Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time at Brix. We were really looking forward to the array of options. Started off with cocktails, the spicy old fashioned. I'll order it every single time in the future. Excellent. Next, cheese board, great variety, nice side options, didn't care for the lavoch though. Field greens next. Seriously, vanilla lime vinaigrette? The BEST dressing I've ever had. I'm not kidding. Never ditch that dressing. Ever. I had the cavatelli with sausage, mushrooms and kale, what a flavor punch. Amazing. My girlfriend ordered the coffee crusted duck. Totally legit and cooked perfect. Overall, great experience. Great service, quiet, they absolutely nailed every menu item, but I have to say, the wall art was meh, which is why i didn't give it top stars for ambiance.
I would prefer something from the Colorado Plateau, but that's just me. We will absolutely be back, thank you for a rad dinner.
I really wanted to love this place. My wine pairings didn't pair well with my meal which I found out was because my wine was brought with the incorrect dish. They failed to mark the table before we got one of the courses which meant I needed to wait for the server to come back. To be fair he seemed busy but there were what seemed like a half dozen of SAs or expeditors who could have caught that. They did bring the plates to the table after all. Something else was I specifically called and asked if they had a Spanish speaking server as I was with my friend from Mexico. I wanted her to be able to ask about the menu, they said they could make it happen. This server could say hi. The food is what really disappointed me. It was cold. Lacked basic seasoning. I could go on but it really isn't worth it. I was happy my friend was happy. She hasn't been to a prefix dinner with pairings before so she enjoyed herself. I was disappointed that this was her first experience. I was recommended to this place as the place to go. I think I will stick to The Cottage for my nice meals out. I'm willing to pay for great food and I tip well however I did only tip 20% this time. I don't think I will be back on purpose.
The food was excellent. The bread board was good. The short rib crepe was good. The Tale and Trotter Pork chop was excellent, very tasty and cooked beautifully. The Holiday Sangria was spectacular, I will recommend Brix to my friends just for that drink. My husband tried Mother Road's IPA beer for the first time and was fascinated by the Tower Station. Our server did a great job. My husband and I will return for another special occasion.
Brix was always our favorite restaurant in flagstaff until this past Sunday. The food was definitely not the same not sure if they have a new chef but food in the past was excellent. First off our server who was also the bartender did know right off hand the specials for the night exactly, my husbands martini was not even full, the steak was mediocre, the special pasta was a disaster it was undercooked and chewy, too many flavors going on. Not sure if we will ever attempt going back after spending few hundred dollars and not having a great meal .
We've been to Brix a number of times and always been very satisfied. They've "raised the bar" with us so high that when a meal is only "very good", it's a slight disappointment.
Last Fridays' dining was once again superb except that I'd have to rate the elk rack as merely "OK". It certainly wasn't bad, but when the "opportunity cost" means skipping their sensational duck entree, the elk rack just didn't hit the same high notes.
Everything else was top notch as always - we've had the carrot-ginger soup before and we were fortunate to be able to enjoy it's smooth aromatic goodness again. The cheese board remains a great value and a wonderful starter.
The food and service were exceptional. The meals were creative and we ordered a salad which they divided in half for us. The food was served in a timely manner. The salad had delicious dressing which was likely applied. We had homemade chocolate ice cream with strawberries for dessert; it was terrific!
Two words: simply outstanding! Brix is an amazing restaurant with a terrific menu of eclectic items and an excellent wine list of interesting new "finds." Chelsea, our server, was outstanding and she made the dinner very special for two visiting Hoosiers. The food was remarkable and memorable. This is a "don't miss" restaurant...extraordinary in every way!
Best restaurant in Flagstaff HANDS DOWN. My husband and I are originally from Orange County/Los Angeles County CA, and have lived in Vegas the past 8 years. We are accustomed to great dining! Brix was AS GOOD as its big city competition but what stood out to us, above all, was the personal service and expertise of our waiter/manager Daniel. He went above and beyond to make sure our experience was a great one! Highly recommend, and my husband and I both agree that the restaurant offered a wonderful value for the money spent!
This is a great quite place to get away from the kids for a few hours and enjoy the elegant food and service yet relaxed atmosphere. Take your time and spend about 2.5 - 3 hours. The owners are wonderful people and seem to take great pride in presenting locally sourced and quality dishes. We've never been disappointed and it's one of our favorite restaurants in Arizona.
The cook should be fired.
1) Soup of the day was potato and chili pepper. I love spicy food but the soup was so spicy it overpowered the taste.
2) The ravioli stuffing was so strong in bleu cheese that it was almost intolerable.
3) Kid’s mac & cheese was so bland it was also almost intolerable.
The only enjoyable part was the lamb because the chef couldn’t mess up mixing meat.
There was seriously no skill, the food spice was all or nothing.
The service staff were very professional and the wine was great.
Get a chef who knows what they are doing, maybe even someone with experience or schooling.
One of my all-time favorite restaurants in Flagstaff - the food, service, wine, and atmosphere is top-notch. My boyfriend wants to go there every time he is in town! Our favorites: the meat and cheese boards with all the yummy flavors and whatever special is happening in the kitchen has been just spectacular!
My girlfriend and I had a really great time here. Awesome food and wine, and I really appreciated the timing of the food service; it was broken into courses due to ordering appetizers with our main entree. Perfect for a date when intending for a nice, long evening dinner. Although quite expensive, I'd say it's overall worth it. My only critique is our seating arrangement was a little close to the table next to us, almost feeling like we were eating with our neighboring table.
Get one of the boards!
MY wife and I have eaten at Brix several times through the years, but must say our recent dinning experience at Brix was not the usual quality affair that we've come to expect. Service was average at best, food was tardy and cold when served, and drink prices have gone beyond acceptable. Looks like Brix is going the route of a lot of other Flagstaff restaurants and that's the way of Sedona, average food service and cocktails with 5-star prices. After all, they're just tourists and won't have to worry about them coming back. SHAME
A lovely little spot. We had a quiet table in the back the service was great. We enjoyed every dish we had which were the risotto, pork belly, filet and duck.
The server who brought our water told every table that it was triple filtered, which to us is a tad pretentious and completely unnecessary. The restaurant is so intimate and welcoming and the food and service is great that they don't need to have any airs and graces. That being said, we will definitely retun
Daniel was such an amazing server!
I was celebrating my wife’s birthday and it was such an rememberal dinner. The food was unique and well presented. I couldn’t have ask for a better place to spend the evening with my love. Thank you Brix and Daniel for such a great night.
My wife and I went to Brix for the first time for our 22nd anniversary. Food choices were interesting, although most items were off our normal dining list. There were enough choices however for both of us to find a pleasant dinner. Service by Daniel was as good as it gets. He's knowledgeable, very personable and very helpful without being pushy. An all around pleasant evening.
We've eaten twice at Brix and have had exceptionally good meals each time. Although the building's exterior does not have an impressive look, once inside, the finishes and overall appearance are appealing. The service was terrific both times. On our last visit, my wife had the Duck Confit (by the facial expressions I could tell her taste buds were remembering a favorite meal in Gascony) and raved about the meal for quite some time. I had the Short Rib Crepes, braised and ricotta filled in a bordelaise sauce. INCREDIBLE! I'm not usually a fan of French wines but given my meal was presented in a bordelaise sauce, it only made sense to stick with the Bordeaux region of France for my wine selection. The Pinot Noir was surprisingly good with nice aromas of spice, black cherry and hints of plum and anise. Very robust and flavorful.
The food was delicious and very creative, the dining room has so much ambience and character. What made the evening even more special was our great waiter, Daniel. He recommended the perfect choices for both food & wine. He was engaging and attentive. We can't wait to return!
