Brix Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Another consistent meal— consistently good. Nice evening out with my husband. He loved his French dip sandwich and I loved the BBQ , bacon and blue cheese salad. My cocktail was a Manhattan made with locally produced rye and Italian cherry— exquisite! Bar is well-stocked and beer offerings aplenty.
I've been going to Brix for a number of years, and have generally had good experiences. Unfortunately, New Years Eve was not one of them. I was not expecting a special fixed price, four-course meal--The voicemail I received in advanced mentioned that it would be available, but did not say it was the only option. Further, the lobster linguini had way too much sauce and the half chicken was undercooked. The wait staff was accommodating with a slight reduction of our bill, but I still feel I paid too much for what I got. I will likely return sometime in the future, but Brix is no longer on my top 10 list.
Booking this through OpenTable - the price fix menu was not communicated. We were taken aback upon sitting down and presented with a $65 per person menu, no alacarte option. $65 was really steep for what we were served. No wonder it was so easy to get a reservation last minute. We were surprised how many tables were empty on New Year's Eve. And with my selection within the 4 categories, I actually left hungry. Others in my party were full, it was just my combination of courses, the beet salad, for example, was really skimpy. The consolation is that the food was really good. I've dined at Brix several times and the food does not disappoint. It was just the price of the fixed menu that, were it not New Year's Eve, we would have left.
We were seated on time for our brunch reservation, but it was 15 minutes before we got drinks, and only then because my husband went up to a server to inquire about it. The server he asked said she wasn't our server, but she'd put in our drink order and let our server know. Drinks then took a long time to get to us, and weren't complicated drinks (black coffee, a mimosa, and a cocktail), so not sure what the delay was. Our server apologized for the delay when she took our food order. When our food arrived, my benedict was cold, but I feel guilty sending food back so I just dealt with it. My husband said his was warm, but not hot, and our friends we were with didn't say anything about their food, but we didn't ask. It was overall an underwhelming experience compared to previous visits where the service has been good and the food hot.
It was the perfect spot for our annual friends get together dinner. So many great options on the menu for food, cocktails, wine and beer. The ambience was comforting and inviting and the noise level was at a minimum so that we could all hear each other. The happy hour menu was great and we were able to order a few things as starters before our main entrées which were all superb. It is definitely a spot I would return to with friends or in a more intimate setting or just to have good food and drinks while watching a sporting event. It was fun...the donuts are amazing which I believe they just do as a complementary thing before brunch. The one thing they don’t seem to do is serve any kind of bread. Even the Eggs Benedict seemed to be on top of polenta. The wife was definitely not stoked about the lack of bread but I didn’t seem to mind the fact that even my order seem to be “scrambled” a little bit...ordered the Applewood Bacon Benedict & I got the salmon one...which was fine with me...because it was probably even better. The food didn’t seem to be served quite as hot as it could’ve been...but it wasn’t “cold” either...I would keep an eye on that...Because I think a yelp reviewer had a similar issue...I would say taste-wise they’ve got everything working!
We’ve been here before, and the last time it was a great hit. This time, it was a miss. The simple things, such as what came with a kids brunch meal, were clearly confusing as we received multiple answers to that question. Once we finally got it sorted, they brought waffles that were covered in eggs - because nothing says yum like waffle covered eggs with syrup. The eggs were very good, but it wasn’t possible to get them all off the waffle. Needless to say, the kids didn’t eat much of it! The Benedict was just ok - the avocados were fairly brown and the corn cakes (instead of English muffins) had a strange texture to them. The benefits of the bottomless mimosas and the giant butcher paper to color on didn’t outweigh the enormous tv screens (serisously Portland - this is a trend in every restaurant now - ugh!), the long wait or the lackluster food. Next time we will cook our waffles at home.
Great food and vibrant scene. Little to kid friendly for me. Crying babies and elementary children ...and believe me I love and have 5 kids. Looking for a kid break for two hours!;) Food was great and happy hour goes until 6:30 which is awesome. Even on a Saturday!
We were there for Thanksgiving. The food was delicious and an excellent value. The family style sides were on the small side. As busy as it was our waitress was wonderful. The only drawback was the loud bar/club music. We weren’t expecting classical music but, The Killers aren’t exactly dinner music, and sadly we ended up under the speaker.
Disappointed in the shift to double the number of people they serve on thanksgiving. It was very crowded, seating accommodations made at time of reservation were not recognized, food was good, but inconsistent. Our appetizer was missing items and I had to send my turnkey back because they gave me all of the joints and tendons instead of meat. My dad and I have spent 3 is the last 4 years here, and it is something we look forward to. After this year, it’s has become the same as all other crowded restaurants for a Thanksgiving, which is frustrating.
Three of our family members made a lunch reservation for Thanksgiving here. We all had the turkey and all the sides that come with it. The food was spectacular. Two of us struggled cutting the fat off the dark meat but that's truly the only complaint we have. We had a couple of cocktails, huckleberry daisy and pear-a-dice which were delightful. The service is above and beyond. They were constantly refilling water, and on top of drink refills. The timing of the 4 course meal was excellent. All the help were kind, pleasant and friendly. Our waiter was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. Looking forward to returning in the future.
