at best. Taco salad, the ground beef was almost crispy. The spare ribs were meaty and tender but the bbq sauce was terrible.
We arrived and we’re seated immediately. Was looking for a nice date and we ordered an appetizer, and our meal. Was expecting to get the appetizer, then a bit of time to eat prior to the meal. Hopes were dashed as our main course came almost immediately.
Recommend that they pace things better. The venue is amazing and the food is good. I felt rushed and as a result would probably not return or recommend the Broad Axe for anything other than a sports viewing evening.
They aspire to fine dining, but the devil is in the details. A better pacing between courses would have made this somewhat pricey meal a better experience.
Unfortunately, it's been a while since we had visited and we remembered why. The service was great but the food was less than par. It looked beautiful coming from the kitchen to our table but when we took a bite it was fair. My husband had the BBQ ribs and they tasted as though the bbq sauce was put onto the meet five minutes before they were served. They were rubbery and hard. His french fries tasted like the old fryer oil. My aunts both had the filet and while it was gorgeous coming out the minute they took a bite they had to continuously chew the meet because it "like shoe leather." My crab cakes were ok but I wasn't into them enough to finish them. The best part of all our meals were the vegetables. Although I personally found they had a little too much cooking oil on them.
The restaurant and service is great. Their beer menu is extensive... The food needs work though.
Everything was good. Interesting historical building.
we went to Broad Axe with a few friends. Everyone had a good time. Great beer selection and good range of food. I recommend the burgers at Broad Axe. Always a good time when we eat there.
Superb service and food!
Pork chop dried out. Stuffing tasted like stovetop out of the box. Corn was greasy. My wife enjoyed her burger. Mediocre at best
The food was very good. The crab fondue was the best! I enjoyed the chicken pot pie! Cozy atmosphere with some history about the restaurant. Had a great time with my family for Easter Dinner!
Really good food, great service and $2 Tuesdays, you can't beat it.
