Loved the place right away. Our server Chris took good care of us made great food and drink recommendations and handled our loud party of 8 effortlessly. Would recommend this restaurant and return next time in Portland.
I rarely give poor reviews..With many available tables in this large restaurant, we were seated directly next to a family with a small (loudly) crying child. I like children and I emphasize with the parents; Just seat us a bit away. It would have been very awkward for us to move when the child started screaming.
The cocktails were good. The beet salad was good. The portions were way too big. Not a bonus for people going out on the town afterwords. I noticed many plates returning to the kitchen half eaten. Very wasteful.
I ordered the salmon with the lemon risotto and "fresh" vegetables. The salmon was overcooked and the lemon risotto was cheesy goop. The vegetables were: 2 soggy strips of bell pepper. 2 soggy very thin slices of yellow squash and 4 untrimmed, undercooked asparagus. Only half of each of the asparagus were edible, the rest being woody. For $28 I was quite underwhelmed. I will not go back. There are so many other restaurants in the area that offer a better experience.
Great ambience. We were a group, and mostly ate burgers. Nothing special, and the bread wasn’t fresh. Two of us had a fondue and they were disappointed. I had been there before and I had enjoyed the food, but not really this time. Would be nice to have more vegetarian options.
Always as expected— 5 stars— food, service, ambiance
Brunch with my girls
Great food, great service, bubbles with every bite was perfect and the servers were attentive for our large party! Would definitely go back!
Good vibe. Make reservations for a Friday. Burger was good, and Bacon Mac Cheese was great. Bloody Mary with bacon also was good.
Simply fantastic. So glad we chose to go there. Food was excellent, service even better. Wine selection was okay...not fantastic, but paired well with the food. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Would go there again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Gregory for the shout out and the 5 star review! We can't wait to see you again!
Food is always really good. Great atmosphere.
Thank you for the review!
I feel bad about writing this review because the restaurant is really fun inside and the food is delicious. However, we had a very bad service experience. First we were seated by a table right by the front door that had no curtain to protect us from the cold air. It took a long time to get seated at another table, longer time for our order to be taken, and a very long time for the food to come. Also, one of the glasses of wine served was from a bottle that had obviously been open for awhile and had gone bad.
There were several large parties that night and it was clear the restaurant hadn’t staffed the waiters and cooks sufficiently for the crowd.
I hope Brix management will take this to heart and implement the easy fixes to improve the service and the exposure to the front door weather.
It really is a fun place and the food was delicious when it finally arrived.
All of the aspects of service were very slow. Waited over 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a Greeter/Host. Once seated we waited 20 minutes to be greeted by a server. Once we were greeted they took a drink and food order and we never saw them again. Honestly, we should have left before we saw the server. The food was "ok" The chicken pot pie was completely under seasoned and the Truffle mac was over seasoned. Drinks were ok, would have been great to have been checked in on by a server or waitstaff person of some kind. I have been here before and had amazing drinks, food and service. I'm not sure I will come back. It was very disappointing. If you have lots of time to waste and no desire to get food and a reasonable time then this place is great. I understand when there are big parties and you may be short staffed, but couldn't even get eye contact from Expo or the person that could have been a manager, and frankly the staff looked like they really didn't care what was going on.....
Fantastic food and service as always.
Great service and delicious food!
The food was excellent. It was however, extremely loud. It was like being in a club or small bar at happy hour where you had to shout at people across the table to hear each other.
Went here for a NYE four course meal. Food was outstanding and cocktails were second to none. It is pretty noisy in the restaurant and bar but hey it was NYE so that is to be expected. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back when I visit Portland next!
Service was great! Chris I believe took care of us and he was terrific! We all had SO MUCH FUN!
It was a perfect way to start our New Year’s Eve celebration.
We loved the food and the place! We three each ordered a different dish so we could taste- my husband had the fried chicken, I had the West burger and my daughter had the Margarita pizza. Each dish was delicious!
First time at Brix. We had a very nice time.
I loved the ambience of this place. It worked very well for adults and kids with a good selection of tasty food. The drink menu was fantastic and the late happy hour prices were much appreciated for a family holiday get together.
won't be back
so many better places to go in Portland
mediocre at best and worse on some dishes
one burgar was so salty it wasn't edible
no flavor in roast chicken on a salad
Wonderful, warm staff and a festive dining experience. The menu seemed a bit limited. Not as many entree choices for families. Many choices were too rich. Would like to see more farm to fork, healthier options.
It was okay. Not great or spectacular like I was told but just okay. I felt the entire time we were waiting for our server, to take our order, to refill our coffee, and to take notice we were done. All staff was really nice don't get me wrong, I just felt like it took a really long time for everything. Food was good but for the price to have lack luster service I don't think it lived up to the hype at all.
We came out to watch Jordin Harris sing!
He’s an awesome performer, thanks for having him.
Our server was just as amazing as the food.
Very fun and energetic brunch crowd --yes it was loud but very fun ---food was good --not great----the draw is the space, the energy and the vibe ---and we would go again because of that ---we loved the unlimited Mimosa's but had to ask for re-fills more than once --they needed more servers to just pour as everyone else was having them so it took them a while to re-fill everyone's glasses ---they were fantastic so would definitely recommend. Our waitress was very friendly --food was hot but we were a bit disappointed in some of our choices. My husband had the spicy bloody mary and loved it ---liked it enough to go back.
Great service, great food. Wait staff was excellent
Great Service, Food and Beverage. We eat here once a month and are never disappointed.
Kinda sadly disappointed with this experience! The food was really just not good and the server started the experience by shoving the menu in my face and storming away.
Very yummy brunch items..
Brix' Eggs Benedict on a cornmeal biscuit ruined me for any other permutation of this dish! Delicious!
I ordered the crab and rock shrimp omelette and I’m not sure what was in the middle of my omelette but it didn’t taste like rock shrimp or Dungeoness crab. The fruit was very tart.
This was the second time coming here for my birthday dinner! The first time was excellent, but this second time not so much. We typically love this place. The food and drinks are delicious, the vibe is fun and youthful, the happy hour is great! But this time we were disappointed. We had several different servers approaching our table, it seemed as if not one person was actually assigned to help us. We had inquired about happy hour pricing on a drink and were told it was happy hour prices, but when others at our table asked the same they were told it would be double the price. When we asked for clarification, as we were told two different things, the waitress immediately had an attitude with us and was very rude to my friend. Unfortunately this dampened the mood a bit and the rest of the night wasn’t quite as enjoyable.
Food always on point, means good, and i'm very pleased with the bubbles for every bite. Keep it up
Time: 7:50 - 8:75 (~57 mins wait time)
The waiter that assigns customer seating was extremely rude and unprofessional. She rolled her eyes when I asked her a question about a "wait time" estimation. She proceeded to seat everyone else except for the minority folks. We waited for 57 minutes after making a reservation at 8:00 PM. We left sad and disappointed.
I understand it was a holiday and you were busy but I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years now and worked thanksgivings and Christmases and we NEVER got so backed up that people who made reservations weeks before has to wait a minimum of one hour for their table. From my experiences all the food is made that morning or the day before and reheat on thanksgiving and everything is held hot. I get how it got so backed up. Because it was only two of us we ended up eating at the bar, which was very uncomfortable and people kept coming up so close to us to order drinks. It felt like we had no privacy cause the next thing you know there would be someone in your face trying to get the bartenders attention.
The food was mediocre. The greens tasted like nothing, the stuffing was dry, mash potatoes were super lumpy, cranberry sauce tasted like lemon juice. The turkey was a little dry but they dredge it in gravy. I also hoped they would give you a slightly more even portion of light and dark meat. And the sweet yams were just roasted yams. Nothing on it to give it flavor.
It was hard for me to pay for that meal considering the food wasn’t good and the experience overall was even worse.
We were seated over an hour after our reservation and our steaks were the worst we have ever had in our life.
We came in for our thanksgiving reservations only to find a room full of waiting people and no idea on when we might get our table. Not sure if they severely over booked or if diners lingered but with a young kid in tow we could not wait the 45min-1hr past our reservation time.
Went to Brix for our Thanksgiving dinner. It was FANTASTIC! Great meal and lots of options. Had the Mushroom Wellington, hubs had the Prime Rib. Recommend it!!
Servers were great making the best of poorly organized plan by management. Having to wait over an hour to be seated when you have a reservation is unacceptable, just poor execution. Men's restroom was a mess. Again, just poor planning or lack of it. Manager, open your eyes. Don't just run in circles. Walk around your restaurant, look for problems and solve them!
Everything for Thanksgiving dinner was pretty good... the drinks were expensive but the dinner was very reasonable, so we didn't mind. My big complaint is that even with our reservation, we were sat 45 minutes late. We are flexible people, but we'd waited most of the day anticipating this meal, so needless to say were were starving by the time we finally got a table. We've both worked in the restaurant industry as well, and yes, at holiday meals it's hard to say how long people will linger after eating, but that should be taken into account if seating is being managed well. The second unfortunate part is we were sat at the very first table, which is in direct line with the door, which opened constantly. I kept my jacket on the entire time. We were happy to have a table regardless, but it might behoove the restaurant to add a glass/Plexiglas barrier on that particular half-wall, not only to block the icy blasts, but to keep the waiting people from looking/breathing over the shoulders of the diners on the other side. It would also be nice if the hostess would ask folks to stand to the side of the walkway which also serves as waiting area. People aren't conscious/aware enough to realize others need to walk by - even though it's clearly a walkway and not a room for them to mill around mindlessly. And lastly, it would be great if there could be maybe 1 or 2 TVs on during a holiday feast (I get it, football is life to some), but not all. I felt surrounded by football (and thus even more noise than the din of conversations) while trying to enjoy the evening with my partner. Thanks for reading all this - I really truly do love Brix most of the time!
