The food was great. Fun atmosphere in a cool part of town. The Halibut and Prawns was delicious.
Food was mediocre at best. Margarita pizza didn’t even have tomatoes and the Cobb salad had flavorless dressing and tough chewy chicken. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation but didn’t see a server for 10 minutes and then waited 25 minutes for our drink order (they were not busy). Only after that wait did she take our food order. I’m guessing they were understaffed on a Sunday evening but I doubt I’ll return. It was a dismal experience.
Never going back to this place ever again. Got treated like trash. Was ordered to leave by 3 people because they needed our table for a different party. We were there for maybe an hour total. Busser boy lied to us and said he was the manager. I work in the service industry and I would never order a table to leave just to sit another table down. Funny thing was they had multiple open tables so not sure why we were the ONLY table asked to get up. We tipped our server over 20% and as soon as she got the tip she ordered us to get up. Learned our lesson not to pay a bill until we are completely ready to stand up and leave. Asked for the GM's name and apparently no one in the building knew the GM's name.
They have a really good happy hour until 6:30 on a Saturday!
Highly recommend Bubbles with Every Bite. Amazing brunch spot!
One out of three plates was pretty good. Free doughnuts were good.
I love everything about Brix, except perhaps the parking...
My daughter went with a group of 12 for Homecoming and they all had the best experience ever. They were treated extremely well, their server was attentive and everyone loved the food they ordered. I appreciate that the Brix staff treated them so well since I know their bill would have been lower than a group of 12 adults. But I think many of the families will now be coming to Brix based on our teens’ experience. Thank you for making it such a wonderful evening for them.
Service at the bar is really slow due to shortage of staff.
A tale of two meals -
The good -
My wife enjoyed her Brix Chips appetizer. I had a few and agreed that flavors where interesting and complementary. She had classic caesar with chicken as an entree. She reported that the chicken was tender and well flavored. Loved her salad.
The Meh -
I had the calamari as an appetizer. I love calamari and was looking forward to the appetizer. The rings were over breaded and over cooked to the point of being rubbery. The sauce was the only saving grace as that had a nice bite to it. Entree was the chicken pot pie. The potatoes and vegetables were perfectly done as was the chicken and pastry top. The sauce was a bland disappointment that overshadowed the preparation. Too bad. Comfort food should be comforting, not tasteless.
The indifferent -
I hate being seated and then ignored for 10 minutes. Get the busy Saturday night. Stop by and say "I'll be back it's crazy right now". Nope. Service out of the bar was glacial. Wait service improved from indifferent to "oops should do my job and be attentive because my tip is at risk" as my annoyance became clear.
Phone dinged with an email from Open Table as we were working on our entree. Charmingly it was a scolding email from Open Table informing me that I had not showed up for my reservation. Wait, what? I am sitting at Brix this very moment. Sweet feeling at the end of the meal to get rung up by email for a no show because the individual at the host station couldn't be bothered to note our arrival.
With the choices that abound in Portland, and I have had some amazing meals there, I don't see a reason to try Brix a second time.
Brix was amazing! I was there celebrating my birthday and they made the entire brunch incredible! Service was spot on and very attentive!
I’ve eaten at brix many times over the years and the food was always amazing. Sadly this was not the case last night. Maybe there’s a new chef? The pot pie was not a pot pie, it was a chowder with a biscuit on top and the recipe changed, there used to be mushrooms and it was always a go to. The truffle Mac and cheese I also order quite often, however the truffle oil was the only flavor you could taste and too much that it burned my ears and the smell was so strong it bothered my neighbor.
It will be awhile before I go back.
Very noisy but food was great. Haddock was excellent as were the alaskan crab cakes. Waiter was efficient and easy on the eyes.
I booked a brunch reservation Sunday morning for an arrival time of 12:30 PM using OpenTable. The reservation was accepted by the restaurant and I received an email confirmation.
We drove down to the restaurant, paid for parking and walked to the restaurant arriving five minutes early to find the restaurant packed, the waiting area full of people and a line out the door.
Upon arrival I was told by the hostess that I did not have a reservation even though I presented my confirmed reservation to her. She told me the best she could do was to seat us an hour and a half to two hours later! Clearly, they had severely overbooked the restaurant that day.
This was unbelievably poor customer service and no way to treat a customer. We will never go back!
Probably the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had (chipotle one) and the $10 bottomless mimosas were spot on. LOVE this place.
Took a bit to get our initial drink and food orders. Generally, good was good. Eggs could be more flavorful. Would also have not put eggs on top of a waffle, but not a big deal. Overall good experience. Love those donuts. Liked being able to watch football and drink mimosas. Can’t beat that.
Been to Brix Tavern multiple times and it has never disappointed. Food is always great and I'll be back the next time I'm in Portland.
Great food, pretty good cocktails, just really loud.
love this place, though it can be loud in the front room during brunch.
It was nice, accommodating for 8 of us. Pretty pricey for dinner so we chose Happy Hour instead. Ended up being alright. I personally had the ribs on the HH menu, they were horrible! I could barely cut through them, flavor was gross, super salty, bbq sauce was way overwhelming, coleslaw with it was then flavorless. Caesar salad was semi crisp lettuce, over dressed and way too much cheese. I don't know what anyone at my table thought, I'd go for HH again, but now know what not to order and how to order it. Dressing on the side always, stay away from the ribs!
It was good
We had 11 people and were seated on time. Our server was amazing and made the whole experience wonderful. Food tasted great and everyone enjoyed their meals, including three children (8, 6, 6). Overall experience was great and we will definitely be back soon!
Service was terrific!
I absolutely love this place! It has a great menu and never disappoints!! The truffle Mac and cheese is my absolute favorite!
Friends in town
We came here for brunch for my bachelorette. It was the absolute best experience. Fabulous food and even better service. We will return! Thank you!
Had a 5:45 reservation. Took 20 mins to even get water, 45 mins to place our order, and another hour wait for our food. Ate at 7:30. No idea how good the food was, as we inhaled it, since we were starving and late for our 7:30 concert.
Awesomely flavorful food and superb service!
Always a wonderful venue to bring friends, enjoy fine wine and sit back. A delicious meal - the halibut is amazing.
Arielle was our server and we had an AMAZING time. We were 12 giggly bachelorette party girls and I was half expecting an eyeroll from entire staff. Instead, we had an amazing server who was energetic, super funny and really good at her job. Food was fantastic (especially for price), with lots of options for everyone. Our drinks were never less than half full before Arielle asked if we needed a refill, and everything came out in a super timely manner. She split our checks no problem (another thing that made things so much easier for us), and had a great bar recommendation for after! Usually dinner is just sort of something you have to do on these types of trips but our trip to Brix totally enhanced our entire evening! Thank you Arielle and Staff!
Not bad. Not great. Had to wait forever to get any service, but eventually she was attentive. Food was just okay.
Perfect for groups! Server was awesome! She got all our checks correct. Food came out in good time and was delicious!
The food was terrible
Server was awesome. Great drinks and desserts. Had a great time with coworkers.
The food tasted horrible, everyone at the table was not satisfied. I even asked the waitress if there was a new chief.
A wonderful place to have a birthday breakfast 🥰
Very busy Sunday brunch time. Waitress seemed a bit detached. When ordering bottomless mimosas and food is slow to arrive it might be nice to offer juice or coffee in the interim since they apparently can’t refill your glass until food arrives...one order was completely wrong but they corrected it in pretty short order....bacon not crisp as requested, coffee refill never came. Overall a “C”.
The food and service is always consistantly good and is always a go-to place for great food and atmosphere.
We have eaten here many times. Today my wife ordered chicken pot pie. It was like a soup pretty bad I ordered a pizza. Soggy coldish not going back
Food and drinks were good however we did have to move tables due to the air conditioning dripping on the table - and us. Our waitress closed our drink tab and had to move us to a different server when we moved tables, which was a shame. Our original table and another one right under the line of the drips were never turned on a busy Friday night.
